Whether you are a history buff, a nature lover, or simply seeking adventure, Cambodia has something for everyone.

When to Experience Cambodia’s Magic

Timing your visit to Cambodia can significantly enhance your experience. The best time to visit is typically during the dry season, which runs from November to February. During these months, the weather is cooler and more comfortable, making it ideal for exploring the temples and enjoying outdoor activities. The peak tourist season coincides with this period, so expect larger crowds at popular attractions. However, the vibrant atmosphere during festivals like Khmer New Year in April adds a unique charm to your visit.

Visiting during the wet season, from May to October, has its perks too. The landscapes are lush and green, and the tourist crowds are thinner, allowing for a more intimate experience. Rain showers are usually brief and can provide a refreshing break from the heat. This is also a wonderful time to see the rice paddies in full bloom and witness the incredible wildlife that thrives during the rainy months.

Each season in Cambodia brings its own set of festivals and cultural events. For example, the Water Festival in November celebrates the reversing of the Tonle Sap River and features boat races and festivities that attract locals and tourists alike. Staying informed about these events can enhance your travel experience, allowing you to immerse yourself in the local culture and traditions. Regardless of when you choose to visit, Cambodia's magic is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Essential Travel Tips for a Memorable Journey

Traveling to Cambodia comes with its own set of unique experiences and challenges. To make the most of your trip, it's essential to be prepared. First and foremost, understanding local customs and etiquette can go a long way in ensuring a respectful and enjoyable visit. For example, when visiting temples, dress modestly by covering your shoulders and knees. Removing your shoes before entering sacred spaces is also a sign of respect. Engaging with locals in a friendly manner will enrich your experience and foster meaningful connections.

Currency-wise, Cambodia uses the Cambodian riel, but US dollars are widely accepted, making transactions straightforward for travelers. It's advisable to carry small bills for convenience. In terms of safety, Cambodia is generally safe for tourists, but like any destination, it's wise to stay vigilant. Keep your belongings secure and be cautious in crowded areas. Familiarizing yourself with common scams can also help you avoid any unpleasant situations.

Lastly, ensure you have travel insurance that covers medical emergencies, as healthcare facilities can vary in quality. Staying hydrated and protecting yourself from the sun is crucial, especially during outdoor excursions. By following these travel tips, you'll be well-equipped to navigate Cambodia's beautiful landscapes and rich culture with ease.

Traveling around Cambodia is relatively straightforward, with several transportation options available to suit different preferences and budgets. In cities like Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, tuk-tuks are a popular and fun way to navigate the streets. Practical Information for a Smooth Trip

Before embarking on your Cambodian adventure, it's essential to be well-informed about practical matters to ensure a smooth trip. Visas are required for most travelers, and e-visas can be easily obtained online for convenience. Make sure to check the validity of your passport, as it should be valid for at least six months beyond your planned departure date. Additionally, travelers should familiarize themselves with local customs and etiquette, such as greeting locals with a smile and a slight bow, as this is a sign of respect.

Health and safety are also important considerations. It’s advisable to consult with a healthcare professional about necessary vaccinations before traveling. Carrying a basic first aid kit and any personal medications is also recommended. While Cambodia is generally safe for tourists, it's wise to stay vigilant and avoid displaying valuables in crowded areas. Understanding local emergency numbers and having travel insurance can provide peace of mind during your stay.

Lastly, learning a few basic phrases in Khmer can go a long way in enhancing your travel experience. Simple greetings like “sous-dey” (hello) and “akun” (thank you) are appreciated by locals and can help foster positive interactions. “It was late night when we landed at Seim-reap. The hotel staffs were waiting for us during we were in process for visa. They gave us cool towels which smell so good and coconut drinks with big smile. Even they cut the coconut by themselves after they took off it from the car trunk lid. It was the first image of Cambodia! :) The hotel room was so big and clean. The romantic swimming pool was just in front of the room. Everyday we enjoyed the swimming. The massage at the hotel was also very nice. Not that expensive. The dinner and breakfast also so good, especially I love the Khmer dinner. It was course one, and this was one of my best time in Cambodia. Every staff always smile and say hello to guests. Actually it's kinda small part, but I think it shows their service mind. I miss them so much. The event they offered us for celebrating our anniversary was so awesome and lovely. I definitely recommend you to stay this hotel, you'll satisfy with everything, I swear!”

