There is a wealth of things to do around the area.
Annupuri: 4 minute drive. Very good for kids learning to ski. It has a ski resort, gondola and chair lifts, restaurants and bars, Yugokorotei Onsen.
Niskeo Train Station: 10 mins drive.
Niseko Village and the Hilton Hotel: 5 mins drive. It has a ski resort, gondola and chair lifts, designer boutiques, restaurants, art and cultural events. Traditional Japanese Machiya architecture. Onsen and Spa, golf course for summer.
Milk Kobo: 5 mins drive. The famous Hokkaido dairy with its ice cream and amazing custard puffs and curio shops - 5 mins drive
Upper and Lower Hirafu: 15 - 20mins drive. The oldest and most crowded resort. All the usual things, plus a wealth of shopping and dining. More noise, crowds, and traffic.
Hanazono: 20 mins drive. Michelin starred restaurants and cafes, ski resort, good facilities for kids.
Kutchan, 25 min drive. All the supermarkets and larger stores (Daiso, Homemac, Electronics stores, and many others) that serve the area. A good place to find interesting restaurants, pachinko parlours (if that's your thing), a train station, and ski runs of its own.
Shiribetsu River: 10 - 15 mins drive. In the summer there is kayaking, canoeing, and other water sports.
Mt. Yotei - 30 mins drive. And many other things that are nearby.
