A Quiet Escape”
This was the last leg of our trip to the Philippines and what better way to end it than stay on a quiet and quaint resort outside the Coron Town Proper in Palawan. It’s a 15-minutes ferry ride to and fro town. Our room is clean, my family stayed in a room facing the sea and another island, which is a superb view in my opinion. They have a decent size infinity pool and the kids enjoyed dipping there at one time. We had breakfast for two free, so we just had to add two for a fee and their servings are considerably small as a comparison to an American serving. The food did taste good, Although, the resort is on an island, swimming in the seawater there is not allowed since a lot of jellyfish is in the area and the stings they say might be life-threatening. They offer kayaking as well as fishing activities, but if you want to experience the other beautiful beaches in Coron and would like to do island hopping the hotel can set a package for you. Just prepare to pay cash when you’re at the resort because they don’t really accept credit cards. For guests who wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the town, and just wanted a more relaxing or quiet stay, I recommend this place, but if you want the conveniences of staying close to anything like restaurants, stores, sites, nightlife, then just look for hotels and resorts in town. On a last note, whenever you’re visiting Coron, please don’t forget to bring mosquito repellents, also, always be mindful with your water intake or drinking cold tea, shakes and juices without asking where they got the ice or water they use to make it. My husband had an emergency because of gastroenteritis, then later on me and the kids got sick too. The district hospital where I brought my husband had lots of cases that day and it’s not just a number of tourists who were affected but natives of the town too. So just be cautious. Coron is still a beautiful place to visit. We wouldn’t mind coming back.
Relaxing location and amazing value for money”
Our family stayed here for a quick vacation and was absolutely satisfied with the place. Was hesitant to book at first since you need to ride a boat to get there but I ended up loving the peaceful vibe of not being in town. It was such a relaxing place and the staff were very accommodating. We were welcomed with drinks and cold towels as well. Would definitely recommend this place for people who appreciates scenic views and calm places. The facilities are also nice and clean. Kudos to their manager for being so caring about the guests’ needs all throughout the stay. Will stay here again for sure!
Island resort ”
We spent a few days here in the low season, so not many people at the resort. It's 10 minutes boat ride from Coron town and I used their airport pickup which is good value and was problem free. This is an Asian style resort, not high end. But the shower are hot, beds clean and everything works. Activities are kayaking (200php, 2hrs) and swimming. The restaurant is open 12 hs a day and cooks at anytime, but the menu is a bit limited and there's a free boat to Coron town.
WORST HOTEL STAY EVER. DO NOT COME TRUST ME”
So it starts off by the admin from Coron Underwater resort contacting us on whatsapp askign us if we would like a pickup which was very nice of them. After a 6 hour ferry from el nido to coron, we were then told to take a tricycle (taxi) from one port to another area (lauhalti park). At this point my girlfriend and I were still very unsure as where the actual resort was as on your booking site, it states that Fernvale River Park, Fernvale Middle Park, and Luwalhati Park and 10 minutes to the city centre. However it was not specified that this meant a 10-15 min boat ride to any of these places, as the island was very secluded from everything. We finally get to our resort and the staff had greeted us with a welcome drink. Right off, I noticed that there was nobody there and it felt like a “ghost town” but thats besides the point. When we got to the reception, we asked her questions regarding the facilities of the resort. According to your booking page, CUR has massages, diving, snorkeling, dart boards and laundry. When we asked her, she said none of them are of such a thing and they only had kayaking and fishing, which was an additional charge, which does not make any sense as it should be included in our stay. Furthermore, a huge issue for us was that we were only allowed one trip a day (one ferry to the port and one ferry back to the resort a day” any additional trips required from our side, for instance an emergency would have a surcharge of 3000pesos from 7-11pm and 1000pesos from 6am. After this shock, the lady had brought us to our room and it was honestly speaking the most disgusting room I have seen. I was personally in the military for 2 years and even our training camps were cleaner than this place. With ants everywhere, a broken AC that would be very loud throughout and not work, to a broken television, extremely dirty toilet, stained walls and floors and wifi that did not work were the least of our problems. When my partner and I were sitting in the room, she started to feel sea sick. The company had not specified we would be getting a floating villa. I went up to the staff nicely and stated that my girlfriend is not feeling well and she would not like to stay in this room and we requested another room. We told them all the problems regarding the room but all she kept saying was you can move on the 2nd floor as the wifi router is there which was not answering our concerns. We then told her a floating villa would not be ideal for her and she said you can upgrade your room for 1500 pesos. I thought this was quite ridiculous because as a hotel you should accommodate your guests in events like this. After we had just asked for sea sick pills but they said that they do not have any and if we would like to go to the pharmacy it would cost us 3000 pesos to go as it was out of ferry hours for them. I was furious. We decided to cool off and go to the restaurant to have some food. Since there are not any any amenities available, the only thing left to do in terms of eating was their restaurant. We go to the restaurant and at this point it has been 2 hours since we have checked in and not a single person was seen apart from staff and 3 chinese men which seemed to be the owners of the place, which was later confirmed. We order our food and were quite shocked at the prices as hotels with even better ratings were serving food at a cheaper price but since they were isolated they were able to make up their prices. We had paid 1518 pesos for 3 beers one pancit and pizza and pork bites. After ordering we waited for 42 mins before getting our pork bites and pancit. The pizza came almost an hour and a half later. Given the expensive price, you would expect better service and the lack of any people in the resort added more to the eeriness of the place. When we finally got the food, the pancit was good however the other food was not cooked properly and it tasted horrible. As we had just recovered from food poisoning a couple of days ago w
Relaxing and quiet vacation”
I travelled with my senior parents, a young child and two teenagers. The location is great since it was a boat ride away from town proper so you can really relax after a day of activities. They have a very good boat service from/to the town. The food in the restaurant is good too. It might be a bit pricey but understandable for the location as it is a tourist destination. We mostly eat in the resort for convenience so I can't really compare with town food prices. The staff are nice and accomodating too. I think we went in a not peak season anymore so we really enjoyed the pool so much since it was mostly just us using it. We got to ride the kayak too. Too bad it was jelly fish season so we can't do any other resort activities aside from that. All in all, I'm satisfied and happy that we book in this resort. A very relaxing vacation.
