Value for money”
All the staff were friendly. I first stayed in this accomodation in 2010 followed in 2017 and then just last week (Feb 2018) my third time. My friends and I were all satisfied. The rooms were just basic but that's what we all need with good a/c and strong water.
Great for travellers on a budget with no high expectations”
This guest house is great for a night or two stay. They rooms are okay - it is clean, with fresh sheets, towel and pillows. But it gets a bit noisy in the surroundings, then the staff are okay but their desk is usually unattended. The place needs renovation I think hehe but it's fine. Its shower is okay - no hot shower though so prepare yourself for a cold shower at night. I would say, this is very good for budget travellers, nothing fancy but very accessible to town!
Spacious Room at affordable rate”
Location is very good. Their room is spacious with basic amenities and at affordable price.
Ill recommend it.
acceptable. just don't expect much. anyways, you will be spending your whole day outside. :)
Very basic room with no service at all”
Cons: Very basic room, small, dirty, bathroom with no pressure we used to bucket, lots of mosquitoes, very noisy (tv of the owner, neighborhood shouting, dogs barking...) Pro: Aircon even if noisy Location Only go there if there is no other option in Coron
very disappointed, dirty water...ugly room..there's a chinch on their bed.
Nice staff but very poorly equipped”
The place you'll be staying at is NOT the place featured on the picture !! Good location. That's about the only positive side. What you might call the bathroom (the size of a small toilet space) is a disgusting and rusty shower head hanging poorly over the toilets. Hardly any water pressure. Sink leaking so much it was like the real shower was coming from there ! Of course found a cockroach in there the size of my hand... The mattresses for the bed are pieces of foam coming apart. And the walls have holes all over so if you might be afraid of bugs coming in the room it's certainly not the place for you !
Location is great. Right in the city center but the hostel doesn't has any logo or name on the building, difficult to find it for the first time. Building and rooms are old but worth for the price. Free to use thte swimming pool.
1. The big house and the pool you can see are still under construction/renovation so we were not able to use them. Even we were not sure, if the big house/pool realy belongs to them, because one lady from the reception told us it belongs to the neighbours. The standard rooms are in a small seperare building. 2. The matrace of the "doublebed" was very old and only 5cm big. 3. The walls of our Room were so thin that we could here everything from outside, early in the morning it was very noisy 4. We could not flush the toilet so that the water comes up to the top. It needs many hours until the toilet was on normal level. They said its because of the tide from the ocean... 5. The service was not good. When we told them about a problem they could not help. 6. In the end we asked for a rebate for one day and after discussion we only got a rebate for a half day 250 Peso (5€) All in all it was an unpleasant stay and compared to other pensions on the Phillipines it is not worth the price!
affordable hotel ”
very friendly staffs, near tourist area and affordable rates.
Not satisfied at all
many fleas, bugs, mosquitos .”
1. the bed blankets was full of fleas and bug, we got all bitten and seriously allergic for that . 2. the hotel is not safe : there are strangers came to hotel yard, they were drunken, singing , playing guitar from 1am - 4:30am, and there was no hotel found out that and stopped they .
Many mosquito make sure u bring ur off lotions hahaha.. Rooms has aircon but no tv and i think its better to make it fan..
We stayed for 9 nights here. It wasn't great, but perfectly acceptable for $12/night (split two ways). I don't think our room was used for a while: there was a giant spider in our room the first night, and a roach by the waste bin. Our guests were gone by the next day and never came back. No hot water for showers and no toilet seat, if that bothers you. The bar next door plays music, but we could get their WiFi, so a bit of a trade off. There wasn't WiFi included with our room. They changed our sheets/cleaned once during out stay. They were always nice and accommodating though. I don't know what the stabdard practice is in the Philippines. It wasn't far from the shops, five minutes from the Mr. Tapius hike, and had security during the nights. Since we weren't there that often our accommodation didn't really matter.
Ugliest, dirtiest bathroom. No tv as advertised.”
Staff is the less helpful I ever saw. No toilet paper but the second day after another guest complained too. They have a beautiful miner bird almost starving without food or water. They don't care about since its no income for them.
Good location and friendly staff”
Dirty and extremely low standard. ”
This hotel is so run down it is almost collapsing. My room (Seaside room) didn't even have an inner ceiling but instead just a layer of insulation. My biddies room did have ceiling but was still decrepit. Walls are made of woven grass which is ok as a material but this was moldy, staind and smelly. The whole room was very, very dirty, the mattress on the floor was stained and the bathroom beyond a family-friendly description. The room didn't look anything like the photo I saw when booking. I did quite a lot of rock bottom, on a shoe-string, super cheap backpacking in the mid 2000's but this is the worst standard that I have ever encountered anywhere in the world. I even changed hotels because I couldn't sleep there, which is the first time for me. Location is ok (the town of Coron is super tiny so it's hard having a bad location) and the restaurant on the pier right next to the hotel (the one with all the mermaids) is decent. Staff was ok, a bit indifferent and not as friendly as Filipinos usually are. I was there exclusively for the diving but even still, the hotel was too bad for me. Maybe the other rooms are nicer, but the seaside rooms should be avoided at all cost. There are plenty of budget hotels in Coron so for the same price or just slightly, slightly more you can find something a million times better. I would not recommend Coron Reef Pension to anyone regardless of budget. (note: I live in the Philippines and have stayed in plenty of cheap hotels and pensions around the country so this is not some European being shock by low standards in the Phils expecting Shangri-la standards everywhere. This hotel is actually really, really bad)
Run down second-rate rooms”
Stayed in a room where new born kittens in the straw ceiling kept us awake. Took a full day to get a fan to supplement the poor AC/holes in wall.
Simple & Budget Friendly ”
Good place for the budget conscious & who would like to explore the city & do some water activities. Basic bed with aircon & bathroom. Just bring your own towel & toiletry as the price is good for just sleeping in. Very near the activity aras but is situated in a quiet surrounding.
