The hotel that served our needs with kind staff”
took about 150p by taxi to the hotel. mactan island is not similar to other tourist island destinations like thailand. first thing is this hotel is situated in a remote area. so forget about thinking of walking out of the hotel esp in the late hours. and there is nothing much outside these hotels anyways. some restaurants like maribago grill which we went was nearby, but other that you need the hotel staff to get you a cab to goto your destination. the good thing is they have free shuttle service to cebu city which is only one way and leaves 10am daily from the hotel. they drop you at ayala or sm city malls which are the biggest in cebu city. taxi ride to the hotel will cost 230p if no jam and 300p if there is a jam esp traveling back in the evenings. you have to make a deposit of 3000p when you arrive at the hotel. and there is no safebox in the rooms. you can keep them at the lobby safe. they will issue you a key and if you lose the key it will cost you 4000p !! as for the pool, there is a adult pool and another one that has a slide. even it is great for the adults to try the slide. as for the beach, depends on your luck. if you arrive on a day of low tide, you will see seaweed everywhere. but when the tide its good, you can go for a swim on the beach. filled with white sands and clear waters. however when you set foot on the beach you will hear touts calling out for you to try their activities (island hopping, jet ski, etc.) but you have to try at your own risk and the hotel will not bear any responsibilities. breakfast was not that spectacular but it was enough for us. tv had many cable channels. hotel staff are nice and will greet you with a big smile. overall i will rate costabella value for money.
Lovely hotel with great customer service”
The Costabella is truly a beautiful hotel that's just the right size for easy access to all amenities yet not so small that guest are in too close of a proximity to each other. The rooms had airconditioning that was well positioned (too many hotels have poor planning with a/c blowing right over the beds and are too loud) and had instant hot water for the showers. A big plus! I was worried about the beach as other reviews said it was terrible. It really isn't. Unless you expect beaches that are really not to be found on Cebu/Mactan islands. It is smallish, it is exclusive, but then again, most resorts have the exact same thing. What we loved about the Costabella beach was that you could swim out to a lovely floating raft. Also, we had our snorkelling gear and amazing enough, just in she shallows of the private Costabella waters, we spotted a juvenile octopus! Spectacular. The staff were friendly and cordial and helpful. They made me a great surprise birthday breakfast cake from scratch and made a lovely secluded dinner for my parent's anniversary. All you have to do is ask and they'll make a plan. Unfortunately the pools close at 8pm and 10pm (yes, there's two). But luckily the staff were fine with us swimming at night in the ocean area. It's small and protected so we were fine. The only disappointment was the wifi. It was consistently down. But if you had a laptop with a LAN connection then you could get online in your room. That worked out as second best but my uncle with his iPad addiction was not impressed. I would definitely stay there again!
Awesome resort! But watch for twin beds!”
i had a very positive experience at the costabella. the staff are all amazingly efficient, knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. i loved chilling by the pool working on my ipad (free wifi -- speed decent but not super fast) with the restaurant guy fernando (?? i think) watching out and bringing me beers when i needed a refill. the beach is nice from a far, but not for those who want to swim or go for long walks on the beach, since you can't do either at most of the resorts on mactan. i think the bluewater just up the road is the only one in maribago with any decent beach area. the rooms were showing a bit of wear and tear, but in very good condition overall. and i didn't car so much because the resort is incredibly well maintained, and that's what i was there for. my one complaint was that all of the standard rooms have twin beds. this is probably because there are a lot of families and package tourists there -- but it's annoying not to have the option. it's rare these days for hotels not to have queen size or larger beds at the nicer resorts, so i hope the costabella will follow suit. oh, and the concierge desk was amazing. i went up to malapascua island and they were able to answer every question i had about, well, everything. thanks for that.
Great Hotel like paradise”
i loved it so much at the costabella tropical beach hotel that i rebooked there for the final few days of my holiday in cebu. its like paradise and my friends stayed there too from my recommedation. i would fully recommend this hotel to anyone ad i am going to go back there again the next time i visit cebu.
The most tantalizing, breathtaking experience!!!”
3d2n stay at the resort was really absolutely worth experience. came there with my girlfriend's parents. having a not so good opinion about the philippines, her parents in fact had a great time & thought filipinos had a great service with a smile. costabella staff are the real gem of the resort.starting from the front desk, jaycee, eliza & grace; la marina's richard & the gang- great job & top great service; very accomodating- they even serve food at the beach & in our room, no service charge & not waiting for any tip. we love their costabella fried rice, simply the best. though our parents thought the fried rice was not freshly done, chef made service recovery by replacing it with a new one & tasted well. we had confusion on our check out time @ 2pm but front desk offered sincerely having one of our room to be used till 3pm. we are just happy about the royal treatment they've done for us. people planning for a trip to cebu should/must look nowhere else but costabella. we've done a thorough research & it was just a perfect 3d on this lovely paradise.
