The fanatic hotel is located east of Salalah on a beautiful beach. It hase nice spacious rooms excellent swimming pools and beautiful private beach. The staff are extremely helpful especially suliaman, they go extra mile to make life easier for the guests. Restaurant is very limited in food choice and expensive. Management need to consider providing business center ...

We only had 4 nights here on a family holiday (three rooms) but would have enjoyed longer. Excellent location - out of Salalah but within easy reach if you have a hire car - the Al Baleed museum is a must, and the night market nearby there is pleasant and also provides an excellent chance for a very different sort of evening meal. The beach is very pleasant in the ...

I stayed at 2 rooms, family interconnecting) in AL WAHA. The rooms are clean and tidy. Enough water bottles are provided. Wifi is OK (not high speed). I am sure this hotel is one of the best in Oman, and you will be satisfied. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. There are some negative points I would like to mention (but still acceptable). 1. Play Station 4 was provi...

Exceptional! best hospitality i have ever experienced and great facilities. Pool is temperature controled and beach is clean. Great location in salalah near to many tourist attractions. It should be rated more than five stars compared to other 5 star hotels in salalah.

This hotel is located in convenient area. It has good access to a new shopping mall, Muscat Grand Shopping Mall, bus stop, restaurant, bakery and cafe. Sightseeeing area is a little far from this hotel. But, hotel staff are very helpful. They shared local information with me, confronted a bad taxi driver instead of me and always worried about me. I really appriciate. ...

Lovely location on a mountain top. Fabulous facilities however not the ideal couples/honeymooner location since it‘s highly promoted to families. If you pick a time outside of school holidays you should be fine ;) Staff is absolutely amazing. Best breakfast buffet in Oman. A Spa treatment highly recommendable.

We knew nothing about Muscat and it's geography. We happened into the hotel because of the value and the ratings. The location is excellent, not far from the airport and attached to the Grand Mall and a walk to the Oman Avenues Mall. The mall allowed us options for eating. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. Julius, at the front desk, was always there to welcome...

We had a great time at Juweira Hotel, very neat and great facilities. I would like to specially acknowledge the hospitality of Mr. Muslimin, very helpful and understanding to our needs. I would definitely recommend this hotel. Few areas of improvement which need to get addressed --- Wi-fi should be provided in all rooms, irrespective of the type of rooms, having wi-fi ...

We stayed for the weekend. The signs passed the border of UAE/Oman about the Resort was not sufficient, I think they should add more signs so guests won't get lost. We didn't fortunately, however, once we reached the unpaved road, we started thinking, maybe we are lost, until we saw the Arrival Lounge. From there we were taken care of, private 4WD to the reception of t...

Salalah in Oman has many beautiful spots. People are very polite and kind. Try the local food. Choose the correct time to visit as weather changes from season to season. In August it was not hot though humid. The negative part was that the sea was very rough so couldn't swim.

This is a very old hotel located almost next to the city centre. Due to renovation works the signboard of the Hotel was not visible nor displayed as we drove in . The Building had a certain box like look, like a residential apartment. The general layout of the lobby is very good and it was really spacious. We were given a very big and spacious L shaped Deluxe room(...

The hotel just recently opened, the location is by the sea and just in front of the Marina. It can be easily reached from the airport. The whole interior design of the lobby, restaurant and the rooms is just beautiful and with lots of lover for the details. I got very excited about the Rituals beauty products on the room. Also the mini bar is completely free of charge,...

So... I booked this hotel because it was cheap and my fligjt was arriving very late at night. So I just wanted a cheap place to sleep so i can check into the 5 star the next day and use the full hotel. I was expecting a pretty basic room etc. Room was big. Staff was very helpful. Comfy bed. No noise. Good wifi. I was pleasantly surprised. I could see the sultan ...

