Ternate has a fascinating past read up its history. The people are by friendly and the food is wonderful.
Visit the Dutch forts, Floridas a Restaurant just outside the city, and take a boat trip to Sofifi and tidore.
Great city, with many beautiful panorama. There are two lakes, many islands nearby, many great restaurants with delicious local food.
one of the lake, named Tolire has a mystery. In this beautiful lake, You can not throw a rock to the middle of the lake. A power has pull the rock to the side of the lake. first, I think because of the wind, but later I know that the wind is the same direction to throwing rock. Could you explain that? In the midnight, I went out, and I found that the city still live. Many people sell food, shoes, etc until in the early morning.
Quite, simple and nice view of the sea. A lot of motorcycle. Better to hire a car if want to go around the city
life is simple - only advanced by the nearby island mining developments - which allows Ternate to remain somewhat unspoilt - but still gaining in regional resources.
surrounding islands are beautiful - all the more dominated by the large (extinct) volcano that is Ternate Island. multi-cultural mix of people from west Indo / post colonial / polynesians. nice simple experience
