We are frequent Hanoi Travellers - and thereby test different areas - this time, we were really pleased. Location: Within walking distance (10 - 15 min) to the old quarter (busy and overcrowded), the hotel is located between the tourist area and the French quarter - and combines the benefits of both. Many nice cafés and restaurants nearby, the lake within less than 10 min ….. and still, already rather quiet. I would consider this as the perfect location for a vacation with family. Hotel: The hotel has some signs of aging but is well maintained. Nice breakfast. If we ignore our tendency to explore new areas and hotels, this was the first hotel in Hanoi, which we would consider to revisit. We were very satisfied.
Hotel location is very good but room amenities very very old”
I stayed in conifer for 5 days as a solo traveler. The hotel location is really very good, walk in to Opera House. Not too far from Hoan kiem lake. The hotel amenities are really very old, for first two days my room AC didn’t work at all, it was really a nightmare , thank filly I had booked Deluxe room with balcony. Which is why there was a bit relief and I could have at least fresh air to breathe in night. Later after 2 days hotel technician was able to fix the air con. Also one fine night at 2AM the air dryer turned ON automatically . I felt like haunted exp. as it keep turning off and on without my intervention, when I report this to reception they asked me to wait till morning. Breakfast was very good, Starbucks is just opposite to hotel. If amenities is not a concern for anyone then go ahead, otherwise in such room tariff one can get a very modern and 4 star hotel in Hanoi.
Very kind staff. The room smelled of smoke constantly from outside smokers. The door to the balcony didnt fully close. Balcony furniture incredibly uncomfortable. Two people came into my room while i was sleeping, once without knocking.
Really nice room I had the deluxe room with bath and balcony ”
Staff very helpful & friendly Cafe on site nice fresh juices and Vietnamese soups but the sandwiches were not good very small with little filling Bar closes too early which is a shame as there’s a nice seating area out the front. Starbucks across the road and a bakery walking distance of opera house, old quarter & main shopping area with all designer shops
Great Location, great breakfast”
This hotel has a great location very near to many tourist destination places, to many decent cafes and restaurants and to high profile stores like Prada, Omega etc. Starbucks is right in-front of the hotel. Breakfast is great, cannot forget the very yummy creamy and cheesy pasta. We only got a problem with the lady receptionist the night we came, had a long discussion with her before we were able to finally checked-in, we came in very late around 9pm but we didn't receive enough consideration from them regarding the room we booked unlike with other hotels, although I must say that the male staffs are all nice, helped us for a taxi going to another hotel in Hanoi in the following day. The facility is overall nice except that there's no sprinkler in the bathroom, not convenient at all. The room is small I think for its price.
Nice upgrade as it was my first time to stay. However I needed to borrow an iron and without noticing there was a sharp edge which ruined my shirt when I ironed it. I complained to the reception, but all the guy said was sorry. Disappointing reaction from such a small and nice hotel.
Fantastic location right in the heart of Hanoi. Walking distance to a number of shopping options from markets through to big brand stores. The decor is a little dated, and rooms are limited with space, but you have everything you need. Service is fantastic and always willing to help.
Nice place, great location.”
Excellent location and friendly helpful staff. The first night we stayed in a deluxe room with balcony. The room itself and particularly the bathroom are very small but functional. Second night we upgraded to a suite which was more roomy. A handy option.
In the heart of Hanoi yet quiet location ”
Conifer Hotel is a boutique luxury hotel category. Located in the heart of tourist area of Hanoi. The area is quiet yet your at the City Center. Opera House, Lake, Post Office is within 5-10 minutes walk. There are plenty of proper restaurants. The staff at the reception, F&B and sales team will do their best to accommodate any reasonable request. In fact the two receptionist Mr. Hum & Mr. Nam has provided a great service that encouraged us to stay at the hotel. The F&B staff are good too and food is pretty good meal. The surrounding area is high end for Vietnam style both the hotel and as well as neighbourhood.
Great location near the opera. Nice hotel with very helpful staff and good breakfast. Rooms were comfortable
Didn't honour my reservation - didn't mind keeping the deposit, though”
Ripped off by the hotel. Under extreme threats they allowed me to stay in a development site with no shower or toilet. And then stiffed me $30 on the agreed total. Everything about the completed rooms was apparently satisfactory according to the people whose reservations were honoured, but it's hard to recommend a hotel after being so ripped off. And it's not cheap.
