Beautiful city, surrounded by the sea. Unfortunately, a tacky vibe. Girlie bars where many oil rig workers, Aussie war vets, older men sitting in bars hang out.
Loocal women offer 'massages with boom-boom'. Food is heavy, old style British/Aussie (bangers, meat pies) Too bad, as the city I s beautiful.
Vung Tau an island away from city. The road is not crowded with vehicular as city and the pace is much slowly.
One can navigate around the island via rental motorcycle. The air is fresh and the sea scenery is nice. The island is extremely quite after 12 midnight till morning about 5am even on weekends. The expenses are cheaper compared to ho chi minh city.
Vung Tau was one of my favorite vacations in Viet Nam. Fresh seafood! Friendly people. Very relaxing.
Rent a motorbike and explore. You can't get lost and it's easy to drive around for the first time driving a motorbike. Awesome!
Nice city, nice beach, friendly people, however, watch out for being ripped off by street vendors and cheap motels.
A coastal city with different beaches. The sea water is not so clean since it is near where the river outflows to the sea.
Still many people consider it is ok to swim there. Besides, wind breeze, fresh air, seafood, nice seaview cafe are great.
We got a taxi, Mr Hung, he took us around the island for 2 hours to visit the sites. For me it was the best way to visit the island, see the main sites and stay cool.
Also there is a small cafe on the front called Gazza's they do excellent food and the staff and service are great. Everyone we met were great.
NOT MUCH TO DO HERE UNLESS YOUR YOUNG AND INTO LOCAL GIRLS FOR THE NIGHT LIFE FEW BARS NEAR THE SEA (Ha Long Street).
Unless you want to see the Jesus statue and walk up 800+ stairs and visit a run down HO MAY Park. its not worth your effort of travelling to Vung Tau, unless your biking around Vietnam, i highly reccomend this place a miss.
Vung Tau is a quiet and sleepy little place that houses retired Westerners and is a base for workers in local industries.
It is spread out between the town centre, front beach and the back beach areas. Back beach looks to be the better choice in beaches. Food is not remarkable. It is a good place to escape the pressure of bigger VN cities.
Vung Tau is a pretty nice beach city, only 2-hour drive from Ho Chi Minh city. However, the local government officials need to work more on raising people's awareness in keeping the beach as well as public attractions clean.
The sceneries in Vung Tau are beautiful. However, it is annoying to see people littering.
Two hours on a comfortable Phuong Trang bus from Saigon, Vung Tai is a small city on a peninsular with beaches on both sides and some great seafood.
Plenty of bars and restaurants, and a few attractions to visit on the hills surrounding the city offering great views over the area. It's a very nice area to rent a motorbike and cruise around, however beware the taxi drivers! They are among the worst I encountered in Vietnam for their recklessness when it comes to other road users, especially bikes.
A nice town to spend the weekend. It would be much nicer if the beach would be clean as it is right now quite dirty.
So if you do not mind not to swim, the rest is great and if you would like to swim, well, find a pool or swim at the bathtub :)
It is a nice and romance city. Its very good location attracts all travelers from HCMC, which is only about 1hour driving in the very modern highway nowadays.
If you work or live in HCMC, this is the best cast away you would find in the nearby area.
A vibrant and never stopping city. Good people with out anger.cheap but good quality food. Best looking ladies in the whole world .
cheapest Ray ban sun glasses in the world. A drive through the countryside North past Bar Ia was a buzz. This is my4th trip in 2years, do I like this country I LOVE IT
It's take only 2hrs drive from Hochiminh city. Can make a short and easy city escape to have some fresh air and relax
Great sea resort city but make sure you have a local expert to go with....to avoid being ripped off by dishonest local guys!
The ferry has resumed with two services a day, and now a good VIP bus connection every half hour. It's possible to do a lot in a couple of days.
Can also access Ho Tram strip Resort casino if u want to travel.
Lots of places for drinks and music. Now has a new lottemart so more places to shop. Easy to ride around a bike.
Can go up the mountain on a chairlift. Big range of accommodation. Always prefer front beach as back is now quiet and you always have to travel to get to eat.
Average Vietnamese town with nothing much to see but the Laughing Buddha statue and the Jesus Statue.
This is very relaxed beach area that comes alive at night time with lots of street vendors. The police is trying to kill the street vendors by the beach, so every time the come out to spoil the night life, the options of finding street food diminish in the beach area.
In the city center and close to the front beach there are a number of nigh clubs in where to go out and drink.
Vung Tau is purely for relaxation, drinking and eating and is worth it for those three things. Not many tourist attractions but a lovely little Gold Coast(Australia) minus the tourist attractions.
Great for family's for swimming.
It's a oil & gas hub, so many travelers here are for business. I would not recommend the city for vacations, in spite of the top class food and spa.
Ganh Hao restaurant, a lot of seafood with fair price, Gazebo cafe facing toward the beach with good view
Vung Tau is a nice place to relax and get to know the local community activities. It is attraction mainly for the local.
nice city, I love to enjoy coffee or ice cream at one of coffee shops along the beach & watch sunset
Vung Tau is a nice place to visit you can hire motorbikes or bikes so that you can do your own thing or you can go on organised tours it is up to you we hired a motorbike and went of on our own it was fantastic we saw a lot of countryside
The city is so much more than front and back beach. Take the time to get on a bike and explore. The city is growing and improving facilities.
Well positioned in Vietnam, Quiet compared to other Cities, Good sightseeing and the people are very friendly.
Very friendly people, easy to get around, nice beaches, and great mountains. Prices for food, lodging, and shopping are very reasonable.
Vungtau is pretty fun. We went to watch the dog racing at Lam Son stadium.. really enjoyed coming here.
. the dogs were very fast.. lost all our bets, but it was fun :)
not very nice beach, but can enjoy fresh air along Thuy Van street in coffee houses and watch sunset
