Small functional wonderful hotel”
our stay at cosmopolitan hotel has been wonderful! located just round the corner in lovely st kilda, the hotel is accessible via two tram routes from the city, with many eclectic shops and eateries down the street. the cosmo petite room, as indicated is pretty small but clean and fully functional with all necessary amenities available, perfect for the night's rest. there was wireless connection available as well which was really useful. the staff were all friendly and helpful, giving us recommendations of st kilda, the city and day trips for various attractions that helped us greatly in planning our itinerary. while the hotel's breakfast was basic, there are plenty of other food choices down the street to be explored. definitely a factor in making our stay a good one and would recommend cosmopolitan hotel to anyone who's looking for a cosy place just outside the city area for their stay!
First Holiday in St Kilda”
Our first time staying in St Kilda and the Cosmopolitan Hotel proved an excellent choice. The location was only a short walk to Shops and Restaurants, Trams, Buses and the fabulous St Kilda Beach and Promenade. The staff were welcoming, the room was large, clean and very pleasant. The laundry facilities proved useful and were well kept. We found a nice spot in Acland Street called the St Moritz Cafe and had a beautiful breakfast there. We would definately stay at the Cosmopolitan again if travelling to Melbourne and recommend it to all.
Good Comfy Times”
The stay at the cosmopolitan was great. The value for money was superb compared with a number of other hotels and the service was superb. The hotel staff leant us power converters and allowed us to print some stuff for free just because they are super nice. The place is about 20 mins from Melbourne city center and a number of the tourist destinations but there is a number 16 tram that went right into the city which was great. The Cosmopolitan guys also have come good relationships with car hire companies etc...but we didn't know about these so missed out unfortunately. Had a single machine for internet use which was a bit of a pain but good TV and clean room made a difference. The additional bed we didn't use but the whole room was very spacious and had facilities for self-catering which was awesome. Location was just near Ackland street which has some great spots for food. Right near St Kilda point which has penguins and was fun spot. Would definately stay there again
Great for a quick weekend”
We were in St Kilda to attend a wedding, and the Cosmopolitan Hotel was conveniently located near the church. It was a quick ride from and back to the city (assuming no traffic) and has some lovely staff who allowed us to check-in early and who ensured our rooms were tidied and cleaned each day. We picked a Standard Twin room and it came complete with a fully stocked kitchen, which allowed us to cook breakfast on our own (since there was no complimentary breakfast provided). I'd definitely consider it value for money nonetheless.
Great location and well-maintained”
Cosmopolitan was a great experience for us. It's right in the fashionable St. Kilda district, which puts you in walking distance from a number of restaurants, clothing shops, cafes, the beach, Luna park, and a grocery store. We've got a baby and anticipated higher food prices in Australia from the Southeast Asian country that we live in, so we booked the room with the kitchenette. It was money well spent. There is a grocery story nearby that you can stock up and you can reheat any leftovers you've got from eating at restaurants. The room was like a mini-apartment: clean, secure, and well-situated for taking a tram into town.
Beach”
I really liked the Cosmopolitan hotel in Kilda. Melbourne is just a 15 minute tramride away and the Beach in practically on the doorstep, as well as all of the differend things that Kilda has to offer. The rooms were small but that's what we payed for so i didn't mind (They weren't t h a t small). Everything else was great, i would stay there again!
Location Location Location”
This hotel is close to all ammenities and the beach, which makes the stay in St Kilda pleasurable. St Kilda itself is a great location in Melbourne, catering for both a younger and older crowd, yet just a tram ride from the city. The tram route passes a number of attractions like the aquarium, the wharf area and the South Melbourne markets. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would choose the same hotel again should I go back. Thank you!
Good value and location”
The Cosmopolitan worked very well for us, as we had some things to do near St Kilda; but easy public transport connections to the CBD (if you have a Myki card...). We liked the design of the rooms, but may be a bit too stark for some people. The bathroom was 'small but perfectly formed'. Staff were very friendly and accommodating (eg letting us park the car before check-in time started, gave good recommendations for nearby food outlets). Our room was on the 2nd floor and not too noisy although you will hear the early morning trams a bit. Small brickbats: the electrician used in the hotel did not show much pride in his work: openings in the cable ducting on the walls, and wires leading to bedside table not completely covered by ducting. Also, the shower recess showed mould stains - otherwise all was spotless. Will certainly stay there again, and recommend the hotel.
Great hotel near St Kilda main street”
The Cosmopolitan is located very near St Kilda main street, in walking distance to the beach and restaurants. The receptionist and staff were kind and happy, and we were surprised to see that the in-room snack prices were fair, an exception to most hotels that charge at least 5 times the regular price of an item. Great value for money, and highly recommended.
Cosmoplitan does the trick”
We always stay at this hotel in St Kilda, it is right in the heart of the town whilst being quiet and not on the main drag. We usually stay ina delux room which is really nice, this time we opted for a petite to save cash. It was really small but clean and suited our needs. I like this place becasue it is modern and has great bedlinen, comfy bed, flat screen tv. It is perfect for a weekend in Melbourne as it is close to the action and I can spend my money on the great shopping nearby, not the hotel bill. We never have breakfast in the restaurant attached as there are SO many great places nearby that have superb menus.
