It's Clock Inn o'clock”
The location is really good that pretty much everything is about 5 to 10 minutes away. Nestled in the heart of Colombo, in Colombo 3 area in Colpetty, Clock Inn is a mere one hour taxi ride from Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo Airport). Taxi is about 2,600 Rupees (or about USD17) for one - way. It is a 4 seater air conditioned car so imagine if there are four of you, you can share the bill. Taxis are readily available just outside of arrival hall. Check - in was fast. You will be asked to fill out a check - in form and they will hand in the key card which you will use to enter where the dorms are. You will then be given a locker key where inside the locker are the pillow, bed sheet as well as towel (yes, free) are kept. You can then use the locker for your valuables. Breakfast is good and it consists of toast with butter and jam (those individually packed and not the ones you shared with others.. nice touch!), two types of tropical fruits, two types of cereals with milk, your choice of eggs (sunny side up or omelette) and a juice. It was overall, good... People there are nice. The staff are nice and polite. The room was nice, adequate in size. The bed was ok. The AC was cold. Wifi is fast.
Friendly staff, clean rooms and bathrooms”
I stayed at the Clock Inn Colombo on Dec 2, 2015 for one night. The manager of the hotel picked me up from the airport - I can't remember his name. He was very nice and offered to stop for food if I wanted. My sister's flight got delayed and he was very helpful in trying to arrange her transfer. He also spent a great deal of time trying to find activities for me to do on my own, which wouldn't be overly expensive. He was awesome! The wifi was pretty good. My room and the shared bathrooms were kept very clean. The location seemed to be decent. I didn't spend much time in Colombo, as there wasn't too much to see. The breakfast included was pretty standard: juice, toast, bananas, and eggs/omelettes. Overall for the price, I would highly recommend the Clock Inn Colombo.
Good Budget Option in Colombo”
Clock Inn is a very good choice for a budget hotel in Colombo. It is in a GREAT location, near some of the best restaurants in Colombo and also a short ride to the museums and other sights. I had a room with en suite bath that was small but comfortable and clean. The view out the window was of another building and there was nothing fancy but the bath was clean and the bed comfortable and the wifi worked well. The breakfast was similar to what you get everywhere in Sri Lanka - eggs, toast, fruit and coffee or tea. The staff were very helpful and most had a good command of English. There were several really good restaurants nearby with my favorite, The Cricket Club, just two blocks away. This is not a fancy up-scale hotel but is a good budget option in Colombo.
Overall very good hotel - very good value for money !”
The Clock Inn hotel in Colombo was very good value for money. It is well located near Cinnamon Gardens, at 10 min away from the fort in tuk tuk (250 SLR). Lots of restaurants and shops near by. The staff was very nice and helpful. They sent us a tuk tuk to pick us up at the train station. The breakfast is basic but good. The room was very clean and the bathroom quite luxurious (real separate shower which is not often the case ins the country!) I would definitely stay again if I had to stay in Colombo !
Budget hotel in excellent location”
After going through several hotels online we chose Clock Inn for our short stay in Colombo. Location of this hotel is excellent. It’s very easy get transportation from here. Employees of this hotel are very friendly. We took suggestion for our day out plan in Colombo. Room was very basic. There was no wow factor in the room. However everything was so clean and well maintained. As this is a budget hotel we should not expect more. Despite being termed as budget hotel there room rate is not competitive with other budget hotel. The charge little bit high price in the budget hotel segment.
Conveniently located and amazing friendly staff!”
We checked out Clock Inn via Agoda and booked a double bedroom for the family for our 2 night stay during our trip from Australia. When we visited the hotel, we realised the double room was not sufficient for the small family but with no stress, Daniel at the reception was so helpful to organise an alternate family room at Clock Inn’s sister hotel, Ivy Lane approximately 200-300meters away. Both hotels were conveniently located, friendly staff all around and the family room we stayed at was amazing! The hotel is located walking distance from shops and restaurants. All around, it was a fantastic experience!
GOOD VALUE FOR MONEY”
The Clock Inn in Colombo is one of the friendliest places I have stayed in. The dorm beds are comfortable and clean, the breakfast is perfect and the staff very kind and respectful. The lounge/breakfast area is equipped with TV, two computers and books ... all in excellent condition. Perfect for relaxing, having a cup of tea and meeting all kinds of interesting people !
Good value for money in central Colombo”
We arrived at 2am in Colombo and needed a good value central accommodation. Clock Inn is great value for money and ideally located close to the main attractions in Colombo. Staff was very helpful and the rooms had everything we needed.
