Compared to other German cities, Würzburg is not well known to tourists. This is a shame since Würzburg certainly has a lot to offer.
The scenic location of the city adjacent to the Main River is just beautiful. The slopes surrounding the city is covered with wine fields and adds to a nice environment. The city itself offers quite a few sights, out of which the Marienberg castle as well as the Residenz palace and the St. Kilian Dom (Church) are must-see destinations. Würzburg also offers lots of stores for those craving for shopping possibilities. The annual wine festival is highly recommendable.