Cosmopolitan Hotel in St Kilda Victoria”
The Cosmopolitan is a great value hotel in the heart of St Kilda, Victoria. It is a 1 minute walk from lots of restaurants and 500 metres from the beach. It has public transport via the tram straight into the city in about 30 minutes or a 5 minute tram ride to Balaclava Station to use the train system. The hotel is very clean and tidy with attentive staff
Conveniently situated hotel”
I was in St Kilda for a theatrical event. This hotel was close & relatively cheap. Ackland St and its wonderful eating houses is only a block away (although, beware! Breakfast is a bit more of a trouble -- most of these places avoid breakfast.) The hotel will give you a "packed-lunch-type-of-breakfast. I thought I'd do better outside -- and failed. Still, there is a Macdonalds just 2 blocks away. Staff were friendly & helpful (although surprised that I had left my car in Craigieburn & used public transport to get to St Kilda). The no 16 tram from Flinders St will get you there, no troubles! Although small, room was quiet and had everything I needed.
Location Lication, friendly staff.”
Location and really good size room. minutes walk to the famous Luna Park and Acland Street. Trams every 10 minutes to Melbourne. Airport Skyline Bus stops right outside. Microwave in the room would have been nice as we found no kid friendly cafes eg kids menus in St Kilda. McDonalds a bit grotty, needs a a make over and a better standard of food service. Food and coffee shops fabulous for adults, but was disappointed that a seaside town on the whole lacked child friendly facilities. Sunday market very nice and the promenade and pier beautiful.
Excellent location, nice style, tiny room”
i was advised to stay in st. kilda by a friend, and the cosmopolitan was a good spot. the price was right, but after my downtown business hotel, which had desk/sofa/kitchenette, the room at the cosmopolitan was incredibly small. no full closet, no bathroom counter, no chair to sit on. very basic. but the bed was comfortable and the sheets were nice. the staff were lovely, and came within a few minutes to fix a small problem i had. the lobby has nicely designed chairs and good magazines. and the location is great - on the 3, 16, and 96 tram lines, and easy walking distance to shopping and food on acland, carlisle and fitzroy streets, not to mention the esplanade, beach, and pier. i'd stay again, but probably spend a bit more money and upgrade to a larger room.
Comfortable”
I was looking for a hotel close to the city that offers free parking, so finding Cosmopolitan Hotel(which is centrally located at St. Kilda) is a major bonus. I was pleased that they have a secured car park that can only be accessed with the room cards. Moreover, even though there are limited car slots, you are allowed to park your car at random spots when it does get full. The staff members at the reception are happy to take your keys and move the cars around if you so happen to obstruct other cars. However, the interior of the hotel does look a little worn and inaccessible (we got a room outside what looks like an emergency door, which was a little annoying when we moved our luggages in). Room cleanliness can also be improved. However, they have got incredibly comfortable beds and that's always good. Overall, a pleasant stay.
Value for money!”
Short walking distance to St Kilda Pier, grocery store, and restaurants. The hotel comes with FREE car park! You can park here then walk to the pier to see the penguin! The hotel lobby looks newly renovated. The hotel rooms are actually not new but it's clean and comfortable. There's electric kettle but no microwave oven. For the family room that we get, the corridor is actually facing hotel backyard open car park, some people may not feel that secure (especially we are from Malaysia). The other side of the room (window) is facing the street, you can hear tram crossing (but it's quiet after midnight). The room is very big. It has 1 king-bed and 2 single-bed. Overall, I think it's pretty good, value for money. I would come back again.
Cosmopolitan Hotel, Melbourne”
We arrived at this hotel after a horrific flight. We then had to walk in the rain to find a taxi. When we got there the staff were brilliant and even upgraded us for free!!! Rooms were spacious and had a fridge, tea and coffee provided, cafe bar downstairs, car parking in trendy St Kilda. We will definately use this hotel again when in Melbourne.
COMFORT AND CONVENIENCE CLOSE TO THE CITY”
The Cosmopolitan Hotel is a really convenient hotel for weekends away in Melbourne. It's in the middle of St Kilda and is a quick tram trip into the city. My husband and I will use it as our Melbourne base whenever we have weekends in the city.
Value for Money”
My first night was facing the road and across from a Backpacker/Bar. Very noisy even though windows double glazed. However I approached management and was put into a room on the back side of the hotel. I had 2 nights of great sleep, so do yourself a favour and ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you want quiet. The staff were very polite, friendly and accommodating and nothing was to much trouble for them. The staff recommended restaurants to eat at and give you some vouchers for meals and drinks. Trust me take them and use them. I had an incredibly awesome dinner of slow roasted lamb shanks with creamy mash and wilted vegies and 2 free drinks all for $17 at one of the restaurants vouched for by the staff. The hotel is centrally located in St Kilda near Luna Park and is 2 minutes walk from a wide variety of shops from Maccas to local fine dining at great cheap prices. I would highly recommend this hotel but stress get a room at the rear of the hotel.
excellent location”
i stayed there for 5 nights and it was excellent. loved the location and could walk to the beach and the lively acland st for food. the st kilda neighourhood is also nice to explore on foot, saw some nice homes and fitzroy street had many good restaurants too. there's a lot of pastry shops on acland and that was nice too, to sit and drink coffee while people watching... it's also walking distance to hotel esplanade where there's live music performance. the ride to the city is convenient and the daily pass is only 6.80 and that gives me the freedom to travel around the city on the trams instead of the free service within the city which runs less frequently and doesn't go to as many places. i really enjoyed my stay there and would recommend it to anyone else who's looking to stay outside the city and yet be in a vibrant community.
