staff very friendly, staff very helpful, breakfast pretty good
The hotel is a good 20 mins walk up steap hill to the mall. The bar was closed for building work when we were there which detracted our view of the hotel a bit. The hotel brought to our room complimentary cakes each evening which was a nice touch. Staff couldn't have been better. Room was good with nice views.

The room was only just warm enough and the dinning room positively cold, it's a bit off putting eating your breakfast in jumpers and coats. Taxi rates exorbitant, we wanted a short trip to the Viceregal Palace and back to the Mall for which they wanted 3,000Rps plus tax. A taxi just outside the gates charged 500Rps, that would have been daylight robbery had we taken it. They did redeem themselves when a pre booked local taxi didn't turn up for our trip to Amritsar by supplying one within ten minutes, obviously at their mark up of 13,000 instead of 10,000, but we were over a barrel. Unfortunately the driver must have been the barman or something as he didn't know the way and had to stop to ask for directions several times. What should have been a six hour journey took seven and a half. Still you have to admire the bloke for dropping everything to put in a fourteen hour day at five minutes notice!

Average stay - not worth value
Average.. Pool was cold. In shimla pool should be heated. I booked this hotel because of pool and kids couldn't even swim because it was so cold. Rooms are not connected to lobby by elevator, you need to take the stairs. That was very unconvinient.
