Stayed many times. A few irritations this time. Dishwasher flooded kitchen floor. Shower (no screen or curtain) wet the bathroom floor in a big way - recently renovated, no grab rails, tiles are slippery when wet. No mop provided although Chifley reception obliged with extra towels. Very limited kitchen utensils, eg no cutting board, no microwave cooking ware, no serving bowls or platters. No storage containers or measuring jug. We like the closeness to the city and harbour foreshore, and as we stay here in order to spend time with family and friends around the district it is convenient.
Nice room. If it was clean”
I’m well travelled and easily pleased, but my stay here left me feeling dirty. Heaps of space. Nice tiles throughout but they show the dust. Food crumbs and marks on the lounge and walls. Shower is great. Bed was comfy. Need gloves to touch the gross TV remote. I much prefer the Lucky Hotel.
The unit wasn’t really ideal for travelling with kids. There were 5 of us but we were only provided 2 towels, 2 bowls and 2 spoons. The blind cord latch was broken (room 403) which posed a real danger for choking. Everything else was great though.
Great location ”
This is a great location. The apartment itself needs a bit of overhaul. The seating is worn, the towels are thin. Reception staff are unhelpful toward honeysuckle guests compared to chifley guests. Very unhelpful to the point of rudeness regarding problems with the automatic car park entry door.
all in all, really adequate for a business trip. However the pillows were incredibly uncomfortable. The Chifley staff kindly got me a soft one.I would definately recommend replacing hard, terry toweling covered pillows with soft ones. If i had to use these pillows again, i would definately stay some where else.
This place is NOT the size stated in Agoda, nor is it even half the stated size. Reception upon arrival were very rude, stating they were only reception for the apartment and couldn't assist with anything else and the ppl we booked through - Agoda, were very weird. There are no fly screens anywhere, including the balcony door so no fresh air unless you want flies in the day and mossies at night. The toilet seat is broken, as is the dish washer and TV. We were told our room will be cleaned on day 4. Today is day 4 and I was told by the cleaner that we're not on her list. I helped myself to toilet paper and clean towels, and emptied our smelly bins out. The pillows are horrible. This place is a rip off. We have wasted almost a thousand dollars and will never EVER come back. The only nice thing is the pool. Even the city views dont exist.
Average for the price”
The apartment is great in theory. Self contained and had everything we needed. But our room (107) was not like any of the photos. It was dark, really poor ambiance and the floor was dirty from when the aircon got fixed before we arrived as well as other bits of dust and rubbish. The lady at reception was lovely and helped clean it but the apartments just felt poorly managed. The reception is for the Chifley apartments and Honeysuckle just use those staff members. Internet should be free and unlimited- it’s 2019. It’s a shame but we won’t be staying again because we couldn’t see the value in that room.
Stayed in peak season so was acbit pricey but the apartment was pretty good. Great location, apartment had everything you needed and plenty of space for the 3 of us. was a little dusty in places and the rug in the living area was a bit grubby but no worse than any hotel I have stayed in or our own home with a 2 year old. Would stay again if in Newcastle.
ORDINARY AT BEST”
There is no reception available for this hotel. YOu have to call a number to get someone. I arrived at night and car parking was not lit...very hard to find entry to hotel. The room looked tired and VERY dirty. bedside tables had food stains on the glass, the kitchen table had not been cleaned at all and had chocolate syrup on it, the bed pillow had a big ball of green snotty slime on it....eeeewwwwww…. I paid over $200 for one night at this hotel- never again
music festival weekend”
place was good but only 1 bathroom, no ensuite. They charged nearly double because of the music concert and it definitely was not worth that. Regular price would see you happy. 2 great hotels just across the road for dinner and more further down. Something for everyone.
Fantasic customer service with a smile”
Fantastic location, great parking and within walking disntace of the CBD. Special thanks to the beautiful Nicole who immediately made you feel like you were stepping into your own private palace- nothing was too much trouble and it was obvious she was a hit with regulars- what a super star! Definitely my hotel of choice whilst in Newcastle!
