Staff member are providing warmth genuine service from security, reception , security and restaurants. + It is required to submit ourselves, as part of security procedures - Security performed their job in a professional, discreet manner. +Rooms and facilities are all at standard clean. + They have entertainment activities in the evening to keep going. - Restaurant food selections could be improved with more local specialties in creative way. Example, breakfast- needs to have coconut juice, passion fruit, wood apple or some fruits of Sri Lanka. - Rooms a bit slippery floors when get wet. Otherwise, all good and this resort is recommended to all travellers .

Brendan and Bernadette created a piece of paradise on this piece of Sri-lankan land. The rooms are very well designed, the restaurant serves the best food in Sri-Lanka - tasty, sophisticated and juicy. I especially loved the separate large luggage room - it allows to keep luggage separately of the main room and avoid it looking cluttered. The outside waterfall shower is extremely pleasant. My only two complaints is the dry lawn - in some places closer to the villas the grass is lacking altogether (and the lawn takes at least half of the property, so its great looks are vital) and just one toilet paper roll in the bathroom (and paper rolls tend to finish just when they are needed urgently). On the second day of our stay the grass was being watered, though - so i hope by our next stay the lawn will be perfectly green). We will definitely be back!

I spent my first three days in Sri Lanka at TBW hotel by lounging under the palm trees on the hotel's manicured lawn overlooking the waves; swimming in the clean, warm Indian Ocean; taking morning walks on the beach watching local fishermen drying their night catch on the shore; being pampered at the hotel's spa and a local Ayurvedic spa (just over the rail track from the hotel entrance and talking, talking, talking to lots of wonderful local people. My thanks go to Lala, a local English-speaking tour guide or whom I would call a walking encyclopedia about everything under the sun in Sri Lanka’s history, culture, religion, and current events (contact info: lala_srilanka@yahoo.com); to Anju, a waiter at the hotel restaurant who always greets you with a big, authentic smile and positive attitude; to Lakshika, a charming and helpful guy who works at the front desk; to Yanti, who works at the hotel spa and did magic to my sore back; and to Amele, a yoga/gym instructor who kept me in good shape so I can eat what I wanted. Other thoughts: * The rooms are not luxurious but are clean and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. * Of course, there were little annoying things such as noisy refrigerator in the room, loud crows on the palm trees, tourists who are rude to staff, stinky fish drying on the beach but I chose not to let them affect my mood or memories. * If you need a reasonably priced airport transfer to/from the hotel or think of travelling around Sri Lanka, I can recommend an exceptional tour company. My friends and I – four women, with different personalities and fast travelling experience – felt fortunate and extremely grateful for having Sanjeewa Munasinghe as our patient, knowledgeable, and with great sense of humor tour guide and driver who made our visits to Kandy, Sigiriya, and Nuwara Eliya a safe, fun, and unforgettable experience.

This is clearly a place for people who can afford to treat themselves to a very special holiday. The accommodation was luxuriously spacious. We stayed in Svapna pavilion, so had a beachside view with its own pool. We were limited from using our outside dining pavilion because of fear of mosquitoes after dark. There were problems with the anti-mosquito zapper, torch, reading light, WC hose, little things, but they were fixed within hours,of raising them with the butler, Nadeesha, whose service was excellent. The main pool was truly superb, and because we enjoy pre-breakfast swims, we had it all to ourselves each of the three mornings we had there. The menus were extensive, and food delicious except for the coffee. Sri Lanka clearly doesn't do coffee well, according to my partner.

When I visit Sri Lanka again I will stay at no other place. The staff is the friendliest you will ever encounter. Our breakfast and supper was brilliant. I must say that "Dill" our host was the friendliest and most helpful I have ever encountered. I have travelled to a few places but never been treated with such hospitality. A must place to stay if anybody visits Kulutara in Sri Lanka. Thank you Karl it was wonderful

Very happy with every aspect of the stay. From the welcome drink at the lobby till the moment the concierge put the luggage in the boot of our car when checked out, everything was perfect. Nothing to complain at all. All staff members were very professional and courteous. There is a staff member called Duminda at Paruwa restaurant. Somehow he sensed what we would need and was always there with that. Keep up the good work guys. Instead of one night stayed two nights. Definitely will stay there when in Sri Lanka next time.

