More about Tacloban City

The largest city in the Eastern Visayas, Tacloban is a city that has recently been greatly affected by the typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) but has managed to rebuild fairly quickly. The diverse and highly urbanized city is easily accessed either by air or land, as it’s well connected to the rest of the country.

Tacloban is home to a few important landmarks for the history or the Philippines, one of them being the San Juanico Bridge, which is the longest in the country, while the other is the Santo Nino Shrine and Heritage Museum. This shrine and museum was built many years ago by an important figure in the country, displaying interesting antiques and artifacts. It’s an interesting place, and a favorite photography destination for many tourists.

Once the capital of the country, Tacloban is also home to a lot of festivals such as the popular Pintados-Kasadyaan Festival of Festivals. These events are not only local gatherings but feature representatives from many parts of the country to create elaborate celebrations that should be seen at least once.

Tacloban has a great deal to offer any traveler, especially those looking to get a feel for the history and culture of the Philippines. Find out where the rest of Tacloban’s hotels, attractions, and must-see destinations are located by exploring the interactive map on this page.
