After a few weeks exploring the fast paced cities of Korea and China I really needed a place to stop. Alila Yangshuo was the perfect last minute decision I will remember for a while to come. From the moment I stepped off the plane and was greeted by Aaron and our driver to the attentive Mark at checkin my welcome was seamless and warm. Personal touches like the GM comi...

All is calm staying with YangShuo Banyan Tree! Villa Is heavenly. Breakfast quality is good & spread is wide; our best breakfast experience was the first morning at 6.30am; with no guest around, we could fully savor the breakfast! And lastly, do remember to take the free 1 hr raft along Li River!

All the hotels in Yangshuo are better outside the town for fresher air and this is no exception. You will need to arrange transportation separately to the hotel and hotel staff are more than happy to help. The rooms are nicely decorated with so much old furniture put to use. The view is breathtaking from the balcony too. You actually feel like you are reliving in the o...

My husband and I just returned from 4 days/nights at this hotel. We rarely stay in one spot that long, but as soon as we arrived at the Moondance, we decided to book our last 2 nights here as well. When traveling, it is always difficult to gauge the quality of a hotel online. I was particularly worried about China, having never been there and reading lots of terri...

This is the most luxurious resort in Yangshuo, but don't expect the Shangri-La though you'll pay the same price. No electricity issues like a lot of the smaller countryside hotels in the Yangshuo area. Beautiful blended modern/traditional Chinese architecture with very nice large rooms with outdoor balcony and patio bed. Most beautiful views of the karst mountains a...

There are lots of boutique hotel in Yangshuo but never regret for choosing Spring Hyatt Hotel! The staffs are very friendly and helpful, efficient as well. Location wise, it is away from Yangshuo West street 15 mins by car but it's totally fine for me as I am a light sleeper so I didn't book any hotel nearby West street.

The location of this beautiful boutique hotel is perfect, very nearby to the central West Street, but on a separate alley so away from the noise. I stayed here for four nights with my brother and from the start we were delighted with the beautiful room we had here and the cozy boutique charm of the accommodation as a whole. Cheap 5rmb washing machine upstairs also v...

this hotel location is great, we can access the famous Yangshuo West Streer just outside the hotel. But if we go to this place by taxi / car, we need to take a walk for only 3-4 minutes to reach this hotel. the receptionist speak english very well. they inform us clearly about how to flush the WC, turn on the TV, about how to take the bus from hotel to Yangshuo railway...

Although our stay is not long. But I can tell that the owner was really friendly and helpful to all guests. She give us suggestions of where and how to go. Also when at the next morning it's raining, so we cannot go anywhere, we are having a great tea time. The place was clean, facilities was beyond expectations compare with price. Only missed one thing is a lift. Loc...

The Yangshuo Morningsun Hotel is a great find. The hotel has large rooms with large comfortable beds. The location is excellent (1/2 block off of West Street) on a quieter street. The staff spoke reasonable English. Obviously an older building but rooms had modern plumbing, separate shower and tub, ample hot water (not always the case in China, even at pricey place...

I think this is the best place to stay in XingPing. Recommendation, if you not speak Chinese, batter to talk with stuffs:) the price for a renting a bicycle it side hotel more expensive than outside (the price outside 15 per day, in yangshuo 10 per day). The stuff is always ready too help, very good breakfast inside hotel, we loved it! In hotel a lot of foreigners, vie...

we are so happy we booked our stay at the yangshuo tea cozy hotel! it is located in a serene and idyllic setting alongside the yulong river, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and countryside from the room, yet only minutes from the bustling downtown (more touristy part) of yangshuo. this is a quaint hotel (similar to a bed and breakfast in the us) that pro...

Yangshuo Riverside Retreat Hotel, is a lovely hotel with a very relaxed ambience with lots of outside spaces to sit in the gardens and enjoy the view or swim in the pool, the food was very good at a reasonable price and there was facility to sit outside or inside to eat. The staff spoke very good english and were very helpful with information, booking taxis, and activi...

Our stay at this hotel was a quiet interlude during our 4 week trip through China. The owners have designed a classy little boutique hotel that took us back to the era of the building's heyday as a farmhouse. Actually, there are several connected buildings that the owners have lovingly restored, and we enjoyed exploring the village and countryside where we got to see r...