“There are so many reasons why eOCambo Residence was amazing. - The check-in was outstanding. was greeted with welcome drink and home made traditional Cambodian crisps. Sehya explained everything about the hotel, everything about the city, the best way to tackle Angkor and other useful information. He was so genuine it was a great first impression. - The room was great value for money. The free minibar (replenished daily) along with fresh dragon fruit, bananas, traditional wafer biscuits and water exceeded my expectations. The room had a beautiful bath, luxury shower, great balcony with nice view and felt really spacious. There was plenty of fresh flowers which was a nice touch too. - The breakfast buffet was great. Even better was the additional breakfast items you can order like Eggs Benedict and Hotcakes. this was all included. Such great value for money. - In most countries, many traverers won't drink the water from the tap. This place has filtered water in the reception that you can fill your bottles up with. Very thoughtful. - Throughout my time, everyone said hello to me and greeted me by name. Not sir or by my last name. My first name. The culture that they have built here is unheard of. I swear I heard the Tok Tok drivers calling me by my name too. The housekeepers were so friendly too. - Please give Sehya and the manager of the breakfast in the orange shirt (I forgot his name), and the manager that processed my checkout, a huge compliment because they made this the best stay ever. I'll tell everyone coming to Cambodia to stay here and I'll definitely come back here myself. Thank you all so much :)”

“Great international hotel with all the facilities you would expect of a 4 star hotel. The swimming pool was fantastic and perfect after a day visiting the temples. Good choice of food (western and asian)in the breakfast buffet. They will even arrange a takeaway breakfast box if you are getting up early for the sunrise at Angkor Wat. Great room, great bathroom. Only real negative point is the high cost of using the internet, which at other hotels in Cambodia we stayed at was always free.”

“We stayed at the Independence in January 2013 during our Cambodia tour and we can definetly recommend it. Probably the best hotel in Sihanoukville with a lot of history. We went to Sihanoukville as a stopover on the way back from Ko Rung and would not go there again, Sihanoukville is full of junkies and backpackers so that we didn't bother to go out much and stayed inside the vast hotel grounds (large pool, private beach). The architecture is really sixties style so probably not to everyones taste. Try to get a room on the 7th floor, the views are awesome. Staff is very nice and efficient, if you need a taxi (i.e. to Phnom Penh) ask reception, the guys got us a very good deal.”

“this was the 5th seperate visit to this hotel over the last 6 months, it is the only hotel I have ever stayed in phnom phen because I have no reason to try a different hotel in phnom phen. The only thing about the hotel that I would love to see improved is food. It is good, although a bit over priced, just not fantastic. That is the only thing that is holding it back from being a great hotel. I have stayed in 10 different hotels in cambodia (siem reap, koh kong, kep, suhinoukeville) and the okay boutique hotel is one of my very favorites. I always have a great stay there and feel like I am at home.”

“We stayed 3 nights in August in a Deluxe Twin room. Staff were extremely warm and attentive. When we arrived one lady took us on a walking tour of the ground level to explain their facilities to us, and told us that they could book for us a private English-speaking guide for Angkor Wat at $35 with separate tuktuk at $15, without giving any pressure on us to book. This is cheaper than anything my boyfriend could find online! I had shortlisted several hotels and my boyfriend chose this out of the few for it seemed the best located on the map, and I came to appreciate that very much, with such diverse dining options within walking distance, including Geneviene's (very tasty albeit expensive compared to other restaurants) just outside the hotel which we went every day that we were there (and I wouldn't mind going back). The hotel is also walking distance to night markets and pub street, yet far enough to be quiet. The nearest cheap bottled water is towards the right about 4 minutes down the road, at a pharmacy (the 2 marts at the junction to pub street are about twice as expensive). We really liked how the hotel made their room so comfortable, so spacey, with a big mirror and a side mirror that you get at branded hotels, rain shower, decent quality shampoo and shower foam, plenty of space around the sink to place your toiletries and clothes, providing bath robes and cushy slippers, and even a weighing scale (albeit a little inaccurate), small dining table with 3 chairs in the room, and an extra bed (somewhat hard and which we didn't need for sleeping but were happy to have). One small complaint I have was that the aircon seemed somewhat unstable in the night, as I didn't get to sleep well due to the temperature changes. Their pillows were too fluffy for a backsleeper like me, and their staff were very nice to bring me a softer pillow but it was still too high for me. Nevertheless, I like this hotel very much still!”