We had an excellent six days at the Mermaid hotel. The hotel is wonderfully situated and easily reached from Colombo. The staff are friendly and helpful, attentive to the guests needs and full of smiles. The rooms are well-appointed with everything needed for a comfortable stay. The food is the best we've had in a hotel in Sri Lanka. The restaurant runs a buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner offering western and Sri Lankan dishes all of which are well cooked and presented. There is always lashings of fruit. This is certainly the best hotel we've stayed at in Sri Lanka over 13 years of visits

I booked a double room and a triple room for 20th of October. When we checked in we had an issue with the 3rd bed in the triple room as it’s was a small extra bed with a thinner mattress which wasn’t comfortable. We were very upset and dissatisfied. When we complained it was dealt by a gentleman called Raj from front office. He swiftly changed with a different bed with a much comfortable mattress. He also offered us a late check out and some complimentary sandwiches as good will. He made sure we are happy with our stay. We stayed in a deluxe room 225 and 226 with sea view. Bed is very comfortable and I relaxed well. Bathroom have a shower with a nice shower-head which was brilliant. Breakfast was excellent. Dinner was ok. Staff was very friendly and smiling. Over all I recommend this hotel and will come back.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We went for a wedding at the hotel. This was a clean, modern hotel, with swim up bar. Good for families and couples. You cannot swim in the ocean this time of year, too dangerous. However, there was a large pool area. This was off season for Sri Lanka, so the hotel was not full. Staff was cheerful and friendly. Good laundry service if you need it. We did not go into the town of Kalutara, but stayed at the resort. There were tours available from the hotel, and we took one to Galle.

I visited Villa Ocean view for a brief stay in December with my Parents. Stayed overnight. Location is very good - adjacent to a beatiful strtch of beach in wadduwa. Food is also quite ok.Cleanliness and facilities can be improved- Hotel appears rather neglected. Everything was offset by exceptional staff-Specially Sanjeewa, Lasantha, Priyankara and Dhammika. The management should consider the friendly and well trained staff as an asset to the hotel. Their hospitality thoughtful attention and collegiality made this stay a memorable one. If i were to return here again, it is manily cecause of the warmth of the hospitalithy of the staff!!

We thourghly enjoyed our one night stay at the Kamili Beach Villa. Our room 108 was very spacious excellent shower room and very well appointed, tea making facilities small fridge dressing gowns and even a laundry service well done Agoda for booking this hotel for us. We had the evening buffet which was very good and a good choice for all tastes, the bar served local drinks and also branded drinks at a reasonable price.All of the staff that we came in contact with were very polite and pleased to help.

-the cottage was very low standard, bad cost-performance ratio -it was a hotel only for Special occasions (as we had to find out), events like weddings etc, so we had 3 weddings and they did 1 commercial video clip there, during our 5 day stay, so we couldn't use The Pool area for about 3 days, because it was either crowded by wedding guests or by a camera Crew -.- and at The beach area there were no sunbeds and they didn't have beach-towels -if it would have been only 1 Wedding during our stay,we could have lived with that, but The Hotel didn't mention anything on their Homepage about being an Event-Hotel, so we hadn't expected that: it was a big brashness - after we made a claim, they weren't really cooperative, neither The manager nor The managing Director felt interested or responsible for it -when we suggested a refund of some money, they didn't care about that and only offered us a cocktail and after we hadn't been content with that they offered us hesitantly a Free dinner, which is the least I mean -The beach was very dirty, and one day they burned sth around the Pool area, The smoke was all around The Hotel area, so I had to ask them to stop The fire, cause we couldn't use anything but The room, and we didn't came there to stay in The room all The time -.- -we had to wait very long for every drink and meal, but The food was good -all in all, it wasn't worth our money,we came there to relax and left totally unrelaxed and angry -it seems that they don't really care about their Hotel guests, because they only organize events -they only have 4 Cottages in their area at all, only 4 sun beds and 2 sun umbrellas -we didn't feel comfortable there,it was an awful stay!!!

This hotel has changed names regularly from Oceanic Blue to Blue Ocean Villa ( as per Agoda) and now White Sands. We booked it as Blue Ocean Villa and on our arrival to Waddawa no one had heard of it and the phone number on the booking was incorrect. Hence finding it was very difficult as the Tuk Tuk driver took us to hotels with similar names but to no avail. Eventually we got the correct directions: down a bumpy, dirt road (track) Once settled in we had a great stay as we had the Villa to ourselves and the manager was very obliging fixing small problems such as the hot water.Nothing was too much for him. The beach is fabulous for swimming or watching the fishermen daily netting their catch. The train or bus to Colombo are within walking distance. Facilities include pool, billiard room, gardens and lovely clean rooms.A fantastic looking Villa. Quite luxurious in its hey day.