I fully enjoyed my stay at the Yangshuo West Street Residence. The people at the front desk are fluent in Chinese and English and was able to help me plan my few days around Yangshuo. They were also able to help me get some laundry done at a very fair price per kilo. The location is great (right in the middle of West Street) and easily accessible by scooter or car via...

I stayed at the Magnolia Hotel in Yangshuo for three wonderful nights. The location is superb just few steps from the river. The rooms on the first floor are big, clean and comfortable. The patio outside on the same floor relaxing and lovely. The decoration was very eye pleasing. The young ladies at the reception always smiling and helpful. The restaurant joined to the...

The hotel was beautiful, clean and comfortable. The rooms smelled amazing, unlike most hotels which carry a moldy cigarette scent. The surrounding mountains took my breath away. The hotel staff provided everything we needed from free shuttle to and from Yangshuo Station, car to Yangshuo West Street, scooters for rent and free push bikes. They also assist in hiking tour...

The hotel is on the third floor of the small shop market. To get to the hotel lobby, one has to goes up 2 floors of dirty, dimly lit and narrow stair cases typical of local Chinese markets. The worst part is that right in front of the second floor stair case landing, there is a public bathroom that smells like, well, a Chinese public bathroom in a cheap market place. B...

My family and I currently reside in HongKong from USA and we were looking for a place to chill for the weekend without having to fly. We picked Yangshuo because of its newly built Banyan Tree where we planned to stay at first. Somehow we ended up choosing Sudder Street and it was clearly the right choice. We hesitate at first since we've never stay in a guesthouse ...

This place was recommended to me by a friend so I chose it to bring my BF on a surprise week-end - as we live in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China. It was just perfect, really quick (we arrived Saturday at 11AM and left at 2PM the day after) but so nice! The hotel is wonderful, room charming, bathroom perfect and the all old farm is warm and welcoming. The local staff is abso...

This hotel is unique in terms of location and ambiance. Getting to the hotel requires some efforts but it worth to do and it isn't bit very difficult. You need to go to xingping pier and then to cross the river with the boat (each 10 mn). The owner comes to pick you up at the pier, and the other side of the river. Then start a 10mn way on a car, with a road quite bum...

The Zen Box is located away from hustle bustle of towns, amidst orange farms and mountains. The view from the rooftop is the morning is the only reason you need to stay at least once at Zen Box. This is complemented by the love and personal attention that the host and hostess give to the guests. The rooms and common area are tastefully done.

The hotel rooms were very clean and modern. The staff were lovely however spoke almost no English. We had a guide whom helped to translate when she was around. Otherwise it is all about the sign language. They tried very hard to help but don't except to get recommendations for activities or explanations about the area. This is not a complaint just a heads up. We ...

Located right on the banks of the river, surrounded by those stunning limestone karst mountains, the setting of Yangshuo Mountain Retreat is truly breathtaking. We stayed in a ground floor room, with a private terrace area, which was perfect for sitting with a beer, a book, and just soaking in that view. There is also a fantastic paved walking/running/cycling path that...

This hotel is not worth the $45 we were going to pay. We walked in to what seemed like a old worn out make shift hotel. The bedrooms looked decent. But the rest of the hotel was dirty. Cats running around inside where people eat. We did not actually stay the night because when we arrived there was suppose to be a restaurant and they had given the chef the day off. We w...

my friend and i arrived there before 12:00pm, but still we are immediately arranged a room and escorted to the elevator. there is no air-conditioning in the hall ways but it's cool enough down in the lobby. it took some time for the air-con in our room to turn cool, but later we just found that all the air-con in yangshuo work that way. so it's not a big deal.as long a...

Jenny was so lovely and helpful - she speaks great English and gave us good advice about our stay in Yangshuo. She also went above and beyond to get us tickets to the local show. Be aware the hotel is up an alleyway just off the main Pan Tao Road - we did manage to walk past it before we found it. But Jenny was very helpful in giving us directions through WeChat.

This hostel completely exceeded my expectations. It was a really cute hostel that was a bit away from the main tourist area (along West Street) but it was the perfect location for accessing other attractions in the area and was really only a 10min walk to West Street- which gave us the opportunity to see more small nooks of Yangshuo that were not necessarily built up a...

