Xian hotels & places to stay

The staff at the hostel were really friendly and spoke good English, they even booked us a taxi to the train station when we were leaving. The sky bar on the 12th floor is great and the staff in there were really nice and the food was ok. Only downfall was the room was stinking of cigarettes when we arrived and it was freezing cold, the heater didn’t work very well but it was cheap so good if you’re on a budget

I had been missed my train so I found this hostel and direct booked. It said only 6 bed dormitory and I thought it was mixed but it's female dorm. Located near Xi'an Drum Tower and Quarter Muslim just walk 10 mins. They provide sandals, toilets are clean, even so staff couldn't speak English fluently but we communicate easily. Just two things minus for me : * The receptionist is in inside after 10 meters corridor so not a bit secure since there were a room after entrance and no one keep watch. (Well at least it's my opinion) 2. I smell cigar inside the living area, because I can't stand with smoke cigar. It's indoor and supposed to be non-smoking area, might. But after all, it was a pleasant to stay in there!

Near to MRT station,just beside the station. Walking distance to Muslim Quarter, Bell and Drum Tower.The MRT is to Xian North Station where you can take High Speed Train to Huashan, Luoyang, Zhengzhou etc. Hotel is clean and staff is very helpful. They also provide tour to local spot and also performance show. Restaurant area is amazing, good for rest and hang with backpackers from different country. Highly recommended!

I was very impressed with this hostel from checkin to checkout. Staff is very friendly and speak English. You get clear directions to the hostel sent to you. We stayed in a double bed private and it was only $25 a night but was the best room weve stayed in in china. Spacious and clean. They even have daily housekeeping, something we havent seen in Chinese hostels. The bar/lounge area is a nice place to hang out too. Theres plenty of signs and cards you can take with you that have directions and advice for things around Xian.

Although they advertise as hote, actually it is not a hotel. It is just stay in one apartment with other , located on 8th floor. Not give full facilities. Although they advertise aircon facilities, they keep the aircon remote ,don't give us and just open the window. If you can't give , why did you advertise that facilities? Really disappoint. Never stay at there again!!!

A good find in the Muslim quarter, the location was fantastic. The staff were good, the lobby was a great space and the rooms were a decent size. For backpackers this is brilliant and under any other circumstances I would have given it full marks . However, I am shortly going home to UK after 6 months in China and had a 25 kg suitcase to carry around. There is no lift and the staff are all young girls. No ones fault, but a warning would have been appreciated.

We stayed at Zergs for four nights and really liked it. We got delayed on a very long bus ride from Chengdu, and missed our first night and they did not charge us. We also got a lovely room with two beds, but asked for "the big bed" we saw in the photos, and they switched us to one. The room was just lovely with a thin mat on a huge cement platform (get the western beds if you like soft beds). The hotel is down the antiques alley (if you are coming from the southern gate it is the second right). Once you walk down this for a bit you need to turn into the beautiful courtyard with all the calligraphy artist booths. Zergs is up on the 3/4th floor. There is an amazing roof deck and you can do laundry for just 10 yuan/kuai. Most nights the hostel is super quiet because the artist stalls all shut down in the evening. My only complaint was the owners live here and the common area is very much their living area, so we had to endure 3 hours of pretty bad bongo drum practice one afternoon when we were feeling under the weather and another night the owners friends came over and they were drunk and loud for a bit. That being said, it was worth the agrivation because the location and room were so cool.

Great value and atmosphere, thoroughly recommend, in my top two hostels that I have visited in China along with the Lost Garden Guesthouse in Kunming (I have clocked up 10 years in China, including working as a guide). A note about Xi'an, as with most things in China get up early to appreciate Xi'an. In the Tang Dynasty this city (called Chang'an) was the biggest city on earth, home to 1 million people and at the end/beginning of the Silk Road. The formerly lovely muslim quarter is now truly hideous at night, but do visit the Grand Mosque (清真大寺, the first mosque built in China (adults shouldn't wear shorts). The Terracotta Army is a world class relic ruined by lousy curation, lower your expectations and read up on it, because there is minimal information in Chinese let alone Chinglish. the Mosque is far better, closer and cheaper, 10 minutes walk from the hostel. If you do go to the terracotta army you can get a cheap bus from Xi'an train station no. 306, 7 yuan one way.