“I would like to recommend this hotel for all of you. I guess that it's perfect hotel in Cambodia. At first, surprisingly they could serve breacfast for us even though check-in day when we just arrived at hotel early in the morning! I have never had such an experience in my life. And hotel size is nice for me so that it is small, not noisy and busy for breakfast. Food is also good, especially homemade yogrut! You have to try it if you visit to this hotel. In addition, drink and snacks are free for 5-7pm everyday! Room is also amazingly clean and comfatable. There is one more good point is that this Hotel is located at a bit far from centre of city, so surrounding the hotel is very quiet. And Hotel has exclusive tuk-tuk and the guest use tuk-tuk by free from 5-10pm. Therefore, this hotel is Amazing and Fantastic. I want to stay in this Hotel again when I visit to Cambodia at next time.”

“This has to be one of the best service I have experienced all over the world. I have stayed in boutique hotels all over Europe and Asia but this certainly has the most personalized, heart-felt welcome & service. From the complementary pick-up and drop-off service from/ to the airport, welcome flowers, drinks, souvenirs upon departure, tuk-tuk service throughout our stay, Michael and the team have certainly delivered the best service I have encountered. For the hotel itself, it is situated close to Pub Street, impeccably clean - one afternoon we stayed in the room to rest after the Angkor Wat sunrise, and we found out they actually clean the pebbles one by one that are laid outside of the room! One would expect we would be staying with small insects since we are in Cambodia, I cannot trace one inside my room! The pool was great - it was clean, with several loungers and the poolside snacks are great! I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Siem Reap.”

“I booked this hotel with only few information available by that time like, name, 5star, room category. It was no risk because of free cancellation and very good prices for a 5 star hotel plus great location. I asked for more photos of the hotel on their facebook and was provided immediately. Shorty after our booking confirmed, staff emailed me a greeting email and provided me all necessary information. It was our anniversary and the hotel treated us with special decoration and free upgrade. The hotel is really nice actually, a lots of green and you feel very quiet even though in middle of tourist attractions. Knowing that it has just launched soft opening 2 weeks before, i didnt expect a lot and i think the room has done pretty good job. Yes there are many things to be improved like unstable wifi, no TV list, pet was allowed but these things can be improved. Overall design is nice but the bathroom lack of atmosphere, would love to have a glass looking over the room (i know some rooms has). The spa locates underground and lacks of spa feeling. The area was tiny and too dark. I know there is treatment room by the pool but my treatment was done in normal room. The prices were good, reasonable and the quality of therapists were decent as well. When i booked the room, it included free daily tuk tuk, our host did inform that by the time of checking but when we went out on that night, staffs didnt know about that but after few phone calls, they sorted out. On the good side, the hotel literally in front of royal palace, i can access to many places by walking. And the entrance to the hotel from Royal Palace is just so beautiful, with trees and buddha decoration. I spent most of my time by the pool, huge pool and very nice. Do try to get room with balcony, i've seen both Place view and River view, they all great. Nothing beat having cup of tea during sunset from your balcony. I would say booking this hotel now because you may not get the same prices as they are now. For me t”