Warm Service, Cozy Atmosphere, Value for Money”
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Costabella. Upon arrival I was greeted with warmth and cool glass of freshly blended fruit juice. I got there much earlier than check-in time but they had me up and in my room within only 30mins upon arrival. Their staff were super helpful especially with providing suggestions on travel and dining areas around Cebu. The facility itself was very clean, nicely decorated and the colours set the tone for a relaxing atmosphere. Only a few cases on the downside but they didn't greatly impact my stay, just good points to note for others who may consider this important. During my stay, there was some level of construction or room renovation going on so during the days it was kind of noisy, but I'm sure once that whole process is complete, guests will be able to enjoy an entirely peaceful getaway at Costabella. The A/C unit in my room was also a bit noisy but I found this was common in all the places I stayed while in the Philippines (4 in total). However I was not greatly bothered by this since I tend to sleep without A/C. The beach area is quite relaxing and pleasant, but there's not much of a 'beach-type' swimming area. Most visitors to Cebu may need to go further south to get hold of a nicer beach experience. Lastly, while they are not very close to local restaurants, shopping areas etc, they do have on-call taxis and motorized tuk-tuks which will get you where you need to go. Overall though...I enjoyed my stay and would not only recommend it to anyone travelling whether they are solo, with friends or with a family, but I'd definitely stay there again.
Lovely hotel and service”
I spent just one weekend in Costabella Tropical Beach Resort and overall I enjoyed my stay there. For those who plan to stay in Costabella I would suggest to consider the pros and cons. Pros: (1) territory is nicely organized, (2) the sunrise corner suite facing the sea is perfect, (3) the food and choice of dishes/drinks is perfect, (4)friendly staff and very good service. Cons: (1) the WiFi unfortunately didn't work well, I had to re-connect for many times and then gave up the idea to access the Internet, (2) rather small swimming pool.
White beach with Great Food”
Costabella has been a resort since my teens and they have done a great job in renovating but preserving some hints of the old Spanish villa-style Costabella. The beach front is one of the few white real beaches in Mactan that is still there. I was amazed with the food and of course, great Sangria... they even have the white Sangria! It was a pleasant surprise for a Cebu local like me to see it the same and yet more beautiful!
Great Stay”
We had a great stay at the Costabella Tropical Beach Hotel. The 2 pools were excellent, the food was great, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The beach was good (during high tide), and while there seemed to be a lot of people staying at the hotel, it never seemed crowded at the beach, in the pools, or at the restaurant. The Costabella was a great choice for a family with a young child. If we return to Cebu, we will stay at the Costabella again.
Just satisfying:)”
This was my second stay at Costabella after the one four years ago. I was really disappointed at Jpark resort(Imperial Palace back then) as there were too many Koreans(almost all of the guests) after the all the way through this far journey to have an exotic experience, while I was able to meet guests from various countries at Costabella, and it was the same this time as well. The location is little bit secluded, so walking there from the main street seems impossible as the ally to the hotel is like 15mins of walk without street lamps. Staff were really kind and sincere except one of them tried to refuse to borrow a beach towel when I was about to head for an islands hopping tour on my last day, while I had already asked them before the visit and gotten the answear of yes. She finally borrowed one in the end, and the hotel keeps your luggage even after checking out, and allows to take a shower at the public bath near the pool area, so it was really convinient. Their beach is beautiful, but the actually swimming in the sea is not recommandable as the sands under the sea floor gives a weird feeling. The hotel has its dock where your hired banka(boat) can pick you up right from the hotel. All you have to do is filing a document before the docking. except the weakness of sea floor sands, every other facility is just great and clean, and worth the cost. I'll definetely come here again on my next visit to Cebu.
Secluded, Peaceful and Tropical ”
I’m always skeptical in staying at Mactan because I know the beaches are all manmade but I am quite surprised or aghast that Costabella made it more natural. I thought I was at some beaches at the Caribbean or Costa Rica. You can still see the remnants of their old facilities but that adds up to its natural and tropical vibe. It is indeed home away from home. The staff were very helpful and the food, 💯. I’ll be back I promise
Resort life is a must in boring cebu”
Hotel was fantastic in all ways except for location. Pictures are a little deceiving, pools are much smaller in reality. 3 restaurants to choose from quality of was pretty good. Facilities include Pool tables, table tennis, water sports, private beach and cabanas. Bedding comfortable and shower spacious and good pressure. Most tourist hot spots are in Southern cebu which we didn't realise, if I had known I would have stayed there instead of mactan Island which is basically a dirty, uneventful island full of resorts and not much else. Not to mention taxi took 1.5 hours each way to go to cebu city or colon Street. Traffic in cebu sucks.
very helpful and friendly staff”
from the moment we arrived the staff were extremely helpful and friendly, i don't think they stopped smiling! 3 of us shared a room so we had 2 double beds, it was a good size and plenty enough for 3 adults for a few nights. the bedroom itself was decorated to a good standard, although the bathroom was a little tired but everything worked and was clean. we had dinner in the restaurant each night and the food was good and there was an excellent range to choose from. there was plenty of choice at breakfast too. we also got a packed lunch made to take out with us for the day. we booked an island hop through the dive shop at the hotel, it was cheaper than the guest services and there was more flexibility to choose which islands and when you wanted to go/come back. i visited the spa twice and had the 45 minutes foot massage and then the 135 minute sultan's full body massage package. both were amazing and exactly what you need to relax! the beach here isn't great, the pool area is quite nice but not huge so i'm not sure how it'd be in the high season. the resort is pretty close to mactan airport, it only takes around 20 minutes in a taxi. although i don't recall hearing any noise from the planes once where we there. we didn't venture out of the resort except for on the boat trip, however there didn't seem to be very much close to the hotel. as such you'd most likely need to eat most meals in the resort and arrange tours if you want to see more of cebu.