Good location, could have been cleaner”
The location of this apartment is great - right near the water and lots of cafes/restaurants. It was very comfortable and a good space. It just needed a good clean - the walls and windows were dirty and when I went to plug in my phone to charge, there was a fingernail behind the dresser.
Beautiful with super helpful staff”
At check-in I was helped by the wonderful Tony over the phone to help me with my problem I had Checking in. After that everything continued to be wonderful. It was sent in a great location and a wonderful restaurants and the beautiful waterside. The room had everything you needed including a very luxurious spa bath which was a great way to end the day. The kitchen has everything you need and the bed was comfortable and we all had a great night sleep. Thank you we will definitely be staying again
First Newcastle Stay”
Great location plenty of restaurants & cafes to choose from. Great walking paths along waterfronts close to shopping and supermarkets. My only issue with the apartment were the stools in the kitchenette not very sturdy for our age group (60 plus) and the furniture on the balcony looked as if it hadn't been cleaned for quite a whole lots of cobwebs sliding glass door very dirty. Overall excellent apartment We will definitely be back
Good value, great location, but accom was nothing exceptional”
Very close to pubs, restaurants. Parking was easy, check-in fantastic. Apartment has a large living space, but bedrooms aren't flash. Beds were very average. Facilities in the apartment were dated, and in slight dis-repair. Overall, I'd stay again, but don't expect anything top shelf, in saying that, price for the apartment was pretty good value.
Perfect spot for a little get away”
The receptionist was very friendly upon arrival. The room was very clean and welcoming, the balcony was great as we could sit and relax while having a drink. The King size bed was very comfortable. Great shower size shower head. Only disappointment was the size of the sink in the bathroom as their was not much space to store toiletries. The hotel is located in a great spot and so close to restaurants and bar. We will defiantly be staying again.
Great Apartments, fantastic location”
Excellent, the staff were so very helpful and friendly. The apartment was so very close to great restaurants. The only problem was the signage,it was not clear that the Honeysuckle Apartments was in the same building as the Chifley. The SMS did say it was in the building but I believe there still should have some sort of sign stating this. Overall it was a great apartment with all that is needed for a very comfortable stay. We had 5 nights and wished we could have stayed longer.
Efficient from staff and also the accommodation ”
I had a best 3 days of my time there although I have to check out and stayed over in Travelodge Newcastle for Thursday and Friday before my weekend trip down at Foster Tun Curry (Elizabeth Beach)But I've already book my Monday accommodation back here again before driving back to Sydney. I just can't get enough of this place and it's facilities and it's smiley staff. Keep it up guy !
Good quality, clean accomodation”
lovely friendly staff. One dissapointment - I was there in August just after I and my exhusband had booked the apartments & I went & viewed the apartments & I asked for our 2 apartments to be located on the same floor preferably next door to each other - the reception staff followed this up for me and I was told that it had all been arranged, and we would be next door to each other. However, we were not even on the same floor & I didn't check when I got there & nor did my husband & by the time we realised we were both already in our rooms & couldnt be bothered complaining. It was important to us, as we were there for our son's wedding & he & the wedding party & other family were with us on the day & it would have been ideal to be next door which is why I went to the trouble of chcking them out & organising the arrangement a month prior.
fantastic location for a relaxing getaway weekend”
Great after we found it!!! We couldn't find Honeysuckle Apartments anywhere. We spent about 1 hour in the rain and wind trying to find Honeysuckle Apartments. After phone calls and asking people we eventually went into the Chifley reception area and asked the staff. We were told that the Honeysuckle Apartments are part of the Chifley building. We had stayed at Chifley earlier this year and the building is clearly named Chifley Apartments. There was no mention of any of this on our booking sheet and the phone contact on the booking would not dial.