“I have to admit Lumiere exceeded my expectations and I'm highly likely to return if I ever visit Phnom Penh again. The room was very nice, modern, and clean. I loved that they have multiple USB jacks (even on the clock on the nightstand) to plug your devices in. The only issue I had was with the shower as the shower pressure was very very weak and if you flush the toilet it will reduce the pressure and hot water a further 2-5min. The bed was very comfortable and I actually slept too well my first night and woke up late! The staff were incredible. They happily helped me make restaurant phone bookings as my phone only had internet data, and happily answered any questions I had about currency, travelling in Cambodia, etc. To my surprise they clean the room twice a day, one of which I opted out of. Room service in general was great. I accidentally spilt a drink on my bed sheets at midnight one day and they were still happy to come change it. Facilities wise they have a simple but great gym with fantastic views of the city on the rooftop. My favorite was the squat rack with bar which you rarely find in any hotel in the world. The skybar has nice views, the bartender was very friendly and made me a mocktail even when it wasn't on the menu. The cafe downstairs makes pretty nice coffee (which I'm quite picky about) and is a nice place to relax. The location of the hotel is fantastic, many major restaurants are within walking distance. The palace and national museum is also just a 10-15min walk away. Lumiere is very well managed and it was definitely a highlight of my trip. Will definitely recommend to others.”

“My wife and I stayed at this hotel and it was the best hotel we stayed in. I was truly amazed with the interior of the hotel (lobby). The hotel is located very convinient, along the main road, a short Tuk-Tuk ride away from downtown. We booked a Superior Room facing the swimming pool for the first night, and then we booked one for the next 3 days facing the parking/street, but they told us that we could keep the room facing the swimming pool. They are usually more expensive due to the balcony we have there and the view of the inner court and swimming pool. The breakfast was very good, good selection, not to mention the 5-star interior of the restaurant. All employees are just amazing, so helpful and understanding. The Assistant Manager of the hotel came to our table at dinner and took the time to chat with us, regarding the King of Cambodia. It was a holiday that day to remember the dead of the King. Someone from the hotel picked us up from the airport to the hotel the night we arrived and also we booked again a hotel transfer the night we had the go back to the airport. With a surprise, we saw a Mercedes S Class stopping in front of the hotel door and the Assistant Manager of the hotel (was working that night, too), told us, this is the car. They opened the doors for us and with this car, we drove to the airport. Great service!!!”

Upon arrival I was warmly welcomed by the staff , my name was mentioned as well. The staff were extremely friendly, I had two great evenings here. The bed, bedsheets , pillow, pillow case and or the furniture brand new. The swimming pool is great with a good view at Level 39. It's just walking distance away to a Shopping Mall and the Casinos or you can just take a Tuk Tuk which cost about a dollar or 2. I'll definitely stay here again on my next trip to Cambodia.”

“Stayed at Koulen with a group of friends after another Cambodia expat friend raved about her stay there. Staff were super friendly and easy to communicate with. We were booked into two separate, twin/double bed rooms. On arrival they asked if we'd be ok to be put into a 3bedroom.suite together instead, an upgrade at the same price - and we were THRILLED with it. The suite was massive, incredibly comfortable and allowed our group to have a living room to hang out in. Swimming pool was fantastic too - has two little "hot" tubs attached which was much appreciated after we took part in the Angkor Wat 10k. Kid-friendly too (one of our friends had her children with her), location is fantastic so we could walk to pub st if we wanted, or take a passapp tuktuk. Breakfast was a good spread, included omlette station, a noodle station, and waffles. Fantastic overall, we absolutely loved it and we will definitely be back. Thank you Koulen hotel!”

“This was my second visit to Sun & Moon Urban Hotel. It literally is an oasis in the midst of seedy bars and dubious night life. Once inside it is difficult to leave as everything is at hand and presented professionally with that famous Khmer smile and grace. The room was spacious and well appointed. Breakfast is quite standard for hotels in Cambodia. The jewel in the crown is the pool area that affords great views across the city and river. Whilst it is close to Riverside a person has to negotiate their way past the hostess bars and tuk tuk drivers frequently refusing their offers of massage, tours etc. This can become tiresome. A different location, even one closer to Riverside would make the hotel perfect.”

