Clean hotel with very helpful and friendly staff who speak English very well
On the day we reach, the staff who speak fluent English welcome us with the drinks and proceed with checkin. Lobby is clean and comfortable, hotel is easy to find. Even through there's some payment issues as in the staff said they can't get the hotel fees from agoda, the staff explain and solve it patiently. Room is ok BUT is not the same as the photos showed in the website. The staff is helpful and warm as in she and another male staff bring us to make report at police station, when i told her we meet an old Hanoi fruit seller (on roadside, nearby Hang Da Market) who punch us when we refuse to buy her fruits. The staffs keep us updates on the police report on the next day too. Thumbs up to the staffs!

Very average
The hotel was OK and staff were nice but the owner needs to spend some money on it. The shower is one of those rubber hoses from the bathtaps that I remember from the 1970s and there is no shower curtain. It is not designed as a wet bathroom as floor tiles are smooth & slippy. Aircon broke down on the hottest day in 15 years and the "technician" that came to fix it just fiddled with the remote and solved nothing, leaving us to sweat all night (no fan). Breakfast was basic and there was a huge resident rat living in the restaurant water feature (which was a huge bonus according to our young boy, but the wife wasn't as impressed). Wifi was good in the first room but when we were moved due to the AC problem it didn't work at all. Finally they offered an airport taxi service at nearly double the standard rate.

Don't let the pictures deceive you
First off, this place is not 3 stars as advertised, it is 2 stars. You will see this on the plaque outside. Booked two rooms for a friend and myself. Arrived late and our rooms were as expected for the price. Not the cleanest but the biggest problem was a gap in the ceiling wall in both rooms, which creeped us out. The windows wouldnt shut tight, so mosquitos would fly in. The next morning I was asked by staff to switch rooms because of some urgent repairs that had to be made. They switched me to a room on the 2nd floor which was a little better but had a foul smell emanating from the bathroom. But the worst thing was the room next to me literally just started to get torn down by builders as I unpacked my bags. Despite both of us changing rooms, none of them had hot water for showering, strangely only the basins had acceptably warm water. We complained to staff, and there was always a reason. They were nice enough to apologise, but this place simply should not be open for business.

Central Huan Kiem
Placed in the Old Quarter makes this a central hotel. Clean and comfortable with friendly staff and good food.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in!
The bedroom only had one window which opened directly into the communal corridor, therefore no fresh air or natural light. The staff serviced the room and left the window and curtains open with our bags located right below the window, meaning anyone walking by could easily enter our room or simply put their hand in and steal our belonging. The bathroom had a foul smell and the tiles were old and grubby. The bath did not have any drainage so simply drained onto the floor below the bath and into a floor drain in the middle of the floor which was a bit disgusting. The air con basically does not work. The room is humid and left our clothes feeling very damp. At breakfast tea is served in chipped mugs and they tend to forget half your order. Quality of breakfast is very poor. And the top it all off, I returned to my room from breakfast to find one member of staff using MY nail varnish to paint her toenails and another using the toilet. When I complained to the staff on reception they said they would speak to the manager, but that was all I got. No apology, nothing. This hotel is a complete shambles, I discourage anyone from staying here. Frankly it's a horrible, depressing place to stay.

Old and dirty steer clear.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. Bed and bathroom is very dirty, airconditioning does not work, breakfast is horrible. Staff doesn't seem like they want to be there. Enough said.
