Good hotel in a good location along Sukhumvit”
all in all i enjoyed my stay in column bangkok. the front desk are friendly. i stayed in the cheapest accommodation in column bangkok but let me tell you something, though it's a studio apartment, the room was huge! it came with a proper working table, a well-equipped kitchenette with a tall refrigerator, hot stove and microwave open. i find it weird though that no cooking items were provided like a wok even though there's a hot stove. there's a small balcony in the room but unfortunately the sliding doors were locked. the room came with a proper sofa set with a 32" lcd tv. there's ample wardrobe space and the bathroom is sufficiently big with standing shower. the room came with 2 pillows, 2 soft and 2 firm. free wi-fi is provided in the apartment though the signal can be weak at times. 2 bottles of drinking water is replenished daily. there's a washer and dryer in the bathroom and i made sure i fully utilised them. the hotel has a fully-equipped gym, a massage area and the buffet breakfast is served, all on the 23rd floor at the famous long table restaurant. the swimming pool on the same floor. i had dinner on my first night at the long table restaurant. the food is good but very pricey. the outdoor section of the restaurant also has a great view of the city especially at night. overall, i am satisfied with the room. it is comfortable and cosy enough for me. the staff is friendly and accommodating and the lobby area of the hotel looks nice and clean. the hotel is in soi 19 of the sukhumvit area. terminal 21, a mall opened in october 2012 and asok bts station about 8-10 min walk from the hotel. there's a 24-hour foodland supermarket just next door. there's also a 24-hour restaurant and pharmacy within the supermarket itself. sukhumvit area is a great place to stay. it's famous for its restaurants and clubs. overall, column bangkok is a great place to stay while in bangkok but i have to admit, even the cheapest room is quite pricey.
Best hotel in Bangkok under $200!”
i travel to bkk frequently and like to try out different hotels. but those days are over, now that i've found the column. it has everything you could possibly want in a bkk hotel--2 mins to the bts, clean modern rooms, beautiful pool, and amazing views from the balcony! on top of that, it's close enough to all the shopping and nightlife of sukhumvit, but located down a nice, quiet soi where i felt safe walking after dark with my two small children. and did i mention it even has a 24-hour grocery store right next door? our one-bedroom suite also had a full kitchen and a washer and dryer--very nice when traveling with kids. the bed was wonderful too, with a choice of pillows. the room itself was huge--bigger than my first apartment! i love the staff at the column, as well. upon check in, my friend asked if she could have a room near to ours (she had booked a smaller room). the front desk immediately upgraded her to the 1-bedroom suite right next to ours at no charge! all of the staff were consistently helpful and polite. also, the column is very close to the new terminal 21 shopping center, which has a great food court and tons of restaurants (not to mention shopping). plus, there's a giant park nearby with a lake, playground, and paddle boats. in fact, the only "issue" i can think of is that my friend complained there was no wi-fi, although since i'm pretty much no-fi, it wasn't an issue for me at all. all in all, the column is by far my favorite hotel in bkk for under $200 a night.
Great hotel in a perfect location”
The Column Bangkok is a great option for a hotel in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok. The hotel's location was perfect. It was about a 5-minute walk from the hotel to the ASOK BTS stop, and from there, you can travel easily throughout Bangkok. The ASOK station is also located next to the Terminal 21 shopping center, where it was easy to change money, shop, and have a bite to eat. As for the hotel, my room was spacious and well-appointed, with a comfortable bed, kitchenette, and laundry machines. The staff at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The Long Table restaurant in the hotel served a very nice breakfast every day, and it featured a nice rooftop lounge with a beautiful view of the city to have a relaxing drink in the evening. I greatly enjoyed my stay, and I will definitely return.
3 nights in Bangkok”
The Column Bangkok is a great place to stay is you like space. Our 2 bedroom aparment was great, it had 2 seperate bathrooms, 2 super large bedrooms, open plan living room come kitchen. It also had a washing machine and seperate tumble dryer. Our apartment was spotless. Check in was quick and the reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast is served in The Long Table restaurant on the 25th floor, this restaurant was voted in the top 10 restaurants in Bangkok and being a chef myself the food was fresh and cooked with a passion. The breakfast is a selection of a cold buffet and you order your hot breakfast off a menu with a choice of 10 dishes. My chidren enjoyed this. The Column is only a 5 minute walk from the Asoke skytrain station which is great to travel to all the attractions and shops in Bangkok. The Column is in area called Sol 16 which is very safe to walk at night and people in this area are so friendly. When i return to Bangkok i will be staying at the Column because it is a great postion, large apartments and greatvalue for money.
