We had a flight early in the morning, so we stayed here for one night for the proximity to the airport. The room was very nice and clean and the bed was nice and comfortable. My only complaint is that the bathroom wasn't really a room, there is a glass enclosed area for the toilet and another glass enclosed area for the shower which didn't offer much in the way of pr...

Great time in Cape Town everyone from the the hotel was helpfull and friendly. I spent great time in South Africa. The food was delicious and Simon and Sally from the staff very pollite. The manager of the reception always helped us to solve any problems and people from travel desk prepared us wonderfull safari and "Hunting the Great Whtie Shark" in Gaainsbay. I strong...

The location is great, literally 5 minutes walk to the beach, main promenade and restaurants. The hotel is nice. You get what you pay for. The rooms are comfy and neat. The term "Ocean View" is loosely held, if you're happy with a slight glimpse of the ocean between the buildings but the beach is across the road so you can hear and smell it all the time which is great....

Hotel is close to the airport. Free shuttle to and from the airport. Entertainment on site. A variety of eating places and meals are reasonably priced. Friendly staff who are always willing to help with whatever you need. This made it a pleasurable stay at the Peermont Mondior. Rooms are spacious and clean. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a great spr...

A wonderful find, will always use when in Jozi. Great views, friendly staff. And a very nice property. Looks better than pictures. Woolies and Pick 'n Pay in complex making life a hell lot easier. Did something stupid, forgot my car window open. In the morning my GPS was not there. I was resigned to another thing I have lost to theft in South Africa. The Concierge...

Being in a wheelchair in South Africa, I often find that I am unable to gain access the many public places. The Park Inn Sandton was a breath of fresh air for me. I could get around my room. the shower was wonderful and the dining area was accessible to me without me having to disturb other guests. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I would not only visit th...

Stayed on our way into and out of South Africa as very convenient for the Johannesburg airport and much better value than the hotels on the airport. Large comfortable rooms and bathrooms (separate shower and bath), regular free shuttle to airport and they allow you to leave luggage if you are coming back to stay. Did not have time to check out facilities. An excellent ...

This my 2nd time at this location. I will always book with them when I go to Cape town. It's great for the price. What I will say is it is great, and staff extra helpful and mannered. One thing to put you up on is the 1st floor has a big balcony and the 2nd one is a smaller one. The perks of the smaller balcony is the room furniture is a bit more decked out. Not that t...

This apartment is just two minutes walk to Westin hotel and CITCC. It is quite convenient for transportation either by uber, or water taxi along the river up to V&A water front. You will feel like at home in very corner when staying at this apartment. The only one thing that there is neither international standard power socket inside nor South Africa converter availabl...

good location within easy walk to mall with good selection of restaurants. hotel room was spacious and very comfortable and very clean. hotel had good deck area with pool but lacked loungers and despite asking they never appeared but this was a minor issue as we lay on the artificial grass instead. staff were very good and helpful and the breakfast bag provided on very...

The staff was absolutely wonderful!! They made our stay in Cape Town the most memorable vacation we have ever had, ( we travel) alot. Hlonela and the new girl with the short blond hair went above and beyond to make sure our stay was the BEST, we are forever greatful. From the location, room size and staff we give Icon 5 stars!! We will definitely recommend Icon Luxury ...

The most disappointing aspect of Ivory Tree was the poor quality of the food. Neither my wife, nor I are "foodies", but we appreciate quality and the basic ingredients used for the meals at Ivory Tree are simply 100 miles from 5 star. I cannot think of a comparison, as no restaurant that I know in South Africa would serve the equivalent. Another specific sign of proble...

What a wonderful intro to South Africa. Absolutely stunning location and the most welcoming staff. Food was delicious every day and fresh as can be as it all seems locally sourced from the farm on premises. Spa was also very pleasant. Only thing I’d prefer was if there was a way to control for flies which were moderately annoying in the spa waiting room which would ot...

We stayed at South Beach Camps Bay Hotel for our last night on our 10 day South Africa trip (East - West Coast) and it was the perfect way to end our trip. The location was perfect (few mins walk to restaurants) and the room itself was fabulous. This is rather a boutique apartment - we had a kitchen room, living room, king bed and bath with Jacuzzi tub. The fridge was ...

We spent one night in here, it is located in a casino where all restaurants are located nearby with amazing choices. Room is a bit small and dated though it is comfortable. The breakfast is really amazing it is the best we have had in south africa I will definitely recommend!

We arrived at the airport in late afternoon and the hotel car was there to meet us and deliver us to our rooms. The car was impeccably detailed which led us to an equal expectation at the hotel. We were not disappointed. Up to date and modern styling with all the amenities you should expect are waiting for you. The bar offers all the usual plus a local variety red wine...

