"I visited as an extension of a business trip to Savannah and only stayed one night off season (January). The hotel is an old-style beach front hotel, and while certainly not a Hilton or Marriott, the place is well cared for and clean. It is located on the opposite end of the island from most of the bars, restaurants and shops, which was actually a bonus. The island is very walkable and all those places are a short 10-15 minute walk away, and then I was able to leave that behind and retreat to the serenity of the Desoto on the quiet end. Again, I was there one night in January and I'm sure Tybee is a completely different place during other times of year, but the Desoto was a great retreat."

"This is what happens when you book a beach place last minute in August. I was driving down the coast and thought I would check out the Georgia Islands. I decided to look at Tybee. Very little availability in rooms so I booked this. It was a little over $200 with fees/taxes. The room could sleep 4 with the pull out couch but I was on my own. I called to let them know I would be getting there around 8 (to make sure they didn't give my room away. When I got to the property I looked for the place to check in. Nothing. No signs either. Someone told me I had to check in at another property about a mile away. Maybe when I called they could have told me that? It's really not an Inn. No central gathering place. Room was clean but dated. Coffee pot but no coffee. There is a full kitchen so I think this might be a good deal for someone with a few kids or a group travelling together. Windows looked out on hallways. No view of beach or pool. And no blow dryer. :-( . Great location to walk to town. "
