Location/transport - 600m 7 to 8 min walk to the Kyoto-Kawaramachi (京都河原町駅), and 300m, 5 mins walk to Sanjo (三条駅) station Shopping - close to every type you like: upmarket BAL mall building, department store such as Takashimaya, covered shopping arcade (Teramachi, Shinkyogoku), many shops along Kawarmachi-dori), and around 10mins walk to Rokkaku area where there are many stylish, elegant and interesting little shops/cafes. Dining - Needless to say, close to all sorts of causal, mid price or upscale dining (just less than 2 mins walk to the famous Pontocho alleyway (先斗町), full of local Kyoto cuisines, Izakaya, Yakinikiu, etc Hotel itself - Not sure when was it built, but feels like newly opened, elegant and stylish, 100% tidy & clean in all aspects Tourist attraction - walkable distance to GION, Yasaka Shrine (八坂神社), less than 1 min walk to Kamo River (鴨川), which is extremely convenient to me to do very early running every other day during my 10 day stay in this hotel. Service - 100% nothing to complain. Efficient, helpful, friendly.

Exceeded my expectations ”
Impeccable taste in design and functionality. Immaculately clean. Professional and friendly staff. I only have to mention once any requests that I have and they get it. Great service throughout our stay for three days. I wish I had stayed more. Feels like home. The bathroom and toilet functions efficiently. No fog mirror, drainage is excellent and instant hot water. The tub is a delight to use. Daily supplies of Clean pajamas, towels, sheets, slippers and toiletries. Love the Japanese breakfast choices. Restaurant closes at 6 pm so we didn’t have chance to eat dinner there, but tons of restaurants within walking distance. Neighborhood is safe and alive at nighttime. Fifteen minute walk to train station, with shopping all around the area. Best feature is the hotel itself which utilizes high quality building material and very efficient use of lighting. This hotel never skimp on quality. I can’t wait the chance to stay here again.

I booked the corner king, well worth the money, definitely get value for it, room was very spacious, and super clean, loved the hers & his sinks. Location is terrific as well, walking distance to lots of food options and shops. I drove around while in Kyoto so can't comment on ease of location to attractions, but there was lots of parking around the hotel.

Very good location, convenient to travel everywhere in Kyoto. Tons of good restaurants nearby the hotel. Room is very clean and have a really nice bathtub! Definitely will come back next time when I travel Kyoto again!

The location is great, close to major attractions and several bus stations. Walking distance for dining and shopping. The rooms are modern and clean, the staff are very friendly and most of them speak good English. The only drawback is better ventilation in the kitchen area. There are lots of grill smoke in the morning breakfast area. Overall a nice place to stay!

The hotel is beautiful and super clean. The lobby area is very spacious and peaceful. We can take coffee from the machine 6am-midnight. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was super nice and helpful!! The location is excellent, just a couple of minutes to touristy parts. Hotel is located right in between Gion and Kawaramachi areas, and is surrounded by shops, restaurants/cafes/bars, and public transport. Perfect place for your Kyoto trip!!!

If you wish to stay closer to the Gion area, then look no further than Cross Hotel Kyoto! The staff spoke good enough English and were very helpful with handling out request for luggage transfer to our hotel in Tokyo and booking of taxi. The only slight disadvantage of staying in this area is that it is not as straightforward to go back to Kyoto station to catch any main train that you might need to use, but this would apply to other hotels in the same area. This hotel is close to Nishiki and other shopping streets so you can never be bored or go hungry. We love the vibe in this area.

Honestly if I could give this more than 5 stars, I would. Excellent location (especially if you want to be centrally located to all the major areas/sites) for the an affordable price. Wonderful staff (they speak English!), clean hotel, great amenities (they even give you PJs?!). We didn't get to try the breakfast because we didn't opt for it, but we heard amazing things about it and there was always a line in the morning to get in, so you know it's good.

We stayed at the Cross Hotel for 3 nights. A wonderful breakfast buffet was included in our package. The rooms were great, beds comfortable, and shower/bath were above expectations. The hotel was conveniently located in the old part of Kyoto and we could walk everywhere or walk a block to the train. Would definitely recommend!

Pros: Allowed to leave luggage before check-in and after check-out, Great and Friendly Staff, Comfortable Beds, Clean Room, Awesome Location (restaurants, clubs/bars, convenient stores, nearby 24hrs laundromat). The building is appealing inside and out. Cons: Not much selection for a breakfast buffet, but still fulfilling. No laundry room.

Besides having a huge size room for Japan standard, the rooms are very clean and beds are comfy. Front desk staff are very helpful in assisting with bookings and there is no need to worry if you do not speak Japanese. Great location, easy access to food, shopping and temples.

Hotel room was perfect! Very clean, also came with a humidifier. Will defintely consider this chain of hotels in other cities. Highly recommended to stay in this area as well, as there is an abundant of restaurants, cafes, izakayas, and bars.

This is a great hotel and really enjoyed Kyoto. Had breakfast packaged with my stay, worth the add on. Plan this place in advance to get a great rate. Close to Nishiki market. A lot of restaurants in the area, close to a few subway stations to get to tourist sites. (Inari and Bamboo forest) Great hotel to make your way around Kyoto.

Key notes: 1. Location -2 train stations within 5 minutes 2. Comfort - larger than most hotel rooms in Japan. One of the reasons we stay at newer 3 star hotels rather than dated 4 -5 star hotels that cost more offer have smaller rooms. 3. Food and free coffee. Have the Japanese breakfast at least once. 4. I have read many reviews at hotels I was interested to book amd finally I made the decision based on reviews, look of the room, facility, and proximity to tourist attractions. I must say i have made the right decision. Hotel comfort was superb. The bed was very very nice and the window covering had blacked out the room making sleeping in ideal. Bathroom is quite nice we had a separated toilet and shower section which unclustered when 2 people used the bathroom at the same time. Location was amazing close to Starbucks at BAL mall andd many restaurants and malls. To tour around the city was so convenient as we were minutes to subway station. We checked out early on Jan 6th to move to the airport hotel as it was a bit of a way to the Kansai airport. That evening the convierge was very very helpful she walked to the street to get us taxi which was so amazing service. She was a japanese lady working on the 6th around 6ish pm with a western lady. Both were very friendly I must say. We have marked your hotel as our next stay if we return to Kyoto . Keep up the good work.

Cross Kyoto is located near bus stop subway, restuarants and many shopping malls. A good size for a King room. Staff are polite and room is clean. Will definitely stay there again.