Great hotel in a good location. If your driving while in Muscat they do have a parking garage below the hotel which is secure and free to use. The location is right on the edge of many of many shopping districts and not far from Oman Avenues and Muscat Grand Malls. We were upgraded to a "chalet" since occupancy was low when we were there. We did make it up the mountain in our 2WD car without problem. Our son liked the play area and we enjoyed the walking. Seems all hotels in Oman are priced quite high. If you have lunch there, prepare to see it again for dinner! Good quality food though.

The hotel is just good enough with good location. Old hotel but maintained. I stayed only one night. The standard room is very spacious with separate sitting area. The lights were deem in the sleeping area and no good view from room. The breakfast was nice with selection and lot of verities. They provided us complimentary pick up airport transfer. Excellent hospitality...

I stayed at Midan Hotel Suites for two nights and it was a decent accommodation. Overpriced like most hotels in Oman but clean and in a good location in terms of nearness to both airport and the main attractions in Muscat. The room was clean, spacious with comfortable bed, kitchen and free wifi. Hotel staff at the reception were very helpful. However, breakfast was ...

i enjoyed my stay in star emirates suites. it was hard to find in the beginning (it was wrongly pinned on google maps), but the rest of the experience was good. the place is clean new and clean and it was great value for money. wifi speed was acceptable. very little facilities are available though (i.e. no designated parking, no gym, no coffee house).

Excellent Hotel Apartments with good facilities and helping staff. Overall our experience is very good. Especially Ali bhai was very helpful through out. I would definitely recommend and would love to visit this hotel when ever i visit salalah again , Thank you Star Emirates

stayed 4 nights cover almost most of the places of salalah including festival of oman isultan Qaboos mosque , Hafa souq in side city salalah ... the places other than these which u can find in city is Nabi sualeh she camel foot print which was preserved behind masjid Salman farsi near fish market and Nabi Imran [ AS} grave close to the hotel .

I was in Oman for a friend’s wedding and stayed at Centara for 4 nights. The room was absolutely wonderful, modern, very clean and very comfortable. Definitely valued for the rate I paid. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly as well. It’s located quite near to the Grand Mosque (should only cost you 2 Oman Riyals from the Hotel to the mosque). However, try...

The staff at the Golden Tulip work really hard to make your stay there a great experience. For Oman, where most hotels open to foreigners are very expensive, the Golden Tulip offers great value. It has a lovely pool, which when the summer is on, is the best place to cool down. There is also a variety of bars, where you can have soft or alcoholic drinks - again not al...
Cheap places to stay in Oman

If you cannot spot turtles from your balcony at Ras al Hadd guesthouse, this is a perfect place for a stopover on your way to Ras Al Jinz for turtle watching, which is just 15 km away. The price-value ratio is very the best we had in Oman, with a very motivated, friendly and helpfull staff (we were provided with information without even asking!). Nice spacious clean ro...

the room has not been cleaned properly. there are no tea bags and coffee in the room. services were just basic. there are no restaurants in the hotel, and need to go to an Iranian restaurant in another hotel next door, breakfast is sent to the room in the morning. the only advantage of this hotel is its location, closed to the broader, supermarket, and etc.

nice hotel and nice for shooping area and good sarvise and good eating haveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Staff excellent and observant, nice kitchen facility (but with no kitchen utensils), nice street view from room, room and bathroom very clean, but no shower curtain in bathroom (not a problem, air condition and fridge function well as wifi. Bed excellent. Smoking allowed inside room. Excellent shopping area with supermarket, restaurants, fast food facilities, bakery et...

The hotel was excellent & situated in the center of city. almost everything was near from this hotel. However ,they delayed on the daily housekeeping side but it has been resolved later. Mr Mohammed ghost & Mr. Imran ( reception) both were co-operated and very nice.

We enjoyed the hotel very much, it is not far from the centre by car. Staff very, very friendly and helpful. Very clean and spacious apartment. Kitchen not fully equipped, but that did not matter to us. Price/performance unbeatable. Would stay here again and can highly recommend it.

Room was excellent, but there was shortage of housekeeping stuff. Hotel staff always thinking that we were taking stuff out. They did not hesitate to ask whether we were taking the housekeeping towels when we were leaving the hotel. Didn't like this way of respect for all guests..

