The reception staff were very welcoming and helpful. I did find the security deposit request unusual for a hotel. This was £150.00 on each room. The hotel was very well decorated, the rooms were clean. The restaurant was very good and we’re very flexible with our change of menu. Overall the location is good. The breakfast was disappointing it was not well organised. The food should have been covered as there was a lot of flies around. Staff at the breakfast not that attentive. We also paid extra for the children for breakfast which was fine but the breakfast is not value for money and could be improved massively. Overall it was a good experience and we would go back.

The crazy bear is an original experience but it is really expensive. The room warrants the cost, it is unique and special however the additional surrounding facilities are slightly informal and not the highest standard i.e. reception, food, ambiance etc. That said the hotel person that assisted us was really helpful and kind.

Too expensive for what it is”
If you manage to get a room and a table at the restaurant, be prepared to fight your way in the bar area for a drink. Food is good but overpriced. Rooms are quirky, ideals for romance, if only you can get over the irks.

We attended a party in the grounds. The garden was beautifully lit and the gardens stunningly decorated. The food was great, considering the mass catering required and the entertainment unusual. The room was amazing, velvet wallpaper and on the ceiling, and amazing black and gold wet room and very comfortable bed. Rather difficult to deal with makeup as the lighting was too low, atmospheric I guess. We didn't eat, but did use the bar which is very small, and laid up as a restaurant so no lingering? As a pub / hotel it was unusual, but would have to try it without the big party so get a true feel.

So much style, no substance ”
Very confusing layout. We're here, where is it? Where's reception? The room is down the lane with the signs telling you not to park, in the last house, upstairs, in the roof! What modern hotel room has no power outlets? None. Unless you count the socket over the sink. The sink was a bowl on a slab with a moat as the drain. Empty it by, tipping it up, carry it to the bath or throw the thing out of the window, you decide. Who thought it was OK to supply a bowl only big enough to wash one hand at a time ffs. Oh, and the whole thing is on the roof trusses including the mirror so you have to crane yourself back like a albatross in a mating dance to shave. Never again shall I use crazy bear.

Booked a suite in stadhampton, to be told a few days before our stay that our room had smoke damage so they moved us to Beaconsfield - not only were we downgraded but we didn’t receive a refund of the difference paid, despite asking numerous times.

Unique, luxury suite with a huge bath at the end of the bed which fills from the ceiling! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and would definitely recommend the farm shop too! Staff were friendly and attentive and we will definitely visit again.

Enjoyed our stay but think overrated ”
For the money you pay, you expect the crazy bear stay to be perfect. We were a little bit disappointed with the decor in our room. The bath tap fell off in our hands and the air conditioning didn’t work which left for a very hot, bad nights sleep.

Worth every penny! ”
Staff were so friendly and helpful. The decor is so quirky and cool you have to stay here at least once. Loved it so much we booked our wedding for there!

We stayed at this hotel many years ago and were back this time for a friends birthday party. Decor is now a bit tired and is definitely style over function as the shower flooded the bathroom and my personal pet hate.....no mirror near a plug socket to do your hair!! The welcome letter in the room also says that you can order room service when the restaurant is open but be warned, that does not include breakfast time and they don't make that clear. Our room was also a walk down the lane so our complimentary coffee was stone cold by the time we got it - not happy guests with a Sunday morning hangover!!

Trying too hard but basics not in place”
Over the to baroque but our bathroom , a wet room was unheated and freezing. Everything soaked! To charge phones need to kneel on floor by the bed. View over a side roof. Smokers outside the window talking until nearly 1 am. Bar is lovely, breakfast very good.

With such mixed reviews we were interested to see what the hotel had in store. Lovely staff, great breakfast, pretty bar area and grounds. Decor felt like a seedy nightclub, even though everything was spotlessly clean and beds were comfy, rooms quiet, the free tea and coffee to room was a nice touch. But please, loose the snakeskin velour walls! As an interior designer I would say keep it simple and bright with a touch of quirky. The rooms feel dark and oppressive by day and seeing probably C17th beams painted gold is a shame! If you rectify that you'll have a really beautiful gem of a hotel. We paid £80 a night far a small double and felt it was good value for money but I wouldn't pay more than that.

Spent the night here to celebrate my partners Birthday. Room and facilities where brilliantly (Room was very small) different but that was about it...... we had food in the English restaurant and the food was mediocre as best and the person serving us wasn’t great. I would go back just for the location of where it is and possible stay at the hotel but don’t waste your money on their food!!

Unique venue but at a price”
After hearing mixed reviews of this crazy bear, I was intrigued to stay there. Unfortunately, they only had the smallest room left but it was still very cool...and still very expensive! As we were in Oxford anyway, I’m glad we stayed but I would only do it again for a special occasion. The staff was amazing. Very friendly, professional and helpful. Our waitress was excellent and helped us make a good choice for dinner. All in all, if you’re feeling a bit flush & are going to be in Oxford, it’s the perfect choice.

Very expensive for what was. The lack of a bath wasn't clear from the website. Sleep was somewhat marred by a couple rowing outside from 4 am to 7.30 am. Other than the rather small bar, there was lounge area in which to relax
