Yangshuo hotels & places to stay

After a few weeks exploring the fast paced cities of Korea and China I really needed a place to stop. Alila Yangshuo was the perfect last minute decision I will remember for a while to come. From the moment I stepped off the plane and was greeted by Aaron and our driver to the attentive Mark at checkin my welcome was seamless and warm. Personal touches like the GM coming to meet me at breakfast the first morning to all the smiling faces of the staff as they treated me by name each and everything day really made me feel looked after. Thank you Alila Yangshuo you are beautiful.

All the hotels in Yangshuo are better outside the town for fresher air and this is no exception. You will need to arrange transportation separately to the hotel and hotel staff are more than happy to help. The rooms are nicely decorated with so much old furniture put to use. The view is breathtaking from the balcony too. You actually feel like you are reliving in the old China like in those movies. With modern facility like hot shower, bath tub, TV and most importantly bed warmer and heaters. Food at their restaurants are also amazing and freshly prepared and all staff members are patiently always there to help you from arranging tours and explaining about facility to recommendation. The only downside maybe climbing the stairs to higher floor as we stayed in 4th floor but we do not mind the climbing. Dont forget to drop by their backyard garden and play with the little pug they have running around.

My husband and I just returned from 4 days/nights at this hotel. We rarely stay in one spot that long, but as soon as we arrived at the Moondance, we decided to book our last 2 nights here as well. When traveling, it is always difficult to gauge the quality of a hotel online. I was particularly worried about China, having never been there and reading lots of terrible reviews of the hotels and staff generally around the country. Moondance was the first stop on our 3 week trip (after a night in HK), around China and we were so happy we booked the property. First, the rooms are enormous and the balconies are a perfect and peaceful way to take breakfast privately in the mornings. We regretted not bringing cigars, as they would also have been perfect for a nightcap and cigar. The location is wonderful- Yangshuo itself is a mess- a loud, party machine with lots of Chinese tourists. We are westerners from New York City, and appreciated being outside of the city but close enough for a short taxi ride out to dinner/drinks at night. The hotel is only 8 kms away, and we made use of the free bikes to go in during the day. The service was standout, as well. Although some of the staff were a bit young, they tried their best to make sure everything we needed was taken care of. I asked a million questions to the one girl that spoke the best English, and she patiently answered and assisted us in every way. The cons- The food was mediocre. We only ate breakfast there since it was included and we were too far out of the city to grab something else. We also had underwhelming sandwiches the night we arrived. However, we were happy that they at least offered eggs for breakfast, rather than just a Chinese option, so we didn't get too bothered by it. Also, you can't really walk to anything, if that is important to you.

The location of this beautiful boutique hotel is perfect, very nearby to the central West Street, but on a separate alley so away from the noise. I stayed here for four nights with my brother and from the start we were delighted with the beautiful room we had here and the cozy boutique charm of the accommodation as a whole. Cheap 5rmb washing machine upstairs also very useful for travelers like us that don't like to carry too much clothing around. The supply of free snacks in the room was also awesome! Great friendly service from the staff and a much enjoyed stay in Yangshuo. Highly recommended!

Although our stay is not long. But I can tell that the owner was really friendly and helpful to all guests. She give us suggestions of where and how to go. Also when at the next morning it's raining, so we cannot go anywhere, we are having a great tea time. The place was clean, facilities was beyond expectations compare with price. Only missed one thing is a lift. Location also good, not far from West Street. Highly recommended stay at Yangshuo.

I think this is the best place to stay in XingPing. Recommendation, if you not speak Chinese, batter to talk with stuffs:) the price for a renting a bicycle it side hotel more expensive than outside (the price outside 15 per day, in yangshuo 10 per day). The stuff is always ready too help, very good breakfast inside hotel, we loved it! In hotel a lot of foreigners, view from my window was the best!!! Ins easy to take a bus to Yangshuo 阳朔 8RMB per person! And I'm propose you to rent a biceckles at this cities, as yangshuo and other cities around are so different! Thanks to stuff:) we will come back again!

we are so happy we booked our stay at the yangshuo tea cozy hotel! it is located in a serene and idyllic setting alongside the yulong river, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and countryside from the room, yet only minutes from the bustling downtown (more touristy part) of yangshuo. this is a quaint hotel (similar to a bed and breakfast in the us) that provides a warm and familial setting for guests - it is attractively designed resembling an ancient chinese teahouse that features modern and stylish design elements. the on-site hotel restaurant features a vast menu with both chinese and western cuisine (the noodles, steam bun and ginger tea were my favorite). it also has a wood-burning fireplace, books and games, providing a welcoming setting where guests can relax and lounge around. the best part about this hotel is the staff (english-speaking) - we were greeted each time we walked by and given reliable guidance where to go each day (referred to credible, good-quality vendors: restaurants, shops, bamboo raft vendors, legitimate and clean day spa, etc.) i definitely recommend travelers who appreciate nature or are looking for a relaxing vacation (whether solo, couples or families) to stay at the yangshuo tea cozy!