This place was hard to find. You would need to call them to have them direct you to the right place. Felt like they could do a better job in giving instructions to find the place upon booking, but they never engaged me at all. If I didn't have a china SIM card, to be honest, I'm pretty sure I would never be able to find this place because I can't call them. It's near a bus stop, but not walking distance to the train line (about 1.5 - 2km). The previous reviews seem that this is a really good place, but our stay was just alright. Place was quite dusty, but we dealt with it because we just needed a place to stay at night after our sightseeing. Wifi was great though!

Unbeatable location in the villlage at the terra cottage warriors. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even brought us watermelon and scheduled an excellent English-speaking official tour guide who picked us up at the requested time from the hostel. The bed was the most comfortable hostel bed I've slept on in China. Note that the bathroom facilities are simple but functional.

This was a NIGHTMARE place to find as the cab driver and several people just did not know where this place was. We resorted to going to an expensive hotel and asking directions as they could speak English. We were there during the week long National holiday as the rooms were seriously over priced. The guy working there was ok but spoke no English, so had to get another customer to help translate. The place is located on the south side of the city walls and is a 3km walk to its gate. Trying to get taxis in Xian is a bit of a nightmare so not many taxis will take you into town. The room itself is large, up on the 7th floor of a run down looking apartment, had a TV and large bay windows. On the other hand, the toilets were just a disgrace.they are not fit for human use as the stench of sewage was disgusting and they were just not cleaned. We did not have a choice and we had to stay here as everyone was on holiday but would not recommend this place.

The building of the hotel is quite old. the staff don't speak english but they are quite friendly n willing to use app to translate and help you. location is just outside of the city wall. bus transport is easy from here. just walk less than 400m or so to a bus stop. the Air conditioning works but during autumn when it hits 0 or less, it is not sufficient so you will still feel cold. so for maybe summer and spring this place will be nice.

Call Hotel after baggage retrieval for pick-up at 12 AM -- need to provide : Terminal 2, Terminal 2nd Floor and Door Exit Number. Hotel van arrived within 10 minutes. Extremely convenient for short overnight stay. Very clean room at low price. Hotel owner made taxi arrangement (30rmb per person) to go directly into Xian City Center the next morning. Airport Shuttle cost 28rmb (25 & 3 insurance) per person.

This was a great hotel in xian. The owner and his daughter are so kind and helpful. They pick you up from the airport for free and we're always there when we needed them. The daughter showed us around the area, which has tons of street food and some markets. It's only 5 minutes from the airport and about one hour from the city center. They can help arrange transportation to the city center and the terra-cotta warriors, too. Keep in mind they know little English and it is best to communicate in Chinese if possible. The hotel was nice with basic essentials. The bathroom has a traditional Chinese shower rather than a western tub.

The rooms are reasonably clean but I found the bed a bit hard. The sound of traffic is a constant. The staff were friendly and tried to be helpful. The restaurant doesnt offer small meals. All dishes seemed to be family size. I think that inbetween main meal times the restaurant should consider selling coffee, tea and cakes and give guests the chance to chill out, read a book or just relax. The weather is freezing outside and not condusive to getting out and about to see the sights. The in house TV in each room could offer movies to guests.

Hotel location is the closest I can find that is close to both the Xian North Fast Speed Train and the airport. From the North train station we took the metro ( 2 yuan) to the 5th station, then caught a taxi about ( 8-10 yuan) metered taxi to the hotel. Once we arrived we were greeted with smiles and warm welcomes, make us feel very comfortable even tho the hotel is not near much stores, but they do have a cafe with lovely breakfast buffet. Right next to the hotel is a convenience store and an unexpected wonderful restaurant (should definitely check it out). We ended up booking another night at this same hotel and would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel. (FYI: This hotel is chained and they have another location near the Drum Tower City Wall if you prefer to stay in the city)
