nice and clean”
I was forced into an overnight stay somewhere near Gold Coast airport due to a delayed flight arrival. This hotel was only 2km and a $10 taxi fare from the airport. I was able to check in at approx 10pm and I was given a 4 bed dprm to myself. The room had Air Con, balcony and a lockable (take your own padlock) cupboard. The room was clean as were the toilets and showers. Both the night and day receptionists were very helpful and I was able to leave my bags, locked up, for a couple of hours after check out.
Good loation in Coolangatta”
The room is big and clean. It has balony outside the room so you can lie down there to enjoy the sunshine or reading. It is in Coolangatta central, and the local bus stop is just 5mins walk. The buses toward Gold Coast Airport and Surfers' Paradise. It is quite convineince. The only disadvantage is too far from Surfers' Paradise. It's nearly 70-80mins if you take the bus.
Warm, cozy, lovely!”
the staffs were very friendly, there's a kitchen to share and bathroom to share but i got no problem with that at all. water heater, bread for breakfast were provided every morning in the kitchen. The hostel located near to restaurants and Coolangatta beach, walk further you can reach Snapper rocks. Love the tranquility and the service. Worth a stay!
Coolangatta itself is not a over crowded beach so you can really enjoy the view and rest on the beach without any unnecessary interruption. This hostel is just 3 minutes walk to the beach and there are quite alots of nice cafe around. Local people there are very friendly. Hostel is clean. One thing I really like this hostel is their balcony. You can actually cook you dinner and enjoy it at an open air dining area. However, this hostel does not have lift thus do not bring too many luggage bag. ;)
Very helpful in stressful times”
arrived during cyclone oswald and the sands hostel had suffered damage from the high winds and rain and the place was consequently flooding. staff were very helpful in finding us another place to stay and promised to refund our money as soon as power was back on.
Good Enough for a Transit or Short Stay”
We stayed for a night because it was so near the Gold Coast airport, since we had a morning flight to catch. On a bus (Surfside 761), it was merely 8 minutes to the airport in the wee morning with no traffic. There are alot of cheap shops and food places to visit, as the location is merely packed with it. And you can start your day strolling at Queen Elizabeth Park, or walk your way down as you soak the sun and breeze towards Point Danger! Pretty awesome sight and the weather was amazing (to us, of course) during the time we stayed there (October 2012). The bed was a little hard and uncomfortable, and the sheets were too thin so we slept in cold, but other than that, the room has been maintained well and clean. Even the shared toilets and somking lounges were neat and clean at all times. This is a good place for backpackers as they provide a great variety of activities, deals and even charitable/volunteer opportunities for their patrons. The Currumbin Widlife Santuary (along with their Yanguwah dinner) is just a few stops away and it is definitely a must-try.
Friendly, good value overnight near the Airport”
Nice overnight near Coolangatta Airport. Right on the beach and close to venues/entertainment. Staff were friendly and the bar downstairs stay open until at the weekend.
Close to the beach, around the corner to main Coolangatta amenities & eating places, right next to bus stop to airport BUT disappointing AC was dysfunctional
lovely hotel and service”
near the coolangatta beach free breakfast but not enough of milk and bread free pick up and drop off to airport very near airport, abt 5mins drive no wifi bus nearby to city, but cost so much at least AUD 15 per day for transportation. quite dirty kitchen
Location is the best”
this hostel is located by gold coast airport. So we can get there by bus from the airport. The nearby the bus stop and the beach. Sanitation is not good, I think. But bed is clean. Anyway, nice location.
This hostel was centrally located, with many food joints nearby, and even a supermarket just 1 bock away. Facilities include a games room and a bar. The kitchen was big and quite clean. The guest rooms were quite new and clean also. The bus stop for surfside buses are within 2mins walk. There is a free shuttle service to the airport during office hours and after hours, the public bus can take you there. The hostel was also within 5mins to the beach, which have got a good view of Brisbane skyline.
clean, big room i really liked it”
good lovely clean staffs very kind . easy to get coolangatta beach. it was very closed to the beach.
Room was a bit small for 6 people, but overall the hotel is very clean and nice place to stay. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
Clean place to stay and good location but noisy”
I stayed at the hostel for 1 night only, this was my first time staying at a hostel so I was a little apprehensive. I stayed in a female shared dorm and there was 1 other lady staying in the room. Overall I was surprised to see that the rooms were clean and the bathroom was also quite clean. Other reviewers have noted that it is quite noisy with traffic outside and from the bar downstairs and this is true, but as I was pretty tired I was able to sleep through most of it. Overall for a one night stay this place was fine. I was told that there was a free breakfast but I didn't eat there.
The room, location, view is just too good... please do book one bedroom ocean view and you will never regret it.. one of the best room ive stayed before!!
Ok If you are only looking for a bed ”
We stayed a Friday night. Linen clean. Room old and basic. Bed comfy. Walls are thin therefore room is quite noisy. (Noise from pub patrons and & guests walking the corridors in accomodation). Weekday stay probably better as less people in pub. . Central location. No parking included. Shared facilities basic & clean. We paid $67 a double - which is cheap. You get what you pay for. Ear plugs a good idea.
Great Place to stay with Friendly Staff”
Good. I would recommend the stay to another friend as well. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Easy check in and out and the rooms were well kept.
Away from. The schoolies area of the gold coast”
Nice location grocery store near by as well as an OK shopping center. Kitchen supplies good even toster oven so can make pizza. Few to many long term guest though making this like there home so storage and frigrator space not so good, also can't bring in your own booze..
The rooms are above the hotel, which has a large Bar/Dining room, also a Sports Bar/Nightclub, the friday night there was loud music until after 2 AM, and my room backed onto the outdoor smoking area, so it was difficult to sleep. The hotel was apparantly overbooked so I was moved to a dorm room with bunks, instead of my private twin.
Should check tge rooms door . Got things happens few times (not only me) which is cannot acces to the room.ergh😁 but overall..nice and cool ☺