Enjoyable, clean , friendly”
We enjoyed our stay there. Plenty of staff to address any requests. Professional & friendly. We were pleasantly surprised to see that the web site pictures matched the actual resort upon arrival. So many resorts disappoint on this point. This is a smaller resort that offers most things that larger ones do in a compact well laid out way, without having to walk long distances; ( most of our previous vacations were with much larger venues ). Costabella was undergoing renovations while we there on one wing, but surprisingly the noise level went mostly unnoticed. There was no excercise room , however this may be in part due to the reno work ; ( I did not ask ). There are two restaurants , both outdoor, with Spanish/tropical decor. Food was average.Inclusive breakfast buffet though varied, could use some improvement on keeping items warmer. Items were always luke warm except for the egg cooking station which is made on the spot. The other food item that needs attention is the brittle hard bacon. There is crisp & there is rock hard. Its a shame that this meaty bacon is way over done & usually cold. Simply switching from candle warmers ( that dries out most of all the food items ),to water warmers would certainly go a long way to improving the eating experience. The pricing on menu food is too high; ( though in line with many other resorts ). Most guests eat out, as we did most of the time. Pricing items in line with Mall restaurants would certainly fill up the near empty restaurants, & more than likely make up for the costs by volume , & create more customer satisfaction; ( this was one of the most commented on complaints in discussion with other guests ). A air conditioned cafe or similar would be also be a great benefit. One other annoying thing, is that only one key card is given out, which makes it somewhat inconvenient, especially if you cannot immediately locate your room mate. Overall these are minor criticisms, & the overall value for money is worth it.
Highly recommended hotel”
Value for money - We decided to book a suite instead of the poolside rooms and it was definitely worth it! Location - The hotel is located about 30mins away from the airport but is pretty secluded and very private. Unlike Boracay where the beach and the properties alongside it are continuous - and so you can walk along the beach and visit places - Costabella and the properties around it have boardwalks / solid walls that hinder you from going to the property beside it. You would have to go out through the main road to see what's beside it. Then again, we wanted to stay by the beach for our trip and since Costabella had everything we needed we didn't really have to go out of the property as much. Staff - The staff are very nice and accommodating. They are also very professional - they respect your privacy and personal space. You barely notice them but they appear discreetly right when you need them.
Great place that will give you amazing experience”
we been looking forward to feel the breeze in the resort that we chose online however... its total crap!!! that made us search the nearby resort. we found costabella online and decided to have lunch to make sure the we are not making mistakes for the second time .we had lunch and everything is great, booked the room online and check-in the next day.we had amazing experienced and awesome stay .we really love the food ..the food that we ate we reckoned that even better in fine dining restaurant that we've been.wait there is more....the staff are very friendly. honestly, one of the places that i could tell to my friends that when you go to mactan don't miss to visit the resort unwind and experience the great service of costabella.
Ironman 70.3 2016”
I love Costabella and didnt want to leave. The staff are all nice, pleasant and welcoming. The facility is nice and well kept. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Food in the restos are good and priced reasonably. I would come back here next time I come to Cebu. However for Ironman event it is not very convenient although they have a shuttle for race morning-- for other days during the event it is hard to get transportation to and from Shangrila. But because I was so happy with Costabella, Id still stay her for Ironman and just have a car rental. I love costabella
very friendly and relaxing ”
I found the Costabella Tropical Beach Hotel extremely satisfying. The Wi-Fi did not work in the rooms, however there was good connection at the beach, in the lobby and restaurant. I would recommend this resort 100%!
amazing experience ”
Costabella is actually one of the nicest hotel in Mactan Island. Less expensive than Plantation Bay and White Sand Maribago but it's along that same road/area. Although the bathroom was a little tired but everything worked and was clean. we had dinner in the restaurant each night and the food was good and there was an excellent
Highly Recommended ”
White sand beach well provided with many comfortable sun chaise lounges, outdoor lounge chairs and bean bags in the evening, allowing several guests to look for a comfortable spot where they can relax. Appreciate the reasonable and sound policy of not being overly strict in counting the number of persons who swim at the pool. Unlike in another resort also in Mactan which require only 2 persons to wear the bracelet and only said persons could use the pool. I feel that Costabella resort is more reasonable on this policy as it allows parents and guardians to take turns in looking after the kids. Indeed, every member of the family gets to enjoy the trip. Will definitely return here :)