Strange soi location - but thumbs up!”
Column is one of my current Sukhumvit favorites - I will definitely be back, after several stays. It's located just off Asok a hundred or so meters from Sukhumvit, so in a great location - taxis know the soi, if not the hotel. Rooms are very generous (I've always stayed in suites - perhaps it's all suites), and price is usually very reasonable for what you get - fully outfitted rooms, great for longer stay. Staff are accommodating and helpful - not to mention even more charming than your average Bangkok hotel staff. Well regarded Long Table restaurant onsite. When you tire of going out, or just want more snack or supply options or whatever, there's a convenient Foodland next store. I keep coming back!
I extended my stay twice, I enjoyed it so much”
The check-in was easy, even though they could not find my booking right away, they made it easy and avoided confusion. The staff are empowered to help as necessary- as I walked through the lobby with arms full of shopping, the concierge ran ahead to get the elevator for me without being asked. Tapas style late night menu and meals are very good, and reasonably priced. Cocktails are excellent, although the wine selection needs reviewing (generally a problem in Bangkok), and the Long Table is a very nice "chill" venue!. I would not stay at this hotel for the breakfast, however, I made plans for breakfast outside. If you want a good combination east/west style breakfast buffet, there's some other 5 stars nearby. The gym seems like an afterthought and its a bit smelly. No sauna is disappointing, but looking at the gym, I'd prefer not. The room was just lovely.... Quality fixtures, a nice and spacious layout. This, and the Asok location made it easy to stay in Bangkok. I'll be coming back, and if I get a job in Bangkok, The Column will be my first home! (A sauna would really be nice though...)
Great value for money, loved our stay there”
originally wanted to stay at a different hotel where our friends were, but since the latter was fully booked, column was our second choice. we did not regret our choice as after we visited our friends in their award winning hotel, we realised ours was a much better choice. value for money, attitude of the staff. our hotel was more relaxed, welcming and less of a snobby atmosphere, but still looked classy and elegant. the choice of breakfast was limited but nonetheless delicious. we loved the long table restaurant. had dinner there, great cocktails, great food, attentive staff, a bit pricey but worth it. very nice view. i was a bit concerned after reading some reviews that said the swimming pool does not get any sun, but that is not true. the swimming pool gets a lot of sun after 12. i loved that the swimming pool had a view over bangkok. also, reviews said the swimming pool is in the middle of the restaurant and had nowhere to sit. they did have a sitting area and the swimming pool is separate from the restaurant. it is only on the same floor as the restaurant, but i liked it. the room we stayed in was massive. it was so big that it made our large flat screen tv look tiny. i love that so many facilities were available, e.g. washing machine, detergent, dryer, microwave, stove, iron etc... the bed was nice and comfy. i loved the little lounge area in the room for when our friends came to visit and we could all sit down and catch up with a drink. room service was limited. the food portion was small but tasty. best to go eat in bangkok. more value, more range and more taste. the bathroom was huge too with a big bathtub. so relaxing. the staff was not particularly friendly but very professional. there is a very impressive mall called terminal 21 about 5-10. minutes walk away. definitely go there, so much food and so many things to see. this is the best mall i have ever seen in my life.
Highly functional, recommended for specific needs”
This hotel was absolutely perfect for our needs. Rooms are like an apartment, and ours was ridiculously spacious with both kitchen, washer/dryer, and a 29th floor, floor-to-ceiling view looking west across the cityscape. Stunning. The location is a short walk to both the Skytrain AND the Subway, which makes it absolutely primo for transportation. Both stops are located next to the Terminal 21 mall, which is one of the better ones in Bangkok, and many other good malls are nearby as well. The buffet breakfast was good but uninspired, so in this case we recommend taking advantage of the 24-hour Foodland grocery store w/ food service that is adjacent to the hotel. There's also any number of fantastic choices for restaurants in the neighborhood as well. The rooms are clean, the bathroom was spacious and the shower worked extremely well, and the king size bed was very comfortable. Front desk service is polite and perfunctory, although not the most helpful we have encountered. Sourcing great food, metro and taxi transportation, shopping, and everything else we needed was immediate from this location, so Column Bangkok will be our first choice when we return.
