"The main reason I usually stay at the Grand Coloane has nothing to do with the Grand Coloane itself. It's nearby Fernandos restaurant that keeps me coming back. Seriously...amazing. That being said, I like the relaxation of the GC as opposed to the easy temptation of walking down to the casino in the middle of the night. The hotel has great free transportation to the Venetian on a pretty regular basis to get my gambling fix. As for the hotel, I was shocked at the sheer number of kids running around everywhere. Some idiots were letting their demon-spawn ride scooters through the lobby. Outside has a playground and of course the pool is teaming with families but the noise is far enough away to barely be noticed. The staff is absolutely exemplary....no question. Professional, courteous, very very well trained professionals. I will return despite (like every other hotel in Macau) the exorbitant price. "

"If you want impersonal, slick and expensive accommodation, any of the big casinos will suit your purposes. We wanted something a bit more authentic and with character. The Pousada de Coloane met our expectations in every respect. It is some distance from the centre of Macau and we used taxis back and forth. Not all of them knew where it was, so be prepared to do little navigating. We also used the hotel van for site-seeing - which was great. The hotel was being re-painted while we were there, which was not really a problem and the results were looking great. The staff are all very young but were friendly and keen to help. Rooms are quaint, well appointed and look out over the historic Coloane beach. We had a great time here and felt well-rewarded for our decision to go a little bit off the beaten track. "