“This is our first time to travel in Cambodia, we have stayed in Phnom Penh for 1 night & Siem Reap for 3 nights. As we got a complimentary stay for first two nights in Siem Reap at other hotel from a lucky draw, in order to extend my trip, I also booked 1 night stay in Mamoire d' Angkor Boutique Hotel. I must say: "Mamoire" is my best experience ever stayed, truely value for money! Firstly, we were warmly welcomed at the airport, with cold towel & drinks, comfortable Limousine, which is already included in the room rate! The driver & one hotel staff took us to go another route, quickly show us the beautiful Angkor Wat, even it's just passed by, we were very impressed. Hotel is clean & stylish. Every staff is friendly with beautiful smile, helpful and kind, which makes us feel like home. For the accommodation, we booked one MEMOIRE SUITE, but upgrade us to FAMILY SUITE. Actually we love MEMOIRE SUITE more as it's more romantic, but we also have a good stay in FAMILY SUITE. The location is good, just 15 mins walk to the city centre. If you have time, you can try the hotel restaurant, the food is very delicious! The last impressive service is complimentary laundry service, we love it so much!! Highly recommend this wonderful hotel. You will regret if you don't stay in Mamoire d' Angkor Boutique Hotel!”

It's very close to the party hub of Pub street but just far enough to stay away from all the noise from the main center. Pub street is only 1.5 km away from the hotel. James at the reception is always waiting with a smiling face to help you book to tuk tuk if you need it in advance. A tuk tuk ride to PubStreet/ Night Market costs 2 USD. Lunch, dinner and breakfast is readily you available at very reasonable prices. I will definitely recommend anyone and everyone to stay at this amazing place. Just to prove how helpful they were let me give you an example. I had left my shoes mistakenly at the reception after checking out. “Central Hostel was the best decision we made in our trip in Cambodia. The staff were friendly and helpful. They were courteous and kind, they did not hesitate in giving a hand when we were in need of something. The hostel was clean and I was surprised that they indeed change linens and towels everyday. That was expected from hotels and high-end hostels/inns, so we were not really expecting that they tidy the rooms everyday and even change the linens. They have a luggage counter to leave your luggage. Our bus to Bangkok was scheduled at 12 AM so we left at 12 Pm that day. We left our bags in Central Hostel and we went back because there was nothing to do. We stayed there in the lounge until the time we have to leave for the bus. They let us stay there and they even allowed us to charge our phones, use their wifi and play billiards. Central Hostel is worth every penny we spent there. “So many things I liked about this specific hostel. First and foremost is the people I've met there. Because of the small size of the hostel it felt like we were a little family than random strangers. The owner seemed to always come by with bananas, cakes, or even a full Chinese meal with chicken and fruit to give to his guests. He really cultivated a friendly atmosphere talking with all the guests about any questions or tourist things they might want to see or where to find cheap meals and so forth. One of my favorite things was the bakery 150 feet away. It made warm fresh bread everyday and only for 800 riel or at 9 pm everyday they sell everything out for 50% off. Also, there's a market 100 feet away where you can buy fresh produce. I was able to live spending less than 4$ American on food per day. Another thing I miss is the balcony, first thing in the morning, going out and enjoying the cool breeze from the river. The river is only 200 feet away and it made the air quality fresh.”

