"Very poor dinner service waiting nearly an hour after placing food order, kids allowed to play tag in the restaurant, no lift to upper floors and tight turns to negotiate staircase (with large suitcases is an issue), no porterage. However .. very pleasant restaurant, good food, and exceptional balcony for breakfast. Good parking facilities and a great location on the outskirts of the city of Truro with a very short walk to the train station which is a very good alternative means of getting to Truro from London. The reception/check in person was a stand out. Lack of American Express cards payment service is an issue. But, the positives far outweigh the negatives. I would stay again for sure."

"We actually upgraded to an apartment. These have been renovated to an exceptional standard.Spotlessly clean and furnished to a high standard. The staff at the reception desk were welcoming and more than happy to meet our request for changing our original booking. The cleaning staff were unobtrusive, very friendly and did an efficient job each day (very impressed with them!) The location of the hotel is ideal as it is very central, therefore everything in Truro itself is very accessible by foot. The hotel also provides parking which is an added bonus. We have already rebooked for December."

"We nearly didn’t book this stay because their photos were quite off putting! The reality was much better which was a relief and a very pleasant surprise. The electric shower is noisy but powerful but the bathroom tap pressure is poor. Very nice breakfast and lovely atmosphere in the pub beer garden below. Bed was ok but might be time to think about replacing the mattresses. Absolutely love St Mawes which feels high quality and way beyond tranquil. Love all the water. The only negative I would point out which is not exclusive to the Rising Sun is that many many restaurants, bars and hotels in Devon and Cornwall do not wear mask which really surprises me as they are in very close contact with other’s food and drinks. It made me feel uneasy and did detract from my enjoyment.... I’m just very very surprised mask wearing by servers is so lax everywhere"