My husband and I loved staying here for our honeymoon. Our ranger (Ryan J) was the best and was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We also got a couples massage and it was extremely relax...

We had a wonderful stay at the apartment and the staff especially Marlon who welcome us on arrival were very friendly and even recommend some good restaurants which was excellent. He even make sure the day tour pick us up right from our door step instead of us having to walk to the security guard which is further. He will go the extra mile to help us arrange for some ac...

After touring South Africa for 2 weeks we were looking for a relaxing time before returning home and found the V&A Hotel far exceeded our expectations. The room, food staff, and service were excellent with one of the most extensive breakfast buffets we have seen. The location was superb with easy access to many tours and site seeing options. Overall we thoroughly enjoye...

The Blackheath Lodge was a great place to stay in a quite location, taxis are cheap so it's easy to get around. With so few rooms you get great personalised service, the staff were outstanding, especially Michelle who arranged for all our day tours during our stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again or recommend it to others who like to stay somewhere with charac...

Our room was on the pool deck and had a beautiful view overlooking the ocean. We found it very quiet and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast had many selections of fruit and breads as well the chef would prepare eggs to your likening. Each day there was a breakfast special. Lunch was available for a charge however we were always out and did not eat there. As is ...

We stayed at Akademie for two nights during our honeymoon in South Africa. Wow - where to start? This hotel is absolutely gorgeous, certainly one of the nicest we have ever stayed in. Rooms are actually vast suites which are beautifully decorated down to the finest detail! We were lucky enough to have both the hot tub and swimming pool to ourselves during our stay - th...

I really loved the location, it changed my dbn visit for the first time in my life....... facilities was good.... I visited and called the hotel for an early check in which I was advised the hotel was fully booked, which is understandable. ...However the room was still not ready by 2:30..... What i did appreciate was being upgraded to executive room.... Another point t...
Cheap places to stay in South Africa

Great location, supermarket, shops, cafes, restaurants next door and many others within easy walking distance, from 1minute to 5minutes. The Blue Shed Coffee is a must. Great staff, very helpful and friendly, 5 stars all the way. Great hostel. Short & long walks/hikes close by. Fantastic coastal views. Safe town in SA terms. Totally recommend and would stay again and a...

I recently stayed here with my parents, visiting us from the UK and my 2 teenage girls. There was a booking error with the room I'd booked, but the lady on reception was SO helpful and my parents were upgraded to a luxury tent that was superb! The staff are super friendly and helpful, the food is DELICIOUS (please eat here, don't go anywhere else!!) the fire they light...

It was not pleasant as I had a fever and I was there during the south african winter time, so I could not enjoy the splendid surroundings with hiking, exploring and trekking. As a place to stay, I'd recommend this place very much though. Quite cheap, great service and a surrounding that takes your breath away.

First it was just a night to stay and than leave, but when we arrived, we were welcomed more than friendly. We had a nice talk and the possibility to buy meat for a low price. They have a cute cat, squirrel, meerkat and a dog and you can pat them all. Even they gave us a game drive for a small amount and they could tell a lot about the country. I would definitely recom...

The people at Amakaya were super friendly and helpful - particularly Caylan, who goes out of the way to help the guests out. Room was very comfortable and cosy. They also have a very cosy bar within their premises. I would stay here again if I do come through Plett in future.

Ok firstly if youve never been to Coffee Bay keep your expectations very low. The area does not have alot to offer. Already buy all your food and goods before getting here. Eagles Nest Hostel is a Backpackers so you are lines living in the bare basics. Thomas the caretaker of the Hostel is very friendly and helpful. You are about 10min walk from the beach and a 11km...

Yohann was very kind and welcoming and even upgraded my room which was such a pleasant surprise since I had been on the road for a long time and it was so nice to have my own room and bathroom for once. He provided great detail about local eats and attractions and very kindly drove me to the bus port even though the bus was at 3am in the morning. His kindness and gener...

My stay at Hazyview Adventure Backpackers was a good time. It is centrally located close to Hazyview, Sabie, Graskhop, and of course most importantly two Kruger Park gates. There are plenty of adventure activities nearby and the owner was very helpful in providing information on these. The dorm was nice. Clean and very comfortable beds. The kitchen area could use a lit...

We were really satisfied here! The people at the front desk was really helpful. You get what you pay for but it's clean enough, you get a good enough breakfast and the bed was totally fine! Minus for share bathrooms and plus for being able to park the car inside the gates! Definitely recommend if you want to save some cash on accomodation!

