perfect choice at cradle mountain”

close to the nature, perfect match with the mountain, clean and spacious cottage

if you are tired of the standard provision at regular hotel, highlander cottage is your perfect choice at the beautiful cradle mountain. we are from hong kong and seldom have chances to stay in the mountain. the private cottage surrounded by forest bring us closer to the nature without sacrifcing the comfort we need after a half day hike in the mountain. we especially like the wood fire place and hearty breakfast. very high standard customer service and efficient response in email. love the cottage and will definitely come back again.

Wonderful”

The accom is just a short walk up the road from the visitors centre. The cabins are scattered amonst the trees so everyone has privacy. We had a visit from a possum at sunset. Our only regret is that we only stayed one night. Cradle Mountain and Cradle Mountain Highlanders both deserve 2 nights. Remember to bring your food/groceries as there is no Supermarket down the road. Really a great place to stay.

Very peaceful environment great for meditation. ”

1. Quiet nature. 2. privacy 3. reasonable prices.

We love this place very much. We were visited by a brush tail animal which is very friendly and allow us to patch him. The only problem is the name you put on agoda is "Cradle Mountain Highlanders" and the real name is Cradle Mountain Highlanders cottage which is very confusing with many hotels with similat name. We almost lost the way but we finally found you.

Topnotch Stay”

Staying at Highlanders made our visit to Cradle Mountain very special. The cabin was amazing, so comfortable and well designed, you would think you were in a cabin in Switzerland. Being across the road from the visitor centre for easy access to the shuttle bus and only a 700 metre drive to Devils@Cradle was a bonus. The staff were very professional and we loved being surrounded by wildlife. Congratulations on such a beautiful resort park.

Buttongrass Cottage is a little gem.”

The location, the cosiness of the cottage and the fireplace.

We really enjoyed our stay in the Buttongrass Cottage at Cradle Mountain Highlanders. It was very private, quiet and yet close to everywhere we wanted to be in order to experience Cradle Mountain. We did find the side of the mattress squeaked when getting in and out of bed but this didn't stop us having some well needed R&R and sleeping in. Disappointed that we didn't get to see snow but that just means we will have to go back another time.

We loved our stay at Cradle Mountain Highlanders. Arriving to a burning fire, with views of the mountain was spectacular. The cabin was cosy and warm, the spa was a great touch and the staff were super friendly. We'd love to come back and for a longer time this time, we didn't want to leave!

Clean, well equipped and very cosy cabin perfect for our pre-Overland Track hike. Delicious (massive!) breakfast basket available on request, very helpful and friendly staff. Literally 2 minutes walk to the Cradle Mountain Visitors Centre and an easy 15-20 minute stroll to the Cradle Mountain Bistro&Bar for dinner, with plenty of wombats and pademelons to see en route! Will definitely stay again the next time we’re visiting Cradle Mountain!

Beautiful and peaceful getaway”

Private, comfortable cabin with wood fire

We had an amazing stay at the Highlanders, as the first night on our honeymoon in Tasmania. Definitely recommend as a base for visiting the sites of Cradle Mountain. Cottage has a wood fire, full kitchen, comfortable bed, full bathroom with spa, and great hosts. Highly recommended and we'll be returning in the future. Thanks!

Comfy & Spacious”

Price, Proximity to Cradle Mountain National Park, Space

My wife and I were there on our honeymoon and stated so, and they provided us a bottle of champagne in the fridge!! The cabin was great with a comfortable bed, a living room area, and a spa-bathtub. Word of advice: don't use the wood fire during summer as novel as the idea is... it gets very very hot and you have no way of turning it off. The electric heater and electrically heated bed should suffice! This hotel is probably the cheapest in the area, and since most people drive to cradle mountain, is near enough to the national park. Only two things could be better... the wifi signal gets pretty weak away from the reception area, and there's no food on site. P.S. We plan to go back for our 10th Anniversary! :)

Amazing stay at Cradle Mountain”

Cozy cabin, wildlife at your doorstep, close to Visitor Centre

We truly enjoyed our stay at Cradle Mountain Highlanders. Each of the cabins were private and so close to nature - we saw some wildlife right outside our cabin around dusk! We only stayed there for one night, but had such a good time, we can't wait to be back. :)

Cosy room, close to information centre and buses to all walking tracks, wildlife visits your door

Enjoyed our stay - on arrival at reception we were met by a friendly host., Our room was a single bungalow which was warm and well positioned amongst the natural environment. Before checking in the staff had lit the fire and extra wood was outside our door. The room was clean, and all we needed was to bring our food. It was within easy access to cradle mountain national park and we could choose between driving ourselves or taking the bus fron the nearby information centre. We had nightly visits from the local wildlife which was exciting and intriguing . Overall we felt that the room and it's amenities were comfortable and meet all of our requirements.

The best hotel in my 10 days vacation”

Privacy, Wildlife and Quiet

Stay overnight before walk around Cradle Mountain. Please buy all the raw or cook food from other places before heading to Cradle Mountain because can't find supermarket there. The cottage was superb, with large bathroom and comfortable bed. Nice living hall with heater and kitchen. Few wild animals visited outside our cottage since at night until morning. Quite exciting and so happy because so close to those animals. Too bad they not provide Internet.

Rustic, Cosy, Unique

I loved Highlanders! The staff were friendly and helpful. We actually arrived after the check-in time and the reception actually waited for us with a big smile on his face. I loved that there were wild friends hopping around here and there outside out cabin. The rooms in the cabin were spacious and clean and we adored the fireplace! I would definitely stay here again if I visit cradle mountain again!

Dreamlike cabin in the woods”

The room

PROS: The layout of the cottage is fantastic. Its fireplace and super-comfortable bed AS WELL AS the jacuzzi make this a perfect honeymoon spot. The location is also is plus point as we had the amazing encounter with various animals in our day-to-day stay i.e. wallabies, currowong and I believe a wombat. The breakie pack was also fresh & healthy. The nearby Cradle Mountain Chateau provides excellent Tasmanian meals. If you decide to cook, the nearby Discovery Park sells provisions. Will definitely come back. CONS: No internet access. Although this worked out just fine for us since it was a honeymoon.

We had no mobile phone service (we were on Optus) and the wifi signal didn't quite reach the cabin. But when you're at Cradle Mountain, in a beautiful cabin that had everything we needed (including a fully-equipped kitchen), set in the midst of trees, we didn't miss the connectivity.