Place is clean. But be aware they do not clean the rooms daily. We had to call up the staff to get our towels changed cause we were only given 2 towels despite 4 people. The staff are very friendly but parking can be an issue as there are limited parking places. We had to park across the road so abit of hassle if we had to get our belongings to the hotel. But it is r...

Nice location, next to restaurants (Turkish, Lebanese, asia, Yemen and oman dishes), Mosques, shops, pharmacies, hospital, Coaches, Lulu Supermarket, Laundry etc Wonderful and helpful staff. Building and furniture:- Good condion but old and a bit outdated. Cost: fair

The employees (receptionists as well as the room personal) were very friendly and supportive. The apartment was big and had two bedrooms. The parking slots in front of the hotel were free and easy to access. Unfortunately the reception couldn't provide us with a hair dryer. In general it was a good stay for a short period!

I stayed twice at the Darbat hotel and can thoroughly recommend it. The hotel is located conveniently in central Salalah within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants / take away, just a short taxi ride from the airport, far better than some Salalah hotels which can be up to 20km away. The rooms are spacious and clean, with en suite facilities, free fast reliab...

When I booked in this hotel 2 rooms for 2 nights for my family I didn't know that I will enjoy this hotel the way we did!!! The rooms are like a big villa room, actually like a presidential suite. I found the location nice in proximity to Al Safir mall and all the other attractions in the area. The team are excellent and helpful, you can not expect better... We enjoyed...

The location is very strategic as it is very near Badr Al Samaa Hospital (where I needed to go to), and shops in Ruwi where my friend went. Restaurants are everywhere, and bus station around Muscat is just outside the hotel. They have parking spaces also where my friend parked her car. Towels, toiletries and big bottle of water were provided. They have very accommodat...

First of all one should realise this is not a 5 star hotel. So those who expect 5 star treatment need not read further. It is a very good budget hotel. Centrally located. with buisness district near by and shopping areas too without being in the bustle. We have already stayed here 3 times. Teh first one was not a good experience(@14 yrs back) but now the management has...

Excellent Hotel Apartments with good facilities and helping staff. Overall our experience is very good. Especially Ali bhai was very helpful through out. I would definitely recommend and would love to visit this hotel when ever i visit salalah again , Thank you Star Emirates

My friends and I stayed in this place for one night. We were 5 and we booked it because of its attractive rate among a few other hotels who also cater to group bookings. It was quite hard to locate at first because the Google location was incorrect and it led us to the establishment at the back of the hotel. Upon arrival, we observed that the staff were warm and friend...

The staff at the hotel apartments were friendly and helpful and the apartments were nicely furnished, spacious and clean. The parking for cars was really useful, as was the kitchenette and washing machine. It was good to have the option on an alternative coffee shop under the hotel. Breakfast offered choices and the staff would put on other items, like mushrooms, if ...

i had heard some bad things about the place before my arrival (noisy, unclean,...) yet ended up being pleasantly surprised with the hotel. it's definitely good value for oman, its central location is great, there's parking right out in front, and the room was spacious and clean. i was happy with my stay there.

The staff were good and cooperative. Thanks to Sultan and Etrich (hotel manager). The breakfast was just acceptable. Toiletries were not as compared to other 3 star hotels. Otherwise the stay was pleasant. This was my first trip to Muscat and am planning to organize things before hand with this hotel for my next trip.

Staff are helpful, Subeesh Incharge at front office area, he help me for anything and give me information while i am travelling to sur. Room are clean and nice location there. I will be back again to the hotel and suggest this hotel to all my friends who want to trip to oman :)

The service in this hotel was top-notch. The staff were very concerned that we would have a fabulous stay. The dining room staff catered to our desires and provided delicious meals with excellent service. Muscat Dunes is an excellent choice for your stay in Muscat. If you have a car, the hotel is conveniently located and is a quiet base to explore the city. The s...

