Very helpful and friendly host. Near nishiki market in door steps. Gion is about, 15 minutes walking distance. Bed is comfortable and clean. Have a good rest there.

Noisy Bed”

No more rooms available, so i stay in the mixed dorm... As mentioned in my review titile, Noisy Bed...when others are moving through out the night... glad it was only for 1 night that i am there... location is good though......

A small yet perfect gem”

One of the best hostel I have ever stayed in Japan. It is because of the superb Hostel Owner which was extremely kind and helpful, every single recommendation he gave was on-point. Room was really clean and loved the minimalistic yet efficient design of the hostel. Location is superb, within walking distance to all the central attractions, transport and endless eateries choices. Definitely feeling spoiled staying in Hostel Ebi :) will come back again!

Close to Market”

The hostel is pretty close to the market and close to an airport bus that drops you off and picks you up. There are only two showers so it can get a bit crowded and no extra toiletries. The hostel is closed for cleaning from 11 to 4 so that's a downer. But, if you can handle all of that it's a good value for you money at an excellent location.

Wonderful stay in Kyoto”

Hostel Ebi is our favourite accommodation on our 2 weeks holiday in Japan. Space is cleverly utilized and its cosy atmosphere made us feel at home during our 4 nights stay in Kyoto. It’s super clean and everything looks new. Jiwon, the owner, is very nice and attentive. Its location is very convenient, with many restaurants and Nishiki market within minutes away.

Had an awesome time staying at Hostel Ebi which was strategically located in the heart of Kyoto. Additionally the owner Mr Kim and his assistant Tomoko are always very helpful in extending their assistance to the hostel's guests. As Mr Kim resides in the hostel on most days of the week, he is occasionally able to personally bring his hostel guests for dinner at some nearby eateries in order for them to experience authentic local Japanese food....which is an added bonus for guest staying at Hostel Ebi.

Don’t overthink, just book! ”

My four night stay was wonderful in every way. The beds are very comfortable and the facilities are spotless. The owner is so friendly and helpful, will make great recommendations and creates a peaceful but fun environment in his hostel. There is a lovely common area/kitchen if you want to hangout with other travelers, but the “capsule” bunks are very private if you prefer to be by yourself or need to get to bed early. As with any bunk-style hostel, you are not going to have an easy time sleeping in late due to everyone getting up at different times and shuffling around getting ready, but I found everyone at this hostel to be very respectful of noise levels and privacy. Location is great, very easy to access every part of the city by walking or public transport, and near a plethora of restaurants and convenience shops. Will definitely be back if I am in Kyoto again, thank you Hostel Ebi!

Cozy hostel”

Small and cozy capsule hostel with a friendly and helpful host. Location is convenient but you have to walk through the back alley of a restaurant. The staircase leading to the female dorm is located inside male's dorm which I imagine would be a bit noisy for the guys if the hostel was more full. Clean and comfy common facilities.

Nice Hostel ”

Everything so clean . shower room and toilet enough for people . Shower water pressure excellent ! Have kitchen . You can cook what ever you want . Location very close to Nishiki Market ! You will enjoy to stay in here . Only the bad things was airless in the room . So stuffy when you sleep . And bad smell in the room at night cause so close with the restaurant .

Stayed in Kyoto for 2 nights, and was glad to have picked Ebi. The location itself is quite central, within walking distance to many places, and with easy access to those further off by nearby bus and metro lines. The owner is very friendly, socializing with guests at the hostel and even taking us out to some of his favourite local spots. The beds are also quite spacious and comfortable compared to other similar bunk/capsule style beds, and each comes with a large locker that can be used to store luggage. Additionally, the premise is kept quite clean, with no mold, mildew, smells or other typical problems often found at hostels. The hostel itself is at the top of a multi-use building, with a bar and restaurant below, but thankfully no noise is heard at night so you can get a good night's rest. There are also plenty of food and drink options within 5 minutes walking distance. If I ever return to Kyoto, I will definitely try to stay at Ebi again - no question.

Excellent budget stay”

I like the wooden decoration of hostel which gives a warm and home-like atmosphere. The hostel is clean and tidy, and at a perfect location. I lived in the female dorm which needs to bring your luggage along a long and narrow stairs. This is the only defect of this hostel. Overall, I would recommend backpackers to stay here. And I would definitely stay again if I come to Kyoto again.
