The proximity to Gothic quarter is unbeatable”
I liked staying at the Colon hotel very much, because the Gothic quarter is my favorite part of Barcelona. The rooms were quiet, something that is a real problem at the Colon's next door sister hotel (I don't remember the name, but it's got the word "Colon" in it, too). The room was also better decorated and cozier than the room I stayed in at the neighboring hotel.
Location, location, location...”
Colon is a charming small hotel, extremely well located. It is walking distance from the Picasso Museum, right in front of the Cathedral and close to excellent tapas restaurants. The rooms are decorated with beautiful colors, service was very efficient and breakfast was decent. It will be our choice when we go back to Barcelona!
Excellent city location, safe choice”
I selected this hotel so my elderly mother could have a cathedral view room, while I stayed in a single room. The location was excellent for my mother - a short walk to cafes for food, close enough for her to walk to the Ramblas, the market and get the feel of the Gotic quarter. Views from her hotel room over the ever-busy square and onto the cathedral kept her entertained whilst resting. The single room has no particular view - just over a narrow road onto another hotel but is fine. Double glazing kept all noise out of the rooms. Staff were friendly. Wifi internet worked in all rooms. Bed was comfortable. No kettles in the rooms. I can't comment on the restaurant as I dined out.
25 anniversary stay”
This was our second stay at this amazing hotel. We booked a room on floor 6 with a terrace for our 25 th wedding anniversary on the 13th feb until 16 th feb 2015. on arrival we were given room 609 which is a corner room on the side off the hotel with a very large terrace with potted plants ,trees and sun loungers and patio furniture , but the jewel in the crown was the amazing views of the cathedral and the sky line of barcelona . A big thank you to all the amazing staff for our special stay 5 star stay
The hotel was great, amazing location, center of Barcelona, literally across the street from the Barcelona cathedral. Shopping and dining were minutes away and the beach was a 15 minute walk. The staff were accommodating and helpful and spoke good English. The rooms were decent size with a big bathroom.
The location of the Hotel Colón is second to none: situated in the center of the Gothic quarter, the old town of Barcelona, it is within walking distance of almost everything you need to see in order to understand and fall in love with Barcelona (other sites like the magnificent Montjuic with its pleasant views, parks and excellent museums) can be reached easily by public transportation).
As always an excellent stay at the Colon”
we always stay at the Colon when in Barcelona. It is in a great location and is a good place to stay at a reasonable cost
Fantastic location in a great city”
We had a great time in Barcelona, with the hotel being literally on the doorstep to everything we needed. The hotel was cosy, quite recently redecorated in "old style", but I think we got the worst room in the hotel. We booked a standard room and hoped for an upgrade with a view to the cathedral, but instead we got a cramped room with backyard view and building noises from early morning to late afternoon. I think there was some problems with the aircon/heating system, because the room turned extremely hot in the middle of the night and quite cold in the morning. Having said that, the bathroom was nice and we did not spend a lot of time in the room.
Great location and surprisingly quiet!”
Our stay was superb! The first room they took us to was only sub-par. The bellman called the front desk, and lucky for us there was another room available that was better - updated/upgraded. The location is excellent - we would walk or ride the metro to do some sightseeing or shopping, and we could easily pop into the hotel to drop things off or take a little break in the middle of our outing! There was wonderful activity in the square - music and impromptu dancing - but it was always quiet in our room. The only downside... the internet was intermittent at best. Overall, a truly lovely stay!
Very good Hotel”
This hotel is very good for the following reasons: 1.Location: it couldn't be better. You are exactly across the Barcelona Cathedral in the Gothic Quarter. This means that all you have to do is to walk out of the hotel to be in the middle of one of the 3 tourist destinations in the whole city. 2, Rooms: We had a very spacious room with a large king size bed. Very comfortable in every sense. The bathroom was also very adequate and large. There is a flat screen in the room with an ample selection of TV channels. Internet wi-fi is available free of charge throughout the hotel including the rooms. 3. Service: Very courteous and efficient reception desk. It cannot be faulted.
Fantastic -- will go there again if we get back to Barcelona.
i came back this hotel after 20 years”
i came back to this hotel after 20 years from my first trip abroad. the rooms is a little old comparing with other design hotels, but it has the tradition. and in front of cathedral is very cozy so i was happy to back there again. it seems to be restored so that there's no problem of water or heater. but wifi is a little slow then if you go for the business, i don7t recommend to stay there.
Pleasant stay in a well located hotel”
It was a good stay, the location was perfect, right next to the cathedral, great restaurants and public transportation. The only down site was the size of the room... Very small, but I guess in Barcelona most rooms are as small.
What a wonderful hotel with a breathtaking view from the relaxed spa and pool on the rooftop. Upon check in (we arrived a bit early) staff upgraded us because our room wasn't ready. After check out we were allowed to use the spa and hotel facilities. Great, great hotel, we will be coming again.
very nice hotel, location and t”
i stayed only one night.but i liked it very much. the location is very nice.its easy to access to the main sightseeing places in the city. also ,the stuff are very friendly , helpful and nice. the room was clean.and quiet.so i could sleep well. enough place to put your stuff.and open your suitcase on the floor.there were towles, amenities for bath.and bathrobe so i did not have a problem.
Location Lacation Location and this one did it.”
Sebastian the front desk agent very professional and friendly gave me a lot of tips that turned out to be extremely helpful. The day shift bartenders fantastic. The out door cafe in front of the hotel facing the Cathederal .Priceless.
Very nice but dated and expensive ”
Breakfast for two was nice but I almost gagged on my toast. 37 euros for two people. We were promised a cathedral view but although nice the view was completely blocked by a tree. Probably wouldn't stay there again. Not wonderful for price
Bad, Worst, Lousiest Hotel I ever stay in my life ”
One word : Bad !!! Receptionist Super Rude, Bad Manner, Not helpful Very very very bad experience. I used Agoda for years. Staying more than 30 good hotels just for the past one year. But never encounter such a bad rude Receptionist in my life. I just pray the General Manager of The Colon Hotel Barcelona will read my honest review about his staff. I checked in on 21st March 2015 for a one night stay. We arrive at the hotel at 11pm. We just arrive from Madrid. After all we gonna stay for few hours only. Once I check in I inform the front desk guy he is an old man and he claimed to be the Duty Manager at that time. I requested for an extra bed because one of my friend are following us to watch the El-Clasico match on the next day. The rude front desk guy straight away turn his face and say NO. And continue say NO NO NO. He says "You book for a 2 persons room and you get 2 persons room !!!" Of course I knew it. In fact I try to add additional one person a week before through Agoda "Special Request" button in my confirmation email but the function failed and I can't perform the request. I try to explain to Feran but without listening to me he interrupted and raise his voice and says "we have got telephone number and you can call us 24 hours !!!". He is super rude. In my mind I only know hotel staff is always there to help us to solve our problem. If he don't have extra bed then at least help us to find another hotel. But he didn't . He is not there to help at all. I felt the way he talk like he's a complete to Asian. Then I request to see his superior and he turn me down. Now he says he is the receptionist only and his manager only comes to work the next morning. With no help from them we walk out to find another hotel nearby. The staff says no rooms and U know what??? Without my request he offer to help me to find another hotel. He make phone call, browse website n found us Hotel nearby.
very good hotel on a great location”
We were upgraded to a superior room (suite). The hotel is well kept, has a nice restaurant and a very nice terrace with views of the cathedral.
