brilliant hotel with a hostel feel in the common area. very clean and modern. the rooms are just perfect for a short stay. the staff and management were very friendly and helpful. I left with the room key by mistake and the hotel staff were quite nice and understood the emergency I had to leave in. thanks guys.

Petit hotel”

We stayed in this hotel for 2 days. It was a good experience for us. The rooms are small (as you would expect from this type of hotel), but all the things you need are inside. It is clean and the people working there are very kind. It is placed in a quiet location. The only drawback is the 15 minute walk to the closest metro. I would come back here again.

Much better than I thought”

My first time trying a "hostel" style place. Am very impressed and would definitely stay at Kangaroo Hotel again the next time I'm at Tokyo. Very clean with wonderful amenities. Though shower and all are shared, there are sufficient bathrooms for all to use and really clean. Only thing is that it is a bit of a walk to the JR station.

Great short stay”

A little bit difficult to find on the first time but after that it's all fine. Love the hotel's neighborhood. The staff was very nice and kind. Hotel is clean, very clean. The room was comfy and cosy but not noise proving so it could be loud if your neighbor are not so quiet. There's a minimart nearby which is very convenience. Will be back.

Hotel and room is very nice”

I like it, hotel a bit far from station but convenience as not only subway station but got train station near by too. I check out early to travel to Yokohama by leave luggage at the hotel, when I come back to take luggage staff also allow us to shower before take night bus to Osaka.

Affordable and good to stay!”

Hotel is within 10~15 minutes walk from Minami-Senju Station. Accommodation wise; Room has a small TV, an air-con, refrigerator and has futon for its bed. Room would be considered small for 2 people, but definitely still doable with luggages squeezing at the foot of our beds. Bathrooms are located on the first level and every level has a shared toilet with 2 cubicles, making it convenient. Hotel staffs are very friendly and kind to advise you around the area of Asakusa. Been there for 12 nights and It's also very close to supermarkets and convenience stores as well. Overall it was a great hotel with a very affordable price! 5 stars!

pleasant stay in Tokyo - small but beautiful ”

Well located in a serene area of Asakusa. 10-15 minutes walk from JR (minamisenju station). The room size is very very tiny like most rooms in Tokyo with the room rate which is affordable budget for backpackers like us. The share bathrooms are kept clean all day long and decoration of public facilities is stylish. The staff in charge is still young but very friendly. There are few mini marts located nearby so it is very convenience to get drinks & snacks. We really love the cleanliness and the interior design of this hostel. No complaints at all. Traveled as a couple

Decent but most basic stuff are not included in the package”

It’s a decent hotel with decent facilities. There is just few privacy for couples but overall it’s nice. The shower area is kind of small and I can just imagine if this hotel is fully booked. There surely be a long queue in the shower. There is no exact smoking area but you could smoke outside right in front of the hotel but it’s better to have a portable ashtray with you which is also available at the front desk for ¥110-120. It’s just a little saddening that even the most basic thing like bath towel and toothbrush have a separate charge. :-( From the station, it’s also a walk and it’s hard to find without a navi or google maps.

Good stay”

I like that the first floor was a great place to hangout and the place is always clean. The only downside is for those with luggages, please be warned that you have to carry them while climbing the steep stairs, there is no elevator there hence it is suitable for backpackers. Microwave and hot water is provided on every floor but there is no stove for cooking. Service staff was friendly. Washing machines and dryers are there too for usage (paid).

Was a bit of a letdown.”

The place was nice and all but more suited for young, backpackers not a family. The vicinity was quiet & quaint, a bit of a old local vibe but far from tourist spots. Cleanliness needs to improve especially inside the rooms. Ref was not working, there were no glasses, bowls to use for food. Kitchen/pantry was always locked. Dryer was not working properly. We could have gotten a closer & better rooms for essentially the same price. But all in all, it was a pleasant stay.

Nice Place to Stay”

Clean and comfortable place. The minus is far from the JR station and the staff is not stand by. It is not recommended for those carrying large suitcases because they are small.

Quick stay”

We arrived at 10PM and left at around 5AM, so we didn’t get a chance to interact with staff. They left us instructions on how to get in to the hotel which were very clear and easy. This may not be to your taste, but the rooms are extremely tiny, but nice at the same time. I don’t have much else to say since we weren’t there for too long.

Perfect place to head back to after a day or sightseeing”

Loved this place. Simple room with ever thing you need. Great location to see all of tokyo. Highly recommended for all travelers to see all and ever thing in tokyo. Short walk to the subway and easy access to all major destinations in tokyo

Good place ”

The hotel is minimalist, the decoration is nice but it can be a little cold due to the material. Rooms are small, japanese style, but it is perfectly alright. A bit far from the closest metro station, but it is a nice walk.

I've been telling all my friends to stay here. Though it's a hostel you can choose to keep to yourself and it's very quiet inside too. Kangaroo Hotel is a pretty long walk from JR Asakusa Station (definitely over 20min) and going there at night is really dark and there's no one on the streets. Check in was very fast and convenient and the bed is so comfortable!

If you are a budget traveller and you just want to have a clean room where you can sleep and put your things while roaming in Tokyo Japan this is a perfect place for you. Shared shower and toilet, but very clean nothing to worry about it no need to bring soap, shampoo and conditioner. With super fast WiFi 10mins walk to Minami Senju Station. 1 block away from main road. Theres a lot of grocery where you can buy everything including budget meals. Stayed for 5 days. I will book this again if I will be back in Tokyo Japan again.

You Get What You Pay For.”

Cleaniness is up to standard. Room is only tidied up on every fourth day of stay. Shower rooms and toilets are clean. There is no hotel keeper in the premise and you have to get them in the other hotel which is directly opposite this hotel. Staff are friendly and pleasant and they speak passable English. The hotel is about 700 metres from both train and metro station. The area where the hotel is situated is very quite but with 2 police stations nearby it should be quite safe.

Cool place for a short stay”

We love the concept behind Kangaroo. The architecture is really cool. Lots of concrete. We feel that it is great to stay here for one or two days, as the room is very very small and the toilets and showers can be very busy. We love this place.