Great location, big rooms with Washer & Dryer”
The Column is an excellent choice for a hotel on Sukhumvit road. The location is better than other hotels because it is next to a Western supermarket and around the corner from the Asok BTS skytrain station and the Sukhumvit MRT subway station. You can do laundry at your leisure in your room with the quiet washer & dryer unit. The fitness room had lots of equipment, but it was in a small room and there were just a few free hand weights. The Long Table restaurant has great views but is a bit expensive. The only bad thing was that they put us in a room directly above the club (room #2613 or #2612) which made it difficult to sleep on a Saturday night. We've stayed here before at another room and couldn't hear anything, the rooms are very soundproof except when above the club. They should be mindful of this when reserving your room. The price of a room is higher than other similar hotels, so be sure to book with Agoda to get a good price
Beautiful views and great value”
First, a word about me. Given the plethora of good budget options in Bangkok I have a hard time convincing myself to stay anywhere but hotels that are less than half the cost of Column. So it was a splurge for me to stay at Column and took great inner debate before choosing it. But I am very glad I did and you should stay there, too. The main reason to stay at Column is for the views. The studio came with a balcony that had mesmerizing views of Bangkok. Ask for a room on the same side as the bar in order to see some of the most stunning sunsets you'll witness. The rooms themselves are decent and modern but, like so much new construction in BKK, used good looking but shabby materials. Hence despite being a new hotel the rooms are already showing obvious signs of wear. The downside to Column is that the beds could have been more comfortable. They are definitely among the better Asian beds. Westerners hoping to score beds similar to those at home may not find Column's quite up to snuff. I have a bad back though, so I may be grading more harshly than you probably would. The staff is efficient but not quite as friendly as you'd expect in a upper end hotel. Also can be a little hard to get a cab at times. Other than that, all plusses. Fridge is great and there's a 24 hr foodland right downstairs. I'm fond of the rooftop bars at Banyon Tree and LeBua, but after seeing the view at Column I was happy to stay in and enjoy some Changs from the comfort of my room. The bathrooms are large and include a shower with two heads as well as a bathtub. I had some trouble with the washing machine though and the bathroom somewhat flooded since I had trouble closing the unit. So be careful with that. Great location near the Asoke BTS and a short walk to Terminal 21 and all its culinary delights. Breakfast was good enough as well and I thought worth the modest upcharge. Strong WiFi in room. Overall, heartily recommended.
Great location, great value for money”
Location-wise, this serviced apartment is perfect as it's walking distance to Terminal 21 and Asok BTS (skytrain) right at the heart of Sukhumvit). It's also near Thong Lor if you want to experience the nightlife. The apartment is beside a supermarket and restaurant which is open 24 hours so it is again very convenient. We got the 2-bedroom suite and the living space is huge and the whole unit is equipped with everything you need. The cons we experienced were the noisy, old aircon (which dripped water in one of the bedrooms) and non-blackout curtains in the masters' bedroom. Breakfast is also served and is passable. Overall, great location and very convenient. The staff is also efficient although not as warm as the typical Thai 5-star hotel staff. I don't mind staying at Column Bangkok again but it works best if you are with a big group or family.
I have stayed in Bangkok many times and have tried many different hotels. I look for value, cleanliness, service and location. I was very happy with my stay at the Column. I read the reviews and wondered if this was a good choice. It was!! I will stay here again. It is close to the BTS and all of the shopping areas in Bangkok. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was disappointing on the first morning but the next two morning it was very good. I tried the Long Table and even though the food was very good, I think it is to pricey for the star quality of the hotel. There is a resturant next door at Foodland that has great food at a fraction of the price. I had no problem adjusting the air condictioning and still getting hot water. By far one of the best value hotels in Bangkok.
My favorite Bangkok hotel”
This was my third stay at the Column Bangkok hotel. I always enjoy the fantastic breakfast buffet at this hotel served on the weekends. The staff is always friendly and the rooms are very nice for the price. The best feature for business travelers is the washer and dryer located in each room. The place is furnished like a nice condomenium with all the amenities. I would stay here just for the ability to do laundry, but, the hotel offers much more. There is also a grocery store, pharmacy, resturant and ATM in the building ajoining the parking lot. The Bangkok night life is just a short 5-10 minute walk away. I highly recommend this hotel.
Big pleasing rooms and great location.”