Clean and fantastic location”
Colombo is a big city and accommodation is expensive. At fifty bucks the Clock Inn was about the cheapest on Agoda. It turned out to be great value as the position was superb, the staff bent over backwards to help me with anything I needed and although quite small the room was clean and comfortable
Good for sleeping after a long flight”
Clock Inn is a good budget hotel for a short stay. We use it for sleepover after long flights as it is located beside Green Cabin best place to eat in Colombo. Opposite is Majestic Center further up the road Liberty Plaza all on Gaule Road. The Noritake showroom is bang opposite. Tuktuks are everywhere however if you are shopping best to walk Galle Road and the next parallel road Duplication Road now renamed R.A. De Mel Mawatha
The staff are courteous and helpful especially Mr. Tamil, and the manager which i give him a nickname, for easy remember " Mr. Mutton". I stay 3 nights and feel like at home. The breakfast is not that great but is ok. If next year i do visit Colombo again, definitely will stay back at Clock Inn.
clean, comfortable, good location”
i selected clock inn coz its near by one of the embassy i need to go, i arrived in the morning 425am, had email with the hotel to arranged the transfer to hotel, everything goes well and smoothy, room is clean and neat and the bed is comfortable, the lobby area is good for social and the owner Mr Hassan is trying to improve the things there! its a very nice staying, when you go down, its near the McDonald's, the Gallery cafe, go by a tuktuk explore! hotel staff is friendly and helpful, but they need to be trained more english speaking.
short stay at clock inn”
We stayed in Clock INN for our last night in Colombo. The location is quite good for some shopping and spending the last evening on Galle Face. Our room was very clean and we had a nice bathroom. Breakfast was continental and good.
Good / Clean / Well maintained place”
Clock Inn Colombo was a decent place to stay. The rooms were very small / & felt a little claustrophobic in them. The staff needs to be trained on giving some info to travelers like places to visit nearby / food joints etc. They did not have any such details. Rooms do not have Balcony - the only balcony is a common access balcony where the Compressors for AC is kept - hence no space whatsoever. Rooms were clean, but small. Bathrooms were also clean - but the shower enclosure was too small for a well built person. Also, found a cockroach in the bathroom - which makes me wonder if the maintenance is happening properly. Wardrobe door hinges were on the verge of breaking and we had to be very careful. Also, to reach the place from the Railway station, the tuk Tuk guy took Rs 600 - though it would have come upto max rs 200. The hotel should be providing such information upfront so that people are not taken for a ride. Overall, a good budget / backpackers stay - but have seen much better ones at cheaper rates & which are well organised.
More like a boutique hostel”
Stayed in a double room. It was clean and comfortable. Air-con working fine, wifi connection strong. Staff very helpfull. Breakfast should be improved but breakfasts are typically not of good value in Sri Lankan hotels and hostels. Location was good. Not in the centre but some 5km away from the Fort. There was a local bus stop just in front of Clock Inn and you are in the Fort area in about 15 minutes. Around the hotel there are many shops, bars and restaurants and the sea is just two block away. Very nice stay overall.
Excellent value in a good location”
Clock Inn had just opened not long before I stayed there, so everything was clean and new. My room had plenty of space to spread out, with lovely new furnishings, a very comfortable double bed, good hot shower, and strong wifi signal. It was nice and quiet, despite being right on busy Galle Rd. The staff were very friendly and keen to help. The kitchen was still under construction at the time of my stay, but I have no doubt it will be as clean, functional and pleasant as the rest of the hotel. This place is definitely on the right track.
Friendly staff well located”
The Clock Inn has good beds in small simple rooms, the only problem we found was that our room smelled of humidity and also slightly of mold. We found a hotel for slightly more money that was much better, so considering the similar price, one could say that this room at the Clock Inn was overpriced. The staff was very friendly however and our stay was not unpleasant. It is a good place to stay for a short layover, due to the good location and informed staff.
The Clock Inn is a funky little budget hotel/Hostel right on Galle Road. It is super clean. We stayed in a six bed dorm for three nights and were impressed by how clean the hostel considering how many people pass through its doors. Breakfast was ok. The manager was very nice and gave a few tips for Colombo airport. The staff were nice and helped out a few times. Overall a good stay.
Great value for price. Friendly and helpful staff. Good service included standard breakfast ”
While I stayed in more expensive hotels. That offer nothing except a an empty room, this inn is quite different. Near to shopping centres, restaurants and on the main road to tourist attractions, Clock inn also offers great service, you can have coffee or drink any time you wish or just rest in your quiet room
A Relaxing Stay”
This was my first time at Clock Inn and I was most impressed not only with the friendly staff but also the lovely lounge/breakfast area. The private room I had was not so large but clean and comfortable. I would definitely return here or the Clock Inn Dehiwala... both lovely places.