We stayed here on Chinese New Year to replace an overbooked hotel. It served a purpose but not sure if we’d stay again. The water wasn’t hot. Perhaps this was because they rely on solar. The host is nice and friendly. It was ok but that’s all we can say about it. One night stop.

We loved our time in Xingping! We met some great people from the UK, Hong Kong and France. Crystal and Kevin have created a fun, open and social environment. We played beer drinking games our first night, and then the second night, we were even invited to join in a shared dinner with Crystal, Kevin, their friends and some of the guests that was fantastic. We highly r...

I've stayed at plenty of hostels before but never have I made friends and had such a good experience as I had here in yangshuo. The staff are all amazing, so friendly and so helpful (all speak great english) and I met so many great guests here. The tours and activities the hostel organises make exploring yangshuo so much easier and are great ways to meet people. The p...

most important for the non- Chinese who travel to Guilin is English. Front Desk Staff can speak English fluently. She advised me a place to visit in Yangshuo City. walking distance to West Street. for Muslim, there are two Halal La Mian restaurants nearby. the Bedsheet heater great. guys, I recommended this hotel for your stay in Yangshuo. Thank You, Wada

The hostel has a good ubication away from all the noise of the main road. The room was very big and quite clean. We had AC and a clean bathroom for us. The only problem in the room is that you could hear the sound of a drop (from the AC) hitting in the rooftop constantly, and it was disturbing. And the main problem in the hostel is that it doesn't offer ant excursio...

Very nice stay. Very quiet location with amazing views. But only a 15 minute walk into yangshou or ten minutes to the outskirts where theres restaurants and small supermarkets. And the owner zilin was very helpful and kind. We ate with her and the people working there twice and she didnt charge us anything. Then on the night we ate from the menu there, we had the best ...

I would definitely stay in this hotel again, the one and only "problem" was that the Agoda map said it was in the city centre, and it is not. It's about a 30 minute walk from the city centre. If you aren't planning on going to the attractions downtown, such as West Street, more than once or twice, it isn't a big deal at all. But because cabs are so expensive in Yang...

Family run, very welcoming and friendly although only the wife speaks any english. Large and nicely appointed rooms. Hard Chinese style mattresses, good for my back but not to everyones taste. Some rooms have western style toilets, some the squats so ask for your preference. Ideal location 10 minutes walk from the West St tourist area (with the lower rate) but in the '...

I could not be happier with my stay. - The hotel was easy to find even when I arrived at Yangshuo at midnight. It's a mild walk to West Street, Intercity Bus station and GongCha. Note: The Bus #5 runs between the North and South Bus Station - which costs 01RMB/trip/person - can drop you off at West Street (西街口), from there you can walk for 10 minutes to the hostel. T...

We stayed here for 3 nights during the first week of May 2013 but I easily could have spent more time here. This was one of the nicest and friendliest hotels we stayed in while we were in China. The hotel itself is a few kilometers outside Yanshuo in the beautiful countryside. It is a really quiet location but it is not too difficult to get to Yangshuo because it is a...

This hotel is located about a 10-15 walk from West street, so its close to the action without being right in it, which can be a good thing since the West street area is pretty loud. I got in super late, but the staff was waiting for me. He was friendly, helped me to my room, and showed me how to work all the appliances and the hot water in the shower. The only thing th...

My wife, brother, and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Yangshuo Moon Resort. The location is fabulous, and you'll be hard pressed to find a hotel owner and staff more willing to help coordinate your activities or prepare you meals. Mark and his team were fantastic. If you are looking for a great experience in a location of mind-blowing beauty, then the Yangshuo Moo...

Lucy met me at the bus station as I took the express Bus from Guilin Main Bus Station. As I had a bit of luggage, she got me to take the public bus from the station (a green bus) for 1 Yuan. She travelled on her scooter in front of the bus to let me know where to get off which I thought was considerate of my host. Stayed for 3 nights, Checked in, got the free map of Ya...

We chose the Best Eastern as it stated that it was very close to West Street when in fact it is a 25-30min walk. The rooms were small but ok, bed was comfortable. The hotel turned the hot water off during the day. We had to go ask them to turn it on to have a daytime shower, then had to wait 1 hour for it to heat up. There was no english at the reception desk. They hav...