Booked a double room, and the room that we were allocated to was clean and of a pretty decent size. Checked in near midnight, but the staff was kind enough to just quickly pass us the key to the room and let us deal with the paperwork the next day. Would come back again :)

From the airport, the best way to go is by taxi as it is nearly the same price as shared transport to this location. It is from 240 to 260 Rand. You can get it prebooked online via bookings @ sport24hrs.co.za which is the service I used back to the airport. I used the service at the arrivals hall counter on the way in, but I think just to the taxi stand might be the...

Awesome location. Easy by an hour at most to get to surf spots north and south of JacobsBaai Backpackers. Staff friendly and accommodation comfy. Remebr it's a backpackers, so kitchen cleaniless depends on those using it. Maybe clean the tables and chairs more often of the berries and birdie poop :-). All in all a lekker time - Thnx

Stayed in one of the huts with double bed for 7 nights. The hut was fine, till the rain of the last 24-hours or so which seeped through gaps in the walls and pooled on the floor. The shared bathroom was fine, except being built under an existing dwelling you've got to be careful not to hit your head on the joist. A security guard watches the front of the property, ...

The first thing to point is how friendly the staff are! Readily good vibe from everyone and sincere smile! If you want to explore a bit waterfront area, that is a good location. A bit far from town Center though, but with Uber it's 5" and cheap! Facilities are good! Clean! I recommend! :)

Lovely friendly and welcoming hosts and bright, cheerful home. If you're single or a young couple looking for somewhere to 'crash' for the night this is your place. I arrived with children in tow and tbh did not feel quite at home in the surroundings due to this BUT no fault of the hosts who were very accommodating.

The staff take very good care of ther customers, are friendly and helpfull and feels like staying with family, the guesthouse has it's own decoration style a nice roof terrace kitchen . some small things in the building could be improved or repaired, but its ok. It is about 10 min walking to the center, supermarkets and eatingplaces are nearby. They didn't came to p...

If you want to stay at a place where you widen your horizon, this is it! The hostel itself is very nice, in the bar you will meet interesting people and in the neighborhood really good restaurants. And if you have time take one of the tours they are offering.

Once again, Urban Hive wow!! After allowing myself and a colleague to book for a few days at this well known establishment we met with hostility from the infamous Ronny!! Are staff members entitled to have personal attitudes, vendettas or allowed to discriminate? Ronny seems to have all of the aforementioned qualities and seems to have absolute power to enforce as and ...

Our stay in South Africa exceeded expectations. We had doubts with the ongoing drought and the desolate-looking park when we arrived, but Kwa Maritane was really wonderful. Even if you can't make the game drives (on which -- yes -- we saw all of the Big 5, plus others), the Hide is a great place to view a number of other animals for longer periods. Great food, beaut...

As South-Africans, let me rather say, people from the Western Cape we don`t explore our own world class venues. I definitely recommend this venue for a second honeymoon or just a breakaway from the kidz, but if you want to take your dear ones with, there is plenty room for them... I had a spacious studio apartment looking over the mall...what a view.

The hotel is situated within the Pilansberg Game Reserve and offers quality accomodation. The location is simply superb, service is to a vey high standard with a top class restaurant and wide selection of wines. The pool area is very nice complete with a Bar which is located immediately adjacent to the pool. Personal or Organised Drives into the Reserve are a...

The ICC EL was a good place to reside in East London. Our stay was great. You have to pay for parking but thats with most hotels around and witin city. The staff was very friendly and hospitable. I was originally staying in Camps Bay at an Airbnb property which was extremely disappointing. In desperation I decided to check out earlier and searched for a hitel room near the stadium so that I was close to the start of the ride. Most hotels were at a peak price in full and then i stumbled across the Hyde hotel. It was a reasonable price and they had availability s...

What can I say for a small hotel wow! Everything was amazing, staff, facilities, location and food was some of the best I have had in a hotel. If you are after value for money and want to be absolutely amazed this place is for you without a doubt. Would stay here over a big facncy hotel any time. As the name says it was Bliss

The hotel is located a few blocks from Bo-Kaap, near a hop on/off bus stop going to Table mountain and the other direction takes you to the waterfront. The staff and facilities were absolutely wonderful. The biggest surprise (we booked the suite) was the 3-level loft with full kitchen/ living room/ dining (level 1), the master bedroom (level 2) with larger closet area ...

The hotel was one of many that my wife and I stayed in during a three week visit to South Africa and is was exceptional. The room, breakfast, swimming and public areas were excellent. The only criticism (but I knew this before I booked)was that it is some 2.5miles from Franschhoek. However it did provide a shuttles into town three times a day. I will stay here agin...

My stay at the Hippo was so nice! After finishing a 19 day overland camping tour of Africa I wanted somewhere really nice to stay. The Hippo certainly did not dissapoint. If I ever come back to Capetown I will definitely stay at the Hoppo again. Thanks.

