The Stone Town could look some ugly in first time but give some days to explore it's deep and you will find the magic of town.
Anyone wants to experience the true Zanzibar character should stay in StoneTown at least 2 nights, otherwise you are just staying at a big resort, enjoying yourself, not knowing wether you're at Zanzibar or any other resort in Jamaica, Mexico, Thailand etc.
.. Visit StoneTown, taste the true local story, it is beautiful and worth visiting.
Amazing beaches, good diving & fishing. Interesting walking around Stone Town. Very friendly locals. Food is hit & miss.
Plenty of fresh seafood though. Head to the coast of Nungwi & park up on a beach for some sunshine & relaxation
Zanzibar has wonderful weather, friendly people and beaches and Stontown. I am not sure if beaches or Stonetown is the better.
But I recommend you to stay a minimum of three days at some place by the beach and maybe two days in Stonetown. It is beautful, fascinating and pleasant.
Loved Stonetown and the northern beaches, but especially liked the eastern beaches. Had a great lunch at Evergreen Resort at Pale and will stay there a few days next time.
...oh so relaxing and pretty. The beach goes forever. Ideally I would suggest 2 nights in stonetown, 1 on northern beaches and 4 on eastern beach. But if you like top end luxury, and lots of tourists, perhaps you will prefer the northern beaches. I prefer comfortable mid range accomodation, nature and less tourists
Stone town is great, Paje beach is good but quiet at nights, Nungwi good beach and sea but far away.