I booked this hotel in advance for 8 nights and was fairly shocked to find that there were building works above my room. I have to say though that the assistant manager Wael and his staff did everything to put this right and I left feeling very well looked after and would love to return again in the future. The hotel itself is in a great situation just 5 minutes walk f...

This is the old 'in town' hotel in Muscat. It is the place were the 'smart set' used to get married. It has the most popular Japanese restaurant in Oman. The rooms are small but beautifully appointed and spotlessly clean. Great in town location with taxis always out front. I will definitely stay here again!

On the whole, was a good stay but few things could be improvised when it comes to service. Upon arrival, there were no assistance without baggage and this was after a long flight we had and our first there in Oman! Not a very pleasing start. Check in was very slow as there was a long queue of people ahead and despite there being a counter for gold members of the holida...

To reach this hotel was a rather adventurous ride through windy mountainous roads. Specatular and enjoyable ride though. For first timers driving on this road it may take at least 1 to 1 1/2 hours to navigate through these roads to reach the hotel. The hotel is so isolated that ifyou wanted to get into the city (Muscat) it would be a tiring drive back. The hotel its...

The hotel is brand new and situated close to Muscat airport. Currently there's still some construction going on around the hotel but the rooms are nice and quiet. The staff are friendly and helpful. Rooms have some small issues like the lights suddenly going off and not responding to the main switches or one bed side switch. Parking is available but it's limited and ra...

It was great which my rating shows , When I was booking it through Agoda i was thinking its cheap so we might face some difficulty but upon reaching the hotel we were taken by shock since the service was excellent , its cost efficient , the attentiongiven by staff is same as any other big hotel. excellent stay .

Apart from a very unhelpful blond at the boutique hotel reception who would not help us find the reception for the apartments, everyone and thing after that was of a high standard. The sight still has a lot of development ahead but far enough away not to disturb your stay. The drive to the resort is superb. They haven't sorted out the signs so we did find it difficult to...

Duqm is an embryonic city with 2 hotels. The Crown Plaza is the more luxurious hotel option. During my stay (Feb 2014), Nawras had zero signal in the restaurant, and a little in my room. The staff confirmed this is normal. If you want a nice, affordable hotel in the middle of nowhere, stay here. It is about 10 minutes to town, and another 10 minutes to the entranc...

We visited the hotel directly and informed receptionist that we would book via Agoda.com and stay in their hotel. We requested assistance to avail their wifi in advance or pay for it so we can book our stay. The receptionist clearly mentioned that wifi is for guest only. We end up searching for wifi nearby the hotel just to book our room online. When we did book th...

The Hotel is 3 star certified, but the facility is a 4 star one. The breakfast was good, staff was courteous, and tried to take care of even smallest of needs. The location was easy to find, as there are signboards starting from the Jetty itself. It is located in a very calm and quiet place and is a must visit for those who would like to relax, refresh, rejuvenate or ...

The hotel is close to a number of inexpensive restaurants, bakery, food shops within a short-working distance, although the sight around is not much to see. Hotel food is good but not much choice especially for breakfast probably because I stay during the hot season with not many tourists as customers around. Hotels in Oman are everywhere very expensive in comparison t...

Hotel in a superb location, on the beach, at the very side of Musandam Peninsula. Staff a little slow, but very kind and friendly. Rooms are ok and clean, but the hotel as a whole is a bit old and would need refurbishing. Hotel has received a lot of criticisim and negative comments, but: -it is impossible to find another hotel in such a position All the hotels on...

I have lived and worked in Oman for 15 years, this Hotel has been built for around 2 years the rooms are very nice with large bathrooms the dinning room leaves a lot to be desired it terms of furniture but the steak house (attached) just outside the front door is very good I will be staying again and the price was very good for Muscat.

The hotel is great for the city. The room is big and very clean. It has a small kitchen and a small laundry area. It is a good room to stay for a longer period of time, like a week or two. The building is near a beach so the view from the room is really nice. I do think the beach is not very clean, so it is not worth it to go to the beach. I also think that for a four ...

