As the hub of Central China, Wuhan is an impressive city with lots to offer. There are plenty of neat sites like the Hubei Provincial Museum, but the one that has to take the cake is the Wuhan Sexology Museum, tucked into a hotel and one of only two in China.
Public transit is a breeze with the metro and bus systems. Be warned, though, that there are three separate train stations, so be sure you head to the right one, though they're accessible by the metro.
The shopping is very good, from regular stores, to street markets and malls. There is so many different places to eat, small family operated places, regular restaurants, and specialized higher end restaurants.
I saw a number of very interesting places. The Wuhan museum was very good, and free as well. The Yellow Crane Tower was very nice as well. The Wuhan Zoo was very well run, and clean.
Wuhan is made up of three cities - Wuchang and Hankou & Hanyang. Wuchang and Hankou have some decent places for night life, though Hankou is the modern of the two with Wuchang having excellent alley food.
Sightseeing-wise, Wuhan suffers from being a modern agglomeration. The Yellow Crane Tower is its sole historical building worth visiting. The Hubei Provincial Museum though does have some spectacular exhibits and is one of the better museums in China.
WuHan City is known for the famous ancient building, Huang He Lou, the building was built since Sui Dynasty( correct me if i am wrong) and it was destroyed and rebuilt a few times (change of dynasty).
So for those who have interest in the ancient building in china and also their rich culture, feel free to make a trip there( 80RMB)
You can join one or two days local tours. The tours fare are not expensive. Since most of sightseeing places need to pay entry fee, so joining tours will be better.
Tours are all including the entry fee.
Wuhan is a city that is really lovely. There are many tourist attractions but the one that is the finest is one of the boat trips down the Yangtse River.
A very large city and very hot in summer time. Good to visit during spring or autumn time. Not easy to get a taxi in tourist attraction points.
Visited the museum, the art museum, the Green Lake and the Yellow Crane Tower. Enjoyed all of them - but quite some distance from the hotel.
Wuhan is a silent city in my views, the travel place is only few parts of the city, it will take only 2 days then you can go to other city.
I read a little of Wuhan before having to go there on business. It is an enormous city that I have twice seen described as 'apocalyptic'.
I can see why. It is a city that moves at an hysterical pace that simply wears one out. The traffic is atrocious and ever impatient and noisy. The air is grey with pollution. If I never have to go there again it will be far too soon! Yes, there are amazing shopping malls, there is East Lake and west Lake that have a little greenery beside them and the Yellow Crane Tower which is interesting. I don't think that there is any likelihood that it on the tourist trail for any tourist from anywhere. You go there, like me, because you have to do business there!
There are lots of universities in Wuhan, thus lots of young people. People are very curios and always eager to try out their English.
It does help if you speak some mandarin. I found out that Wuhan is also the Silicon valley of China with lots of High-tech companies. This is probably of interest only to budding expatriates
A nice and well-organized city, good metro system. Worth to take a local cross-river ferry to experience the life of local commuters.
Very convenient to take the inter-city High Speed Rail from the city center by metro
A very nice historical city with a rich culture. People are cultured and well mannered and proud to be from such a rich heritage.
This is the place where legends lived, fought, loved and died in. This is a place of Wars, of Romance, of Kungfu, etc. The Pinnacle of Chinese History!
Wuhan is a very complex and very crowded metropolitan consisting of 3 towns. Don't ever get stuck in traffic during rush hour.
it's virtually impossible to find a taxi, or even room in a bus. One should carefully consider their purpose of visiting there & try find accommodation very close there.
Its more of an industrial city and developing at a very fast rate. More for business. If tour, you will have to travel further
a very friendly city Night markets are amazing. Not much bar life that we could find. Taxis easy to get and cheap.
Food great, lots of street food which is excellent Lots of shopping. Parks are amazing.
