Staff were very helpful and friendly, bar was nice. The room had broken furniture, not the cleanest and well dated, bathroom wasn’t clean at all! The bed was fairly comfortable though

If you’re looking for a cheap hotel with a nice bar in a picturesque location then this is a good choice. The rooms are basic but comfortable.

Nice hotel; but needs renovation & TLC”
This could be a great hotel, but it's in need of refurb and some TLC. Staff was good and we liked the characterful rooms. It's also nice having a restaurant / bar onsite. I'd suggest it might be worthwhile for them to join up with Best Western. Also, start refurbishing the rooms one by one. Starting with new carpets. It will be worth it, believe me.

Devils Punchbowl Hotel ”
Sadly we were not impressed with this hotel. The hotel is very old fashioned & in desperate need of upgrading. The smell of damp & moth balls was awful & got ingrained in all our clothes & pillows that we took with us. The shower was also not in great working order & therefore showering was difficult. All the above said the reception staff were very friendly but we will not be returning to this hotel in the future. A very disappointing stay. 😔 Lucy

Little Gem”
Stayed for a romantic night away, this place didn’t let us down, nice peaceful and tranquil in an amazing location. The male receptionist/ bat tender and waiter was extremely professional, attentive and friendly. Room cosy and clean. Will be a regular get away for us!

Hotel needs a lot of work”
We chose this hotel for its location, which is fantastic! Otherwise - we were very disappointed. The hotel needs a lot of money spent on it. The first thing I noticed on entering our room was the overwhelming smell of damp, and this was during a very hot and dry week in September. The room was an average size and looked very dated. The window was so dirty on the inside my husband thought it was foggy went he looked out on the first morning. There was a ruffled pelmet above the window which was stuck to the wall with spiders webs. The bathroom had the dirtiest toilet I have ever seen in a hotel. However, the beds were comfortable, which didn't make up for being unable to sleep due to the very bright green emergency light above the door. Breakfast was fresh and hot, and very limited. We paid in advance and regretted it. It was more or less the same price as a premier inn breakfast, but instead of an all you can eat buffet that price was for one of the cooked options on the menu. There was no cereal, and the 'toast' was barely warmed Brown bread (no choice of white or brown) served with the cooked option. There were no jams or marmalade for the toast. This could be a lovely place but it needs some serious money spent on it first. As it is it is overpriced for what you get, especially the breakfast. Oh - and there are no meals available in the evening on Mondays or Tuesdays. I would not stay here again unless it had been upgraded

Stayed here for one night while cycling the King Alfred Way. Food and the staff were good and the location is amazing. The bedroom was small but ok for what I needed. The bathroom was spacious but both rooms need redecorating/modernising. The worst thing is the emergency light when off has extremely bright green LED which lights up the room at night. I had to cover my eyes with a t-shirt in order to get to sleep.

Just a one night stay was fine, it’s a tired location but parts have been refreshed and for the money it’s ok, the staff were great and happily stay again.

Although the hotel is pretty alarming looking on the outside, my room was well furnished, clean and everything worked. Great value for money. Food here is always good too.

Although the bar area is looking nice, the room I was in was dated and not clean. Bathroom is in serious need of refurbishment. Cracked bath panel / rusty towel rail / discoloured grout and silicone. Impossible to be properly clean - not the cleaners' fault that surfaces are poorly maintained. Window has mildew all round - if the room was cleaned properly that would not be there.

Pleasant hotel with good facilities ”
Nice bar good beer and food. Nice rooms and great location close to Devils Punchbowl and easy drive to the sculpture park.

Very welcoming”
All the staff from Reception Restaurant Bar could not have been more friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Great staff”
Comfy room. Friendly and helpful staff. There were areas around the hotel that needed a lick of paint and a general tidy up. And the hotel is certainly dated but it did have a homely feel to it. Everything was perfectly adequate and for the price, you really can't complain.

Decent enough”
Pros: • WiFi is free and pretty good • Not overly costly • Staff accommodate you well. • Fair price for what you get Cons: • Hench green light at the door makes the room awfully bright when trying to sleep. • Was far from the cleanest hotel room I’ve stayed in - the soap cleaners were dirty among other things. • Bed is very firm. • You can hear people walking round/ talking as everything creeks.

Great stay”
Had a great Stayed at the devils bunchbowl hotel. The staff where very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely evening meal in the on sit restaurant and it was lovely food. Bed was comfortable and the room was a good size. Had all the things you would need for a good stay. Lovely fresh fluffy towels, tea and coffee in the room and a hair dryer. We would definitely look at going back.

Set off the main road, a quiet little pub with very quaint rooms-- great food -- nice bar area and outside seating -- the punchbowl is a close walk away with lovely café area and walks -- will go back