I booked the hotel primarily because of the pool, only to find that it was no longer maintained, and therefore unusable. While Mahadha is a nice hotel overall, it was not all that it appeared to be. I was also not able to connect to any of the WiFi networks, and the staff were unable to help me (other guests experienced similar issues).

On arrival we were informed of a room change. This was because we were offered a room more in line with the hotel's features rather than our personal request. Also agoda failed to describe the rooms correctly. We agreed to the change but didn't get more from it other than easier access to the pool area. The outdoor pool itself was cold (in November) which seems strange...

As a foreign tourist coming from far east, it was my huge decision to come visit Oman for my summer vaation. I stayed in Muscat for 2 nights, Salalah 2 nights (all with big name five star hotel), and 3 nights at Atana Musandam resort. Honestly speaking, among the three places, Atana Musandam resort was my best choice and I really enjoyed staying here. 1. Friend...

Good location. Super clean and comfy room with good amenities. Breakfast was not great. Hot selection could have been much better with more variety and flavour. Good choice of pastry. One of the best 5 star hotel that actually exceed my expectations. They treated their guest equal and like a master. Their business is to give pleasure to everybody and zero tolerance to disappointments. Salute to marketing department and to a very friendly staff. Thank you so much for a wonderful whole week experience.

The best place when looking for tranquility, relaxation and luxury! It's a wonderful place for those seeking relaxation in a unique surrounding. Some staff people are not 5star level but overall it's a fantastic place (even though expensive) to relax, hence i came already for the 2nd time. As part of our farewell to the Middle East, we decided to visit Oman as funny enough, it was only on of the few countries we had not visited, whilst having spent over 20 years as part of my work. We decided to go to Muscat and friends of ours made us aware that on our way we should visit Nizwa. Looking on the sites we found the Alila Jabalpur Akhdar hotel and booked a ...

I was looking for a 4-5 star hotel on the sea in Oman and this popped up as a special on Agoda. I had never been to Oman before, so of course I had not stayed at this hotel previously. I was very pleasantly surprised. The rooms were huge with ample air conditioning. The large king-sized bed was very comfortable and the bathroom had a tub and a large shower stall. ...

Amazing hotel with Super, Super, Super friendly and efficient team! Delicious Buffett, relaxing bar, spotless rooms and large clean bathrooms! The bed is tremendous after a Long intercontinental flight! I can not recommend this hotel enough for business travellers to Muscat.

We had a wonderful stay with family. The Hotel is conveniently located. Only a few minutes drive to the beach and to the CBD. Excellent facilities, very clean and all the staff were great! Shrey and his team at the restaurant were simply exceptional!

enjoyed the pool for hours and quiet gardens. comfy bed, swish bathroom and excellent al ghazal pub night. top canadian covers band and decent beers and food. an excellent treat to end our oman trip. gr manager sorted our padded bar bill pronto - someone called el hadad had added his drinks to ur room bill. the word of an englishman was taken on merit here!

Very expensive breakfast (€40 per person and night...). Sheets are always humid. Very little choice in the menu of the room service. Good location with beach (even though the sea water is very polluted) so we end up using the pool only. Good pool and good service from the staff there, at the pool. Expensive for what you get but that's what happens in Oman in general...

Outstanding Hotel in Oman. Close to the mall. Were very accommodating in letting me check in early given that I landed at 8am. My room was fabulous; it was a struggle to leave it throughout my stay. The best outdoor pool I have ever used. The temperature was perfect especially at night. Would definitely stay there again!

Hilton Salalah is a great hotel with nice location. The staff is friendly and offers excellent service. This is a perfect hotel for relaxation. We spent hours lying besides pool/beach with live band playing in background and drinks served on the pool. Room service however was a disappointment. We could only get a response after making 2-3 calls. We wanted to book car t...

