we were a large group - 5 adults and 5 children ranging from 2 - 15 years old. despite the mixed group we all agreed that the village coconut island resort was the perfect choice for our 8 day stay. as the island is only accessible by boat, we all felt like we were getting away from the hustle and bustle of phuket - but only 5 minutes away. some of our group did a few day trips to patong for shopping and the transportation was easy. we also did trips to the elephants and a phi phi island trip which were also easy to do from coconut island. the villa was perfect for our group and very spacious. each room was ensuite and all rooms could comfortable sleep two people. three of the five rooms were enormous! one comment i will make about the villa we were given is that i found the pictures on the website to be rather misleading. the 5 bedroom villa pictured on the website was double fronted with a pool running along the front of the villa. these villas were up the other end of the beach and there appeared to be 3 of them. we were not given one of these. ours was 5 bedroom but the pool ran down the side of the pool. there was a very steep slope down from our garden to the beach so that if the children wanted to play on the beach they had to go down some steep steps and they couldn't be viewed from the garden. the villas featured on the website did not have this problem. the gardens were flat and there was no slope down to the beach. i would have thought that because we booked well in advance and for a period of 8 days, and because we had 5 children, the management would have given us one of the more suitable villas for this group. there were 3 exit doors from the villa to the pool so the small children had to be carefully watched at all times as the doors were easy to open. despite this, we had a wonderful time. the central pool area is fabulous. the two restaurants were high quality. breakfast was good and varied every day. restaurant staff were lovely.