Always enjoy staying at Column. Location is excellent. Staff friendly. Foodland next door. Long table for meals. Walking distance to everything. Big rooms, timber floors, simple and pleasing decor. Laundry inside room. If you are looking for a hotel with a great Sukhumvit location, friendly staff, great facilities and very reasonable price with everything you want then check into the Column using Agoda's great deals.
good hotel and good location”
The suite is very modern and in immaculate condition. The views across Bangkok are beautiful. The room contained all the amenities I needed. The room is just as good, in fact better, than it looks in the photos. The standard is very high. The Column Residence is located in the heart of Bangkok, Sukhumvit area, just 5 min walk from the Asok train station. Appartments are relatively spacious, clean, comfortable and well equipped.
Beautiful Property But Service Needs Improvement”
I continue to stay here at the Columns Bangkok. The rooms, building, hallways and city views are beautiful and very easy to live in. The location is next to a 24 hours supermarket and a few minutes walk to the Asok MRT and BTS train systems. The walk to the MRT/BTS is through a beautiful building with Starbucks and all major banking centers in the building. Housekeeping needs a basic checklist (like other hotels in Thailand). Everyday during this stay something was not done properly or missing in the room. In the morning while sleeping, housekeeping chatted and gossiped loudly in the hallway or rooms they where cleaning - completely mindless of the comfort of sleeping guests. Management is not responsive to emails or requests for meetings. Many emails to management were never answered. In a nutshell, this is a very nice property but needs a lot of improvement in service quality to guests. In all fairness, many service apartments in Bangkok suffer from the same quality-of-service problems - beautiful new building, poor service and housekeeping. The front desk staff are nice, but the property is much larger than the front desk of course. Having said all of this, I continue to stay here and the Column Bangkok is currently my favorite Bangkok services apartment.
Excellent location & has all the features”
Externally, the Column looks like an average building - maybe it used to be an office building that has been converted to a hotel. Despite this, it was a great stay and I would recommend it to anyone. It is in close proximity to the Asok overhead train line and also the underground Sukhumvit line. This provide access to a lo of the main areas to go to in Bangkok. The restaurant called Long Room was classy and excellent, with plenty of cocktails and a good combination of local thai food and western food. The room that i had (Studio Executive) was very large, extremely comfortable beds and even had a washing machine and dryer which was handy given I had traveled to quite a few places prior. I highly recommend this hotel for any purpose.
Top class hotel”
We spent 3 days at the Column and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and dealt with our check in very efficiently. They even upgraded us to a suite which was on the 40th floor with magnificent views over the city. The suite consisted of a bedroom, living/dining/kitchen area and a laundry with a washer and dryer. We wanted to cook our own meal on one night and the staff kindly sent up all the cooking equipment we needed which was great. Breakfast is served in the 25th floor in the Long table restaurant and was really tasty - a full spread - eggs made to order, fresh fruit, pastries, Thai food and toast and condiments. The is also a small infinity pool outside the restaurant with magnificent views. The Column is conveniently located within moments from Sukumvit station and close to many shops. There is also a 24hour grocery store right next door with a few ATMs as well. We would love to stay at The Column again if we ever find ourselves in Bangkok!
Column Bangkok ~ Worth the money”
I stayed at 2 bedrooms suite for 3 nights (with 2 night free discount). love its location - just about 5 min walk to BTS station and MRT station. The rooms are big and tidy, with very nice view from both the living room and bedrooms. View from the small balcony is excellent too. Love the kitchen setting, the only disadvantage is there's no cooking tools provided. the suite bathroom is excellent too, love especially the bathtub which you can enjoy the busy bangkok city view while you've having bath. Wifi is free, but shared connection so it is very slow. Love also the infinity swimming pool (but there's no swimming guard there). The breakfast is surprisingly good, set menu with lots of choices, American style, Thai style, Japanese style etc, with also the fruits/bread/salad buffet bar. Staff are very helpful too. Column Bangkok definitely worths the money. I'd love to stay there again next time.
This is my second time to stay at the Column. I had a regular room the first time and a suite the second time. Both rooms were great. I like the wood flooring and the floor to ceiling windows. The bathrooms are large enough and the showers work great. No problem with hot water ever. The rooms were very clean and the service was great. I had a meal at the Long Table and the food was very good, however the coffee was very pricey. The breakfast changes a little every morning with some mornings better than others but always satisfying. I have stayed at many hotels in Bangkok and have enjoyed certain ones more than others but the Column is now one of my favorites. I will stay here again and probably most times that I am in Bangkok.
