Restaurant service leaves a little to be desired.”
Food was good, Soni on reception was exceptional, nicely presented hotel.
In general terms our stay here was fine. We were mother, daughter and uncle in town for a fact finding visit. We were disappointed by the service in the restaurant and the extortionate prices of the wine. The lower priced wine is not available in the restaurant - only the bar and we were also told that the wine we wanted was out of stock. The Maitre'd asked if he could serve our food and of course we said yes. However, he served one of our party only. When she had nearly finished he served the second in our party and when she had nearly finished he served the final member of our party. In addition, the second to be served received her side of veg when we had all finished eating... This was not acceptable especially when the wait staff tried to clear the finished plates before all in our party had finished eating. We now realise that this seems to be norm in Indian culture but please note that when serving western guests the norm is to wait for all people to finish eating before clearing any plates (unless requested). Clearing before all have finished causes those still eating to rush and therefore not enjoy their meal. We requested the help of management to assist in our fact finding mission who did help though seemed reluctant (or uncomfortable) in doing so. Soni, who works on reception, however, spoke excellent English, was very attentive and assisted us a great deal - she needs a promotion!!! The rooms were very clean and well appointed. The only down side to the rooms were the bobbly sheets on the beds which made them quite uncomfortable.

A almost 1 star hotel for a 4 star charge. Cocroaches in room. Should not recommend to business traveller.

Enjoyed it a lot”
Very clean and meets our American expectations.
The rooms are great, very clean and comfortable. Room service is polite and not too pushy. We were expecting workout facilities from their website (health club?) but there was none. And the pool was drained when we were there (early July).

Well Run & Well Serviced Hotel”
Cleanliness, Room size, meals
everything about the hotel royal cliff was good for us. the rooms were lovely, the meals were great, breakfast was served promptly . one thing they need to do here is provide cold milk for cerals and coffee. they couldn't get that one right but it wasn't a big deal . every time we asked for cold milk we received a full cup rather than have it served in ajug or better still be on tap as the "hot" milk was. there is no need for hot milk in india. isn't it funny how such small things niggle. location for us became an issue as most of our busnmess was at the other end of kanpur - something i was not aware of until we arrived.
