Traveler impressions of Warsaw

More about Warsaw

The history of Warsaw is very long, dating back to medieval times. The city was tragically destroyed by the Nazis during World War II, but it rose from the wreckage and rebuilt, now a gorgeous metropolis of modern museums and plenty of entertainment. Warsaw is served by Warsaw Chopin Airport, which is within easy reach of the city center, and situated near a wide selection of hotels.

The majority of sightseeing in Warsaw will be concentrated in the city center. It goes without saying that some exploration of the history of this city is a must for any visitor to Warsaw, especially pertaining to the period of the Holocaust. As such, the Museum of the History of Polish Jews is a must-see. This museum chronicles the lives and legacies of Polish Jews dating back to their first arrival in the country. Instead of just focusing on the single tragic period, visitors to this museum will get a more comprehensive view of the culture and history of Polish Jews. Directly facing this modern museum stands the Monument to the Warsaw Uprising, which is a dedication to the heroes of the Jewish ghettos of the uprising which took place in 1943. It’s a very important monument that often sees a great deal of tourists and photographers flocking to it, and not something to be missed.

The royal history of Poland is best displayed in the area of Castle Square, where travelers can get a feel for the ancient city. In addition to being able to see and photograph the Royal Castle, the square is a popular public meeting place that often attracts locals, travelers, and street performers.

There’s much more to see and learn about Warsaw, and the interactive map on this page is a great way to find out where the attractions and hotels can be found in this exciting city.