The staff were very nice. They offer free pick up and send back to the airport. The staff helped me buying cheap wi-fi sim and even helped me fix the problem with my phone. The service was not as the 5 stars hotel but they tried very hard to please us. The taxi service by the hotel was pretty good too. The room was very nice. The breakfast was ok. “Angkor Palace Resort & Spa is regarded as a five-star resort in Cambodian standards. It won one of the Agoda 2015 Gold Circle Awards for best hospitality and guest service in Cambodia. Indeed, the resort crew and remork (Cambodian tuk tuk) drivers excel in their services to the guests but they could improve their service and products further. Firstly, guests are welcome with drum beats when they arrive at the resort. This shows that every guest is a VIP. To match the exorbitant room price, the resort should consider providing shavers for men's use in the rooms. Angkor Palace Resort & Spa has a strange rule. All guests have to leave their rooms by 10 pm for the rooms to be cleared and cleaned. Therefore, guests were considered "checking-out" even if they had no intention to check-out before 12 pm. Please do not leave any loose baggage on the floor in the morning to prevent assumption that the baggage were to be abandoned by the room servant. Please bring the key-card along when leaving the room. The location was fantastic, close enough to downtown Siem Reap to get there by a 10 minute tuk-tuk ride, but quiet enough that within the hotel grounds you would think you were in the middle of the jungle. The room was comfortable (we stayed in a poolside villa with extra bed) and the outdoor bathroom/shower was a nice feature. The pool was probably the nicest hotel pool I have ever used, and the restaurant food was delicious (especially breakfast). That said the best part of the experience however was the staff, who collectively were very attentive to our needs and extremely helpful in not only the logistics of our stay but providing great recommendations for things to do in the area. But still, the driver was so nice that he introduced the area while driving. The staff welcomed us with refreshment drinks. I still remember their pure and lovely smiles. 2) Clean and comfortable I love the little garden in front of the front door. The rooms are also very clean and comfortable. You cannot expect more on their room cleaning service! Apart from the routine stuff, they arranged your stuff (eg. cosmetics) on the table in order every day. We were so surprised! They also leave some delicious desserts in your room for you to taste after a whole day of travelling. The pool is also very clean and pretty! 3. The beds, the linens, the bath, better than any I have had. You don't want to leave but when the city and the temples call, the staff helps you find everything you need with no push for special deals or connections. We met a tuc-tuc driver in the market who happened to be the lead driver for the hotel. Mr. Thorn took us everywhere for whatever we wanted to pay him. We went to Sihanoukville as a stopover on the way back from Ko Rung and would not go there again, Sihanoukville is full of junkies and backpackers so that we didn't bother to go out much and stayed inside the vast hotel grounds (large pool, private beach).

Breakfast is quite standard for hotels in Cambodia. The jewel in the crown is the pool area that affords great views across the city and river. “I stayed here on 3 occassions and stayed in 3 separate rooms. This is a new hotel and therefore presents as very clean and the staff are excellent. The owner is a hands on owner who i spoke with on a couple of occasions. The rooms are good value and i think 4 star is a well deserved rating. The breakfast, including the coffee is very good - it is a buffet style. The staff are great, they speak good english and are polite and attentive. The cleanliness of the rooms is A1. Roof top swimming pool. In my opinion, the best in Phnom Penh, it was great seeing the faces on people as they came up for the first time. Yes it is cold, but to it was welcomed from the heat. The jacuzzi does have heat. You will be amazed at the view. The only concern i have is that the amount of sun loungers available is not enough and i noticed a few occasions when people were unable to sun bathe. There is a roof top seating terrace, the hotel management at the point at which i left were making some changes for example to the location of the bar and putting a kitchen on the roof top for faster service of food. This did result in some noise but it will only probably take another week for it to be completed and in my opinion this will be well worth it. The gym: The gym had not yet arrived but will be there soon. The gym will have panoramic views. Elevator - this was my main negative point and it is a shame to report this in such a great hotel. I personally feel that two elevators are needed in this hotel. It is 11 floors and i found myself waiting from time to time. The smell from Kandal market - this is no biggie, this is Cambodia not the seaside. I actually think this will be somewhat resolved soon as there is a Japanese restaurant opening across from the hotel, which will mean that a number of the market trades will have to move on. That restaurant will be open in about the end of February 2015. Amazing hotel and centrally located.”