This is still the best hotel in Muscat and probably one of the best in the world. The location is simply superb. I can't understand why anyone would want to stay at Bar al Jissah or the Chedi. On this occasion our stay was spilt by the very poor set menu at the beach restaurant on Valentine's night. Ritz Carlton should do much better than this.

The Marriott is now an older hotel in Oman and so it feels a bit dated in the building and room layout compared to its newer rivals. However, whilst popular with tour groups, it also offers the independent traveller a great base to explore the beaches and hills to the east of Salalah. About 40 minutes drive from Salalah, in the fishing town of Mirbat, it is on the coa...

This is my second visit to this wonderful hotel. Located at sea edge and set as a holiday resort, it is not far from town or port where most business is conducted. At the end of day of my 6 night stay, I had enjoyed the cooled swimming pool with the great bar at pool edge and an extremely friendly bar tender "Rakesk" maybe wrong spelling of his name but he is 12 of 10 ...

Three hotels in one al waha is family orientated so overrun with kids and more populous restaurants al bandar a medium hotel still with children but a bit quieter due to price, al husn is a premium hotel a lot more exciting expensive but with an air of exclusivity about it. All quiet expensive but expected for Oman right now...

This place was really a nice surprise for us. With help from the owner, it was easy to find. For both travellers with or without car, the room is nicely situated. Friendly and warmhearted welcome. We stayed 5 nights and would recommend this place to everybody. Nice breakfast too!!!

For those seeking an authentic experience, Oman offers a treasure trove of cultural activities. Engage with the local community through traditional music and dance, or participate in a cooking class to learn about Omani cuisine. The country’s festivals, showcasing its heritage through colorful celebrations, provide visitors with a unique opportunity to witness the vibrant spirit of the Omani people. With so much to offer, Oman promises a journey filled with enchantment and discovery.
When to Experience Oman at Its Best
Timing your visit to Oman can significantly enhance your experience, as the climate varies throughout the year. The best months to explore the country are from October to April, when temperatures are cooler and more pleasant for outdoor activities. This period is ideal for sightseeing, hiking, and enjoying the stunning landscapes without the sweltering heat that characterizes the summer months. Local events and festivals often take place during this time, providing an authentic glimpse into Omani culture.
In the summer months, particularly from June to September, Oman experiences high temperatures that can reach up to 50°C (122°F) in some areas. While this may deter outdoor exploration, it’s worth noting that coastal cities like Muscat and Salalah offer a respite with their sea breezes and beach activities. If you plan to visit during this season, early morning or late afternoon excursions can be quite enjoyable. Additionally, the Khareef season in Salalah from June to September transforms the landscape into a lush paradise, attracting those interested in experiencing Oman’s unique monsoon climate.
Another factor to consider is the timing of local holidays and events. The Sultanate celebrates several important occasions throughout the year, such as Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, which are marked by festivities and cultural activities. Planning your trip around these events can provide a deeper understanding of Omani traditions and allow you to partake in the celebrations, making your visit even more memorable.
Essential Travel Tips for Your Omani Adventure
Traveling to Oman can be an exciting experience, but being aware of local customs and etiquette will enhance your journey. Omanis are known for their hospitality, and a friendly greeting can go a long way. When meeting someone, a simple handshake is customary, but be mindful that some women may prefer not to shake hands with men. It’s always respectful to wait for the other person to initiate the greeting.
Dress modestly, as Oman is a Muslim country with cultural norms that emphasize modesty. For women, this means wearing clothing that covers the shoulders and knees, while men should avoid shorts in public spaces. Swimwear is acceptable at the beach or poolside, but it’s best to cover up when leaving these areas. Additionally, it’s important to be aware of local laws and customs, as public displays of affection are frowned upon.
Health and safety are also key considerations when traveling in Oman. While the country is generally safe for tourists, it’s wise to stay informed about any health advisories, particularly regarding food and water safety. Drinking bottled water is recommended, and travelers should be cautious when sampling street food. Lastly, consider travel insurance for peace of mind during your adventure, ensuring you’re covered for any unexpected events.