Rooms are smaller than advertised”
We booked Deluxe room with balcony thinking it'd be 35 square meters (sqm) as advertised but upon check-in, we were told by the staff that it was only 22 sqm - fine for a couple or a solo traveler but definitely super small if you have kids. The location is very central which we appreciated but if you are a slight sleeper, you might hear some traffic noise on the lower levels. The cleaning staff were chatting up a storm every morning around 8-9ish in the morning which is something to keep in mind. The rest of the staff were nice and helpful.
Clean and comfortable room, great location ”
Room was a bit worn but very clean and functional. Bed was comfortable, basic amenities including toiletries and mineral water was available. The TV had international channels . As I arrived late, I didn’t realise until the next morning that the hotel was very well located with many international premium shopping boutiques nearby. Great stay and I’ll definitely come back,
Good location for work and tourism ”
Rooms are a bit small and there are some fit out choices that are kind of surprising (e.g. bath/shower set so high it's hard to climb into and then the ceiling is too close for comfort). But I'm a repeat guest because the staff are great, the location is convenient for both work and tourism and the quality/cost works out in my favour.
A Great Place in a Noisy City”
On our third visit to Hanoi and having stayed in 5-star hotels prior, I found a gem in this hotel. Located in the former French Quarter, it is in a rather quiet street (Vietnamese love blowing their car and motorbike horns) and very conveniently located within a short distance to the old quarter. The staff personnel, from the bell captain to the maids, were excellent, professional, and very responsive to one's needs. Although my room was rather small, it was very nicely appointed with a great balcony to sit and view the on-goings outside. Breakfast was adequate and although we did not eat at the hotel any other time, we did view some wonderfully prepared dishes. My wife, a Thai, stated that the massage was excellent and very professional. We booked the hotel car for our return to the airport and wished that we had booked it for our arrival also. Excellent service for about 9.00 USD more but well worth it. In sum, we had another memorable Hanoi visit and staying at this wonderful hotel made it even more so. True Vietnamese hospitality in a wonderful setting.
Great Boutique Hotel, Convenient Location”
Right around the corner from the Opera house, this small boutique hotel offers perfect value for money. Rooms are reasonably sized - make sure you get one with a balcony. They are well-maintained and clean, and have not really aged since I stayed here first a few years ago. Just shows management takes care of their establishment. Staff is very helpful and friendly and makes one feel welcome. Breakfast has improved over the years (it used to be this hotel's biggest downside). It's still nothing to rave about, the single choice of processed ham and cheese remains sub par. Be aware that the horrible mayonnaise is sweet like a dissolved candy cane. Freshly cooked scrambled eggs are absolutely delicious though. I recommend this place to anyone going to Hanoi.
excellent staff, excellent location, rooms a bit small”
I would reccomend the staff (front desk staff) who were all very diligent, very professional and active. A little story which happened to me : I went to the market (north of the lake) by taxi, it costed 24.000 dong (around 1,5 dollars) when i came back, from the market i took a taxi but i didnt feel confortable, the box of the counter/taximeter was partially hidden. And i notices that the rate increased very fast... at the hotel the total was 107.000 dong. I asked the hotel to help me and they immediately came and barked at the driver who was definately a taxi/stealer... I paid 50.000 (The reception told me to pay only 40.000 but I didn t have change and didnt want to spend time on that) Anyway they helped.... Be aware of fake taxi !...
nice boutique hotel”
The staffs were very attentive and helpful. We booked a tatami room, which was on the top floor with very nice view. But I will not suggest anyone taller than 180cm choose this room, for the ceiling is too low for the tall. The location is wonderful, nearing everything, but in a quiet alley. I think we will come back again.
A Good Hotel”
A nice hotel to stay at if visiting Hanoi. For me it's a good go-to-hotel for when I know I will want a balcony (say, during Summer). It can be rare to find rooms in Hanoi that have a decent balcony. Staff are nice and accommodating. Location is good especially if you like your top-end shops, plus is close to good beer gardens.
Good budget choice”
This is the second time I have stayed at the Conifer, it is just about 4 star but really a mid-range to budget choice, but what lacks in luxury is made up for by the wonderful staff, who will do anything to help you. The Manager especially is very solicitous and will make sure that you are happy with your stay. I stayed in the cheapest room this time (the 'tatami' room on the top floor - though there is no tatami, just a wooden floor, and the bed mattress is on the floor). The room was OK with a small bathroom, but I kept waking up very early due to sunlight leaking into the room via the bathroom window. I mentioned it to the manager and by the second day they had taped a screen over the window for me which really helped. On the down side, the wifi did not stretch well to this room (no router on the 11th floor) so I had to work in the restaurant, also the breakfast is not great - best to go for the pho or have the baguettes with some eggs. All in all though, if you want a more peaceful location than the old town and you are looking for a good mid-range choice I can recommend the Conifer.