The bungalows (Garden View) are simple but it was exactly what we wanted- that Island vibe 🌴The front rooms looked amazing but we actually spent so little time in the room that we were very happy with the more private garden rooms. You tend to get drawn to the sunbeds, village, restaurant or activities. We actually extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights. Nicole and her team were so hospitible. THANK YOU! The massage I had there was the best in Cambodia- thank you “Dah-Lin(?)”. My only (constructive) Criticisms are that I believe the restaurant could better the food. Breakfasts are decent but lunches and dinners were not outstanding. The atmosphere and venue are fantastic but maybe the hotel could sponsor training for service & food. “This hotel was completely unexpected. When we arrived we were warmly greeted by the staff who were extremely friendly. My friend and I were backpacking to Cambodia but intended to stay at someplace nicer than the usual hostels, but for the price given, we certainly did not expect such luxury! The bell boy was an adorable and friendly young chap who gave us plenty of tips and advice. The reception staff were also very pleasant and were willing to help us despite their limited English. The room itself was AMAZING. We were thrilled to see how huge and well-decorated it was! Maybe because we had been backpacking so our expectations were kinda low. But having been to hotels of the same standard, this was truly one of the best. We had a welcome drink, cold towel to freshen up with, complimentary tropical fruits, and was blown away with the technology used for the switches in the room. Breakfast spread was decent. The pancake in particular was soft and yummy. But we were slightly disgusted by the insects that swarmed the vegetables and fruits. The only major complain I have is with the housekeeping. I'm not sure what is the system for housekeeping like in this hotel but for the 3 nights we were there, we were woken up every morning by the housekeeping staff even though we were not ready to head out yet. I understand that different hotels adopt different systems, but for a hotel of this standard, we expected better. To make things worse, even though we requested for them to come back later, they never did. For the entire duration of our stay, not once was our room made up, unfortunately. Thankfully we were very much pleased with every other aspect of the hotel, especially with the warmth and friendliness of the staff at the lobby, so we didn't kick up a fuss about the housekeeping matters. Location was great. Close to bars, eateries and even salons. A 24 hour minimart is also a short 2 min walk away, which was very convenient. Well done Katari Hotel!”

“I read a lot of reviews about this hotel, some good some not so good but my own experience of the place was beyond any meaningful criticism. The staff, including the boss who came and spoke to us every day, were excellent and could not do enough for us. The food at the hotel, where we ate almost every day, was the best on the strip. The room was beautifully appointed with access to the pool right outside our door. The pool itself was also lovely, very clean and just the job after a days sightseeing or if you wanted a break from the beach. All in all worthy of 5 stars and I’ll recommend it to anybody thinking of going to this part of Cambodia.”

“I just stayed 2 nights but really enjoyed it as a relaxing get away attached to a longer Cambodia adventure. Koh Rong is beautiful, more nigh5 life in Koh Rong village but Long Set is better as a secluded beach get away. The beach, pool and restaurant were quite good. The breakfast is buffet style with omelettes and pancakes, french toast and many western style breakfast items and also good chinese style breakfast. I recommend the sea food grill and the Tom Yum soup as best dishes for dinner.”

“Great hotel for the price, I will stay again next time I'm in town. I stayed at the 5 stars hotel for 2 nights after staying here and from a value for money point of view I would definitely pick the Patio instead. It doesnt have all the 5 star comforts but it costs a 1/5 as much. I only stayed for one night but would have likes to stay longer. It was so beautiful. The staff were super friendly, it was very clean. The pool was amazing! With a supeb nearby view of independence tower and a langka temple. Totally stunning!! The food was great! I have dinner by the pool with cocktails and didn't have to wait long at all for them. The breakfast was fantastic! Super clean presentation. The massage treatment I recive was one of the best treatments ive ever had in cambodia :) I do not have one bad thing to say about this hotel, it's great! :D”

“We arrived earlier than our check-in time and were immediately escorted to our rooms, which were large and clean. The staff could not do enough for us. We had initially booked 3 nights but stayed for a further 4 nights because we enjoyed it so much! The pool was clean and open until 9.30pm with shower facilities beside the pool. There was a dining area and bar at the pool which was always manned. The hotel itself was a in great location and always quiet. It was a short walk from the centre of Siem Reap and tuck-tuck drivers were always available outside the hotel. If I was to return to Siem Reap I would be booking back into Mekong Angkor Palace, I wouldn't even look at another hotel, it was probably the best place we stayed during our month long trip through Cambodia and Vietnam.”