We had a wonderful stay. The security at the gate had a book to verify that we did book( Amazing Internal control )The atmosphere was best. Breakfast was excellent, first time to see lamb chops in a breakfast well done Coastlands. Staff very friendly. Room service excellent

I didn't get the apartment that I had booked however the one I was given was clean and had everything required. The location is central and within walking distance of shops. I just never realised how noisy the area is throughout the night with it being on the main road and close to the hospital. overall the apartment was neat and clean. Perfect for short stays

Can I say fabulous again...this was by far the best hotel that I have been too and I stay at five star hotels...but the service and grounds were awesome. I think there are 10 rooms so very intimate. Every single employee bent over backwards to make our stay the most enjoyable it could be. It’s very difficult to get such good customer service. From the moment of arrival, you are aware that this is a very special place. Above all, the management and staff. They go beyond any level of service we have experienced in any 5star hotel in the world. Charming, thoughtful and incredibly helpful throughout our stay. The position, high above Camps Bay, provides breath taking views, as well as quiet seclusion. The rooms...

Sensational place to stay in every way. We had the full board; and whilst a little pricey, we were extremely satisfied with our decision and what we received in return. The Staff are the nicest people you will meet and led by lovely Liza (Owner) who can not do enough for you. She also has trained her cooks to deliver her Grandmother's recipes so the food is first cla...

Probably the loveliest guest house we stayed at during our visit to South Africa. Peter and Bradley were amazing hosts and went out of their way to be helpful and ensure we enjoyed our short visit. Amazing experience, beautiful estate, great spa, awesome dinner at Qunu Restaurant and best of all the rooms are just spectacular. I cant fault my time here at this hotel. As with most Hiltons the service was great and promt. Very clean and modern hotel in a convenient location. Food and drinks are very reasonably priced considering this is a 5 star hotel and good value I found, good quality & choice. The pool area is not that big, but it’s very clean without getting sore eyes from too many chemic...

if you do not want to bother reading the following long review, just make sure you get my abbreviated stand on this hotel: outstanding in every respect. if i really want to nitpick, the only thing missing is a fitness center. otherwise, this is indeed a true 5-star hotel, as advertised. the food, the staff, the rooms, the service, the tours and the location score full ...

Undiscovered gem well located in CapeTown. Can walk to the V&A Waterfront., Central downtown area and real grocery store (Pic&Pay) just a few blocks away on Strand.. Spotlessly clean. The single room units are quite commodious and the two room luxury suites are huge. When I mentioned our front-facing room (with a great view of Table Mountain) was noisy from stree...

This is a beautiful oasis and very elegant hotel to come to especially after a long flight. The rooms is large and well decorated and comfortable. The dining facilities and the menu offered is very good. Finally the location is excellent with Table mountain as a backdrop and the harbour shopping offering a quick taste of South African experience.

Magnificent views, beautifully furnished rooms with lovely bathroom. Bathroom includes large jacuzzi bath. For a five star establishment I did not like not being allowed to leave the hotel before my room and minibar was checked, even though a credit card authorisation was taken on check in. But I guess this is South Africa!

The accommodation was first class, spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff friendly and helpful. The game drivers friendly and informative. Everything is very well organised. Because the lodge is in an open space all sorts of animals can wander through, therefore, in the evening when it is dark, you must be escorted to and from your lodge. The food was exce...

Superb value for money, especially when making a last minute booking. Rooms are relatively cheap then, in comparison to booking in advance. Some facilities did not work ie. TV remote, telephone for reception, had to use cellphone (not a big issue, but it didnt work nonetheless) Staff not the best the I have encountered. Not taking proper orders for room service etc....

Hotel was great, I have been here many times. There was a problem , my confirmed booking and voucher was not recognized and the hotel and I was not effectively booked. The hotel was unwilling to budge. So I was left stranded at the lobby for an hour between 22:00 and 23:00, and had to call (using my cellphone) the call centre in US for emergency help. The callcentre e...

Leeu Estates is one of the most lovely places - the physical setting is stunning, the architecture and gardens are immaculate, the staff are excellent and thoughtful, and the overall experience is unparalleled. This was one of our favorite places (if not our favorite) in South Africa.

Overall we were very impressed with this property. We checked in late and we were upgraded as the property was not very busy on the night. :) This was a lovely gesture. Our room was large and well appointed. Dressing gowns awaited us. All the facilities one could think of were available! The dinner was excellent. Really enjoyed my camembert starter. The manageress ...

Upon our arrive staff provided wrong information on availability of restaurant - that was why we stayed there. Bad start. Room was OK but heater didn't work right. Just about everything was just a bit off. For the price point expected much, much better. I would give property low four stars at best. Exception to the above - The Tasting Room was a fabulous experie...