Yangshuo Riverside Retreat Hotel, is a lovely hotel with a very relaxed ambience with lots of outside spaces to sit in the gardens and enjoy the view or swim in the pool, the food was very good at a reasonable price and there was facility to sit outside or inside to eat. The staff spoke very good english and were very helpful with information, booking taxis, and activities, they could not be more helpful. The rooms were very spacious with a large double bed and single bed, with a balcony, and a very large bathroom and sit down toilet. The hotel looks out over the amazing mountains, and below is the river which is about 5 to 10 minutes walk away where you can get a ferry very cheaply across the river to Yangshuo if you want to get amongst the shops. There were families with children enjoying the Hotel facilities, would be a great place to give children space to play. I would definitely stay at the Hotel again.

I fully enjoyed my stay at the Yangshuo West Street Residence. The people at the front desk are fluent in Chinese and English and was able to help me plan my few days around Yangshuo. They were also able to help me get some laundry done at a very fair price per kilo. The location is great (right in the middle of West Street) and easily accessible by scooter or car via the alley behind the hotel.

I stayed at the Magnolia Hotel in Yangshuo for three wonderful nights. The location is superb just few steps from the river. The rooms on the first floor are big, clean and comfortable. The patio outside on the same floor relaxing and lovely. The decoration was very eye pleasing. The young ladies at the reception always smiling and helpful. The restaurant joined to the hotel "Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant" the best vegetarian restaurant; and I know, I am a vegetarian. We ate there every night. It was a little noisy early in the morning when the traffic started but not bad...it was worse because I prefer to open the windows instead of turning on the air-condition. There is free computer access at the ground floor.

My family and I currently reside in HongKong from USA and we were looking for a place to chill for the weekend without having to fly. We picked Yangshuo because of its newly built Banyan Tree where we planned to stay at first. Somehow we ended up choosing Sudder Street and it was clearly the right choice. We hesitate at first since we've never stay in a guesthouse in China. Didn't know what to expect. Also, guesthouses seem more appropriate for young teens. Neither I nor my family were teens. I'm surprised to find out the owner was a famous book writer in China and he speaks perfect Cantonese, him and his wife (a cheerful Japanese lady)'s love story was written in one of his books. The couple was nice and friendly. Humble folks. Industrial style throughout the guesthouse. Rooms were clean with awesome view. Guests were from around the world, mostly teens. Nice to chat with. Most of them were traveling during their gap year. We enjoyed staying at the Sudder Street guesthouse a lot, perhaps more than Yangshuo itself...

This place was recommended to me by a friend so I chose it to bring my BF on a surprise week-end - as we live in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It was just perfect, really quick (we arrived Saturday at 11AM and left at 2PM the day after) but so nice! The hotel is wonderful, room charming, bathroom perfect and the all old farm is warm and welcoming. The local staff is absolutely wonderful, every person is helpful, polite and very nice with guests. They also offer a lot of activities and services: we managed to rent bicycles 2 times, we had breakfast, lunch and dinner (just next to the fireplace!) at Gligging Tree, and we even got Chinese massages which were very good. I highly recommend this place and we definitely come back next time we want to escape the city or even bring family and friends discover Yangshuo area.

This hotel is unique in terms of location and ambiance. Getting to the hotel requires some efforts but it worth to do and it isn't bit very difficult. You need to go to xingping pier and then to cross the river with the boat (each 10 mn). The owner comes to pick you up at the pier, and the other side of the river. Then start a 10mn way on a car, with a road quite bumpy, but it is quite fun and will lead you to a place unique where you can see the stars in the night. To go for walk to Xingping down town , we walked and to come back too we walked back in the dark night, . It was very amzing to see the stars in the sky as usually we cannot see it. The personnel is very helpful to indicate you the best place ti visit and take time to go with you to climb on the peak not so far to the hotel. The view is absolutely unique and amazingThere is 2 dogs and 3 puppies, you walk and climb the montains with the dogs, it was a real plus to have them with us. The foods is good and fresh.