“good location, about 10 minutes walk to night markets, and pub street, as well as the old market, and river. along the road to main road, at least 50+ good quality with charming price. very very clean four suggestions; 1. put a fan in room top, can save more A/C 2. the tube water desgin seams some problem, water can not go inside smoothly 3. staff are nice, and friend, but not that professional compare with other countries (I dont know if most of the Cambodia hotel staff are the same or not). 4. breakfast are the same (4 choice only).”

“Staff were awesome, right from the checkin, to the cleaning staff and front desk booking us a taxi to leave. Breakfast buffet on the 8th floor with views of the city with lots of window tables. Breakfast was decent altho could use a few more choices. Still was no reason to leave there hungry. Lots of fruit, eggs and ham , a few Kmer dishes , breakfast cereals, white and 60% whole wheat bread to toast. Coffee and tea ( tiny cups) and some juices. The rooms were very impressive, and our 8 ft x 6ft 6" bed was super comfortable. New smart TV, and lots of amenities, like hairdryer , robes , slippers, toiletries, kettle , and plenty of plugs bedside. Nice minifridge, lit up when the keycard is in its slot. We paid 37$ CaD ( US 30) per night , this included the buffet breakfast for 2 . and this was by far the best deal we have had in Cambodia in our 3 trips that we have done there. Location is decent , being a few blocks south of the Central market.”

“I was pleased with the room overall, clean, spacious and satisfactorily decorated. The whole place is as advertised in pictutes. The towels & bed linens were white and provided daily. Kitchen was a plus and as advertised had everything. I did not cook but microwave was used. Breakfast buffeted provided with hot a d cold. Omelets if wanted, juices, cold cereal and hot meats, etc. Disappointed with the restaurant's dinner menu which was basic & not much variety. Don't go by the online restaurant pictures, this was another hotel restaurant. I did not eat dinner at Chateau but did eat 1 night at the other restaurant,,Mealea. Awesome foods but high end. I would stay again if return to Cambodia. The view was to front with temple and Royal palace very close.”

“I moved from Ohana Hotel to G Mekong Hotel since the former one was not as clean as I expected it to be. Upon arrival the entire staff was extraordinary helpful, friendly and worked hard to please every possible wish I could have. My room as on the 7th floor, right next to the swimming pool - which was serviced from around 7am to 9pm and always maintained in a very clean state. The hotel also offered a gym as well as a spa - which I highly recommend due to the professional standards. The breakfast is served in the restaurant on ground floor - they do offer a wide variety of different kind of national and international dishes, a serviced egg / omlette / noodle soup station that is always ready to serve freshly made dishes as well as high quality coffee as well as tea and hot chocolate. The only components I missed were cheese & ham and whole-wheat bread. Maybe that could be improved to offer an even better service next time. My room was very spacious, offered a kingsized bed, an office table, a flat screen, a bathroom, a wardrobe, and mostly I was stunned by the modern technology that is used to control everything within the room. I experienced twice a power shortage lasting for about 1-2 minutes, yet it did not influence my stay in any negative way. I personally will be coming back to this particular hotel the next time I visit Cambodia and am looking forward to be welcomed in such a high quality facility again.”

“King Rock is an amazing hotel situated a 5 minute walk to Pub a Street. We were a group of 15 people and were treated like family by the staff. They provided everything we needed and went out of their way to make sure we had a fantastic stay. The cooking class run by the chef is a must. We were taken to the markets and shown the best produce to make traditional Cambodian food. The rooms are big with every amenity you need. Breakfast has a good choice of food cooked fresh to order. The menu for lunch, snacks and dinner was comparable to prices in Pub Street and tasted amazing. Unlike other places happy hour 2 for 1 drinks included fruit drinks for those who don’t drink alcohol. This hotel is a gem and we will definitely be staying here again next year. We have found our happy place! Thank you King Rock for making our time in Cambodia extra special!”