The Outside Inn is nicely located about 4 km outside Yangshuo, very close to the Yulong river (a real paradise). The English-speaking staff is very friendly and helpfull, especially Hanna. The food is great. Bicycles can be used for free. We rented a motorbike and had a great day driving through the Chinese traffic. And last but not least our room was very clean and ca...

The inn is attached to the climbing store run by one of the famous rock climbers of Yangshuo. It is within a 5-10 minute walk from West Street. It is also close to many stores and eateries in the immediate area. The room itself is small and could be a little cramped for two people (but there are twin beds). The furnishings are a little worn. There are also a couple of...

Note that the guesthouse doesn't accept Visa or MasterCard contrary to what is stated in the listing. Furthermore, no ATMs in XingPing would let us take cash out and we had to go to nearby Yangshuo. The Deluxe or VIP Building is located by the side of the main building where the hotel lobby is situated (did not cause us any inconveniences but wif downpour may get a bit wet). We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff is really friendly and helped is with directions. The hotel is good value and the food great! Also, you can easily rent bikes (for free) and electric scooters (for 80 RMB). Moon Hill is not far - same as Yangshuo city center. Location was ideal for a 3-day trip!

Well we have been earlier to Yangshuo & we had selected another Hotel name HAUTING HOLIDAY INN , just located next to West Street . But Hotel Vienna is not very near to West Street . Yangshuo remained as easily accessible as we desired. Renting bicycles, taking walks, reading on our balcony, wandering around the town - it was relaxing, lovely, and scenic. We would highly recommend the evening show, "Impressions". The staff even noticed a discepancy between the date of our departing flight and length of reservation and caught it in time for us to...

Hotel is located near Liu San Jie Impression show venue. It is about 20-30 minutes walking to west street (where the shops and restaurants are). Nearby hotel there are a few local restaurants and minimarket. Walking to west street from hotel is via main road along the river. Mostly it is quite safe to walk at night but there is a stretch of about 500 metres which can b...

From the beginning to the end, there was nobody available at the "hotel" who tried to speak a minimum of English. Maybe a tip for Agoda to mention that in general with each hotel. They wanted us to call managers and people if we needed something ( we are on holiday, not working in a call center) so we didn't want this. 3 people have called us in perfect English but the...

We stayed in room 501 and 503, beds were comfortable, linen clean and so too the towels that were changed every day. We had a problem with the water and workers were very quick to fix the problem. Breakfast is not expensive but really not worth it. Bicycles are available for rent, even some motorbikes. Special mention, Henry is very accommodating, making great suggest...

We did have a wonderful and relaxing stay in this with love and passion renovated Chinese house. Having more than 100 years' history, this house used to be the home of a military hero's family. The hotel's name is definitely accurate. It is a scenic (great views from the room) retreat (3km from the too busy Yangshuo city). This was by far our most enjoyable and relaxing stay at a hotel or resort during our vacation in China and we've been recommending the resort to our friends. The hotel is very clean and well maintained with some very elegant touches from the proprietor including old wood panels and chairs. The proprietor takes care of guests and is very amenable. Note that the hotel is around 30min walk to Xingping but you can use bicycles or the many little tourist golf buggies. Generally the area is a stunning location

Most beautiful views of the karst mountains a...

we are so happy we booked our stay at the yangshuo tea cozy hotel! it is located in a serene and idyllic setting alongside the yulong river, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and countryside from the room, yet only minutes from the bustling downtown (more touristy part) of yangshuo. this is a quaint hotel (similar to a bed and breakfast in the us) that pro...

We were extrmemly glad that we had 'upped the stars' and booked the Green Lotus while in Yangshuo. The room was spacious and very well appointed. I was put-off that one needed to pay extra for all spa-related treats. managed to book a helpful tour guide through a hotel employee and our stay in the area was great and timely appropriate. Did all the must-do and crossed...

We had a fantastic stay in this charming hotel! The location of the hotel offers total privacy and great views of the nature, mountains and the calming sound of a small waterfall. Love the rest decks and the pool on the beautiful landscaped garden where you can savour the views and breeze. It is a highly recommended hotel, especially for the aesthete. Not just the ho...