The hotel rooms were very clean and modern. The staff were lovely however spoke almost no English. We had a guide whom helped to translate when she was around. Otherwise it is all about the sign language. They tried very hard to help but don't except to get recommendations for activities or explanations about the area. This is not a complaint just a heads up. We stayed in the rooms on the top floor which were beautiful (5 flights of stairs to walk up). They were missing some amenities that one would expect at a "5 star" hotel. No closet or drawers, no safe, no hooks to hang towels, no mini fridge to store food or drinks. Nothing to ruin your holiday by any means. The location was great! It is on the other side of the river from the main town so you could relax. The view from the balcony was spectacular. Perfect for watching the sunset and all of action along the river. There is a ferry just outside the hotel to take you across the river to the town. It cost RMB $1 in the day and $2 at night. Breakfast was very basic but was enough to get your day started (boiled eggs, toast, corn and noodle soup). If you have any special dietary requirements then go prepared with your own food. Overall we had a lovely time staying there and would recommend it.

More unique experience being away from the more touristy parts of the town. Resort is situated at a more secluded part along the river - a perfect getaway from the hordes of tourists but still easily accessible to the town as well as hikes around. the rooftop was quite nice especially at night and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, food was also very good here! thanks for the great stay!

Located right on the banks of the river, surrounded by those stunning limestone karst mountains, the setting of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat is truly breathtaking. We stayed in a ground floor room, with a private terrace area, which was perfect for sitting with a beer, a book, and just soaking in that view. There is also a fantastic paved walking/running/cycling path that runs along the river, winding beside rice paddy fields, that starts right on the doorstep of the hotel and allows you to explore for several kms, perfect photograph spots with almost every step. Special mention has to go to the staff of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat - extremely friendly, regularly providing assistance beyond expectations and with very good English skills. In particular, Ally was an absolute marvel, spending countless hours tenaciously helping us figure out the best way for us to make the long journey from Yangshuo to our next destination in Fenghuang - so patient and understanding, always with a smile. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

This hotel is not worth the $45 we were going to pay. We walked in to what seemed like a old worn out make shift hotel. The bedrooms looked decent. But the rest of the hotel was dirty. Cats running around inside where people eat. We did not actually stay the night because when we arrived there was suppose to be a restaurant and they had given the chef the day off. We were hungry, cold, & tired. No comfort here especially for foreigners. It's far away from the city. If you want a nice place to stay in his area for same price a few hotels closer in next to Tujia.com hotel is beautiful & new place. And the manager is very nice. No English.

We were extrmemly glad that we had 'upped the stars' and booked the Green Lotus while in Yangshuo. The room was spacious and very well appointed. I was put-off that one needed to pay extra for all spa-related treats. managed to book a helpful tour guide through a hotel employee and our stay in the area was great and timely appropriate. Did all the must-do and crossed back into Green Lotus sanctuary for respite, refreshment and renewed will to face the cacophony of holiday Yangshuo.

Note that the guesthouse doesn't accept Visa or MasterCard contrary to what is stated in the listing. Furthermore, no ATMs in XingPing would let us take cash out and we had to go to nearby Yangshuo. As for the hotel itself, the rooms were cozy and very clean, and we were always greeted warmly by the staff. They even provided us with a little packed breakfast when we left early on the last morning. Highly recommended.

The Deluxe or VIP Building is located by the side of the main building where the hotel lobby is situated (did not cause us any inconveniences but wif downpour may get a bit wet). Room was fine & comfortable. Upon arrival they put in the 3rd bed. For Impression Liu San Jie, Tour Guide will pick you up from Hotel lobby but u need to take a taxi back to the hotel (5 - 7mins taxi). You can walk back prob 20mins - hotel is along the main road leading to "Impression" grounds. We arrived late 7pm & left early 7am, so can't comment on the dinning facilities. Our breakfast was packed for us - taxi ride from Yangshuo to Guilin takes about an hour (scenic) rmb270.

What a pleasant stay ! After 5 days of unrest in chinese towns, I was very happy to discover this small ho(s)tel, just outside of Yangshuo. Staff awesome and really helpful, nice common area and flowered terrace, spacious room, perfect shower... And after a few steps you reach the river and the beautiful countryside. If you want to explore it a little bit more, the hostel lend bicycles and e-sccoters :) Everything was perfect and I highly recommand to stay in this ho(s)tel, much more than inside the town. We are already planning our next trip back to the HL Garden Hotel. The service was unbelievable. We felt like we were guests in someones home rather than renting a room at a hotel. The owner and the staff went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant stay. The tour packages that they booked for us were cheaper than any other travel agent in town. They hotel is a little ways outside town nestled in the midst of some small mountains. In the morning instead of waking up to traffic and horns. We woke up to the sound of birds outside out window. I will be more than happy to recommend this hotel to anyone.
