Great staff, helpful and good value room”

Staff was extremely helpful and assisted me with a number of things including scooter rental and bus ticket

Within walking distance of the 'downtown' area, in a decent location across from a school (so not loud), and the staff is there to answer any questions you have. Everything was acceptable and I can't complain about anything. If you rent a scooter (you should) you'll have access to every part of the city.

Fits the budget but sleep quality so-so”

Budget price, helpful staff, ok location.

Budget price for single room (with own bathroom) is the major draw for me, but sleep quality wasn't exactly good. No major complaints on the thin mattress, but the pillow was too thin (although it was firm, which for me is better than soft fluffy pillows). Very thin walls so easily awoken from road noise and other guests in the corridor.

    Location and budget

Nice place to stay if you are looking for really cheap and strategic place to stay at central location in Penang. Friendly staff. Basic TV channel. Attach bathroom and quite comfortable b bed. Can walk to food stall and night place ard 10 minutes. Worth for money if only for you to sleep and whole day go four Penang tour.

Mattress starting to show signs of aging”

Budget price, helpful staff, location ok.

Room was adequate as in previous stay, except that the mattress was not as firm as before - starting to get lumpy (currently still within tolerable limits, but not by much). Very thin pillow, but foldable in two making it more comfortable. Staff was nice and helpful with info. Wifi worked well. Walls are thin so loud voices and traffic noise can be annoying. Good for budget travellers who are particular about having in-room bathroom.

    Noisy & Basic”

    Friendly Staff

Even at the very minimal level advertised (and Cozy Home makes no inflated claims about luxury)this hotel just met the minimum standard. By far the best thing was the owner and staff, who were always cheerful and helpful. The New World food court supplies good, cheap, food only 200m away (go left from hotel door and left again down Lorong Alley into Jalan Hutton). Other than that: The location (food court excepted) was poor. Just too far up Jalan Argyll. The room had ants - both exploring the room and passing through to others. Repeated sprayings were needed to remove them The wi-fi is exceptionally poor (0.3mbps is average, with an inconsistent signal at best). Not helped by the (domestic) router being located 9ft above the ground between the floors, so resets are an event! The bed was very hard, with a standard blanket issued on a queen sized bed. It was also not particularly stable, with bed boards collapsing at one point. There is no other furniture except for the (1990's) TV on a shelf. In spite of this, the room seemed very cramped. In spite of an electric shower, the shower water barely got above luke warm for the whole stay, and I had to jury rig a clip to hold it in place. The air-con seemed to have a mind of its own - it would sometimes obey the remote, but not always. My over-riding impression at the Cozy Home was the noise. The hotel is clearly remodeled from a small number of flats. This was done poorly, leaving water pipes exposed and audible, thin walls, and other issues. The karaoke bar 2 doors down was clearly audible to 1 or 2am, even though we had a room on the wall furthest from the bar.

good price for a private bathroom, relatevely central location

I needed a simple clean place to stay 2 nights in central location. It fitted well. A bit long walk to the bus stops but acceptable. The owner/manager was very friendly and helpful. The room is very simple (only bed and TV shelf) and ultra-small, but acceptable for overnight sleep with a good aircon and private bathroom.

Quiet Location, Peaceful, Clean and Simple.

The room is small but comfortable for two persons. AirConditioning and Water Heater were in good condition. Location is quiet and peaceful. I would definitely come back here again if I visit Penang for the a good budget price. Food and transportation are withing reach by foot. I had a pleasant stay with zero complaints.

aircon, tv & own bathroom for ok price

Within walking distance from Komtar bus station, provided you don't have heavy luggage. Good for those who enjoy walking and have light luggage. Room is small but sufficient. Walls are thin, can hear next-door guest talking on phone, but was not a loud talker so didn't bother me too much. Some traffic noise but not too bad, and quiet at night.

    Good value

If you need a good clean place to sleep and shower, this is the place, the room is somewhat tiny, but only for sleeping and shower is sufficient. There are only one main staff, and I think he is the owner, his service is next to nothing, always there to help to his best.. The price value is reasonable but if you are looking at real hotel comfort, you better search for a 3 star and up, but not for the same price of course...

this is a new nice hotel a few minutes from the center of georgetown. it's a bit out of the way but that's okay. it's much newer and nicer than other budget places in penang. also, they clean the room with vacuum cleaners between guests. there is a karaoke joint nearby but we managed.

The shower was hot and even towels and soap were provided! We had a great time and slept comfortably, although the mattress was a bit hard. We had free wifi that worked well. Good hotel for small price

We stayed here for 1 night. The hotel is close to the very center of Georgetown and all major sights. Rooms are small but clean and have aircon. There is no restaurant in the hotel and therefore no breakfast, but this is really not a problem since there is a lot of small restaurants and a food court within 10 min walk. Unfortunately, on Saturday these restaurants open only after 10am.