Our stay at Apsara Lodge was absolutely fantastic. We've spent 3 days and 4 nights there. The location, in the countryside, is perfect to disconnect for the hustle and bustle of the city. The staff was lovely, very helpful (arranging the driver from/to Guilin Xi station or excursions) and always smiling. We've rented electric bikes and Jacky, our guide, was great. He h...

It was a wonderful stay at Yangshuo Ancient Garden Hotel for a family of 5 of us. Everything turned out to be even better than what I read from the reviews. People there have been doing a great job in keeping up the condition of the hotel, despite it's already 2 years old. I saw people every day in keeping up the pool and the garden. We love the pool. The room was ...
Traveler impressions of Yangshuo
Better than Guilin to see the Karst Landscape. the city is smaller and very close to the mountains and the rivers.
It is one of the most beautiful cities in China. Highly recommend to take bamboo boat trip in Yulong River.
Yangshuo is a quaint and beautiful city that really immerses modernity with traditional culture. The first thing I recommend would be to check the weather before you travel here as bad weather can hamper things like not being able to watch the Impression Show as the river was too high due to lots of rain.
The better rafting option would be along Yulong (Meet-the-Dragon) River via traditional manually-steered bamboo raft.
Nice place around 2-2.5hrs car ride from Guilin Bei High speed rail. In future when the HSR opens a stop at Yangshuo, it will be even more convenient.
Market Prices are reasonable but please don't forget to negotiate with shop staffs always. Tag prices are expensive.
Must see: Yulong River bamboo rafting, Dragon Bridge. Stay outside of the town and avoid the tourist mass.
Don't stay in the downtown area if you want to relax. The cars are always stuck in traffic. Stay near the river and in the mountains because the small streets of the town make it harder for car traffic to come through and most people are walking or biking.
YS is a place from where one embarks for other places of interest such as the Yulong River, XinPing and the caves.
One could walk the whole of their famous district known as their "East street". Nothing much to share as everyone is doing the same business as the other one, selling "Beer Fish" or hotelling business.
Take a day trip with bamboo raft and embrace the nature of Yangshuo. Different prices quotes for day trips.
To stay away from a crowded city, you should come here. There are many customs and traditions from the local ethic groups which is worth to come n experience.
All the activities circle in West Street. Do spend some time touring the Li River. Rent a bicycle & take a ride out to see the town.
Find a private tour. We were lucky that our private tour guide was very nice and his car was very new and clean.
Traveling down Yulong River with bamboo raft is a must. Would love to try the rock climbing also next time.
It's a very relaxing place, and there are lots of things you can do and see. In addition, it's not expensive to visit here.
I visited this area a few years back and cannot believe the change. So many bars and restaurants but none deliver quality dining or service.
Very pretty town, with stunning scenery that makes a great backdrop for a cycle around the town into the countryside, or trekking, mountain climbing etc.
The transformation of the bar street area is a big disappointment. Booming nightclub music in every bar with open doors, competing with one another, food and garbage all over the road and sidewalk, lots of really bad smells.
Friendly little town which is the starting point for main attraction in Guilin. The attrations are wonderful in scenery, like Li River, Yulong River, Chinese Wonderland or simply the countryside.
yangshou is the base to explore the countryside. you need a car to visit all the places. for sure 5 days was not enough.
It is really the town of Xing Ping that we found appealing & attractive. The long walk along the Li River there is an amazing experience, & one could spend days repeating the journey & still be captivated by the magnificent scenery.
We stayed here 2 nights, but really needed 3 or 4. Cycling or hiring an electric motorbike is a must.
Yangshuo has great outdoor attractions in the area. The great limestone landscape is something everyone should try to experience when in China.
Tracking tracking tracking We had a guide for 4 days and walked all over the place to see the local attractions and had the best time t
lots of things to do, lots of fun activities - river drifting highly reccommended, bamboo rafting ( 2 seater ) awesome.
Well worth the trip, just for the natural surroundings. Would love to go back at a time that wasn't a National Holiday so that there wouldn't be a million people.
I was a little disappointed by the shopping on West Street, but the cafes and bars looked really nice.
Must try the fish over here, is delious but the price is quite expensive, is depand which shop u are visit.
yangshuo is a beautiful city, but it has not been developed very well for tourism. city centre is dirty and smells bad, locals are not so friendly, they just want your money.