I've stopped at Mr & Ms Silva's villa for 5 days. These 5 days were like staying "at home". Silva's family are helpful, tactful and kind people – they will make you feel safe and comforted. Mr Nelson can show you best sights or attractions nearby or help you organise your trip across the country – but will never insist or be disappointed by your refusal. Tip: there is a nice option to order meals (without leaving the house), that are carefully cooked by nice and gentle Ms Silva. The price is 2-3 cheaper then at any cafe, and the portions are immense, I didn't ever manage to finish the plate. BTW if you kindly ask, the family will show you everyday life of Sri Lankan people, from cooking national food together with Ms Silva to (!) visiting the elders nursing home for poor people which is maintained by the family. Mr Nelson, I wish you the nicest guests to come to your place, and your guesthouse to prosper!

Let me start from the begining, the receptionists asked me wheather i brought a print out to double check wheather this booking is correct, n i said NO i didnt bring a print out, n she send me to the main road to get a print out, the room is ok, but the linen... hmmm there were soooo much patches in the linen, and the curtains, i think they dont wash those curtains once a year even, n food, OMG, try srilakan food, atlest u can eat those, but not western, u cant even think to eat, i will never ever recommend this horrible hotel to anyone

I stayed here by myself for four nights at the end of a four week trip to Thailand and Sri Lanka. A family run guest house run by a friendly couple. Lovely gardens and nice pool. Only a few rooms so the pool does not get crowded. Although near the beach there are no cafes, bars or restaurants near by. I used a local Tuk Tuk guy to take me to the 'strip' with restaurants around 6 km away next to Tangerine Beach Hotel. The beach near by is not really for relaxing as it is a ' working beach' for the local fishing villages. A nice place to relax and unwind but not the place if you are looking for the night life! I ate a couple of times at the hotel and the local food served was OK. Breakfast was good but there is no menu only what you are given - this is common in Sri Lanka. There is a new hotel being built next to the guest house but I didn't find it intruded on my relaxation. You will need to use a Tuk Tuk if you want to get around. It is too far and too hot to walk to the restaurants and bars which are mainly in Kalatura 6 km away.The room was not clean or serviced during my stay. This also seems common in Sri Lankan guest houses. I think you need to ask and they will do it for you. The WiFi seemed to get switched off when no guests were in the common areas such as the terrace and pool. The signal is weak in the rooms. For the price it was good value. The shower had hot water, the air con was quiet and the TV had a good range of channels.

I really got a punishment by selecting this hotel to stay. I am very sad because my son (4.5 months) also had to faced this bad situation. They gave us a uncleaned room and there were some hairs on the pillows and very dirty bed-sheets, and towels. We complained and requested another the room. 2nd room is little bit OK than the first room. But it was like a kitchen and very hot. We increased the fan as full speed and although we was unable to stay and my son was crying whole night. We didn't select A/C room because it was not suitable for son. At the night, I called to reception to request a water bottle. He said that manager locked the room and unable to serve it. I think, it is not a place to choose for any kind of event as a hotel because there is no garden to take a rest.

My stay at ocean ripple was amazing! The staff, accomadation and location are Excellent. 30 second walk to the beach and a 2 minute walk to the train station. The chef was top notch! best food in Sri Lanka. The owners son spoke very good English and was a fountain of knowledge about Sri Lanka. He even continued to email me through out my travels to make sure I was getting on ok and if I needed any help with anything along the way. Overall a great stay, Defo recommend and I will be heading back for sure. Harry

We had a warm welcome and were promised a room upgrade from the Guest relations manager, however she realised we had already paid for a better than average room, so no upgrade and that was the only negative thing about our stay. The food was good, especially the okra salad!! The F&B Manager and Assistant Manager were always available and trying their utmost to make sure our stay was brilliant, we even had complimentary wine sent to our room. The chefs were friendly, shared their recipes with me and were very apologetic when their was a tiny problem with a dish. Every member of staff was friendly, professional and courteous and we were really sorry to leave. We loved sitting in the garden, listening to the waves crash onto the beach. This hotel is very new and they are still making a few adjustments but for us it was a perfect end to our holiday in Sri Lanka

Raj is one of the nicest people we met on our tour of Sri Lanka. He was helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Our room had no aircon so he set up 2 fans in the room. The Inn has a juice bar cafe on site. I really liked the accommodation. Raj is doing a great job there. Bathrooms and rooms are very clean and modern. Anything that wasn't right about the visit had nothing to do with the Raj Mahal.

It was a perfect choice, overall our short stay in sri lanka was great. Because the resort only has 15 rooms for guests, it feels like youre in a private resort. The calmness, cleanliness & friendliness of the people around you makes your vacation a relaxing one. Janaka, Sue and all the staff are really attentive of your needs. They assisted us with everything during our short stay. I would definitely recommend this resort.
