  2. More about Yokohama

Yokohama is Japan’s second largest city and is centered around its port on Tokyo Bay, and many of its tourist attractions revolve around harbor life. Yokohama Marine Tower, the tallest land-based lighthouse, is one such attraction, as is the famed Hikawa Maru, an art deco passenger liner that served as a hospital ship during WWII. The Kannai neighborhood is the city's most historic, built on reclaimed land and featuring as many influences from the West as it does from Japan's Edo period.

Minato Mirai 21, Yokohama’s central business district, is comprised of the tallest skyscraper in Japan – the Landmark Tower – as well as shops and office blocks, plus some of the most convenient hotels. An express train that links to Tokyo makes this an especially handy position for travelers.

Visitors who want to immerse themselves in an unlikely aspect of Japanese culture can head to the Yokohama Stadium, just a short walk from Chinatown. The Japanese baseball league takes their championships very seriously, and games are wildly entertaining. Hotels in Chinatown are convenient both to Yokohama Stadium and to some of the country's best Chinese cuisine.
