Quiet surroundings during weekends and recess”
Nice to see a bit of the old twenties architecture preserved and this is appreciated by those attending the afternoon tea spectacular. Most rooms are in a purpose built block, mine of a good size but probably not as up to date as some would expect. Free parking at weekends.
I requested for something extra as we are celebrating our anniversary and the staff provided us with complimentary wine and sweet treats. It made our stay more special and memorable and we will be sure to book again when we are in Canberra next time.
Lovely hotel but not in the best location of town”
Overall Hyatt Canberra is a great hotel and lives up to the Hyatt standard. However the hotel location is a little out of the way unless you drive and there are no convenient shops, restaurants within walking distance. The hotel staff are really professional and friendly. Large room, good for family with kids as you can ask for extra bed and per day for Internet up to 4 devices.
Will definitely stay again”
Arrived at the main entrance and used valet parking, a very reasonable $25. Check-in was a breeze. The only odd thing was we had to walk through the afternoon tea area to get to the lifts to our room on the 4th floor (top level, not a tall hotel) Once we got in, it was a nice spacious room with a garden view. The room has everything one needs and as you'd expect at a 5 star hotel. Staff are friendly and helpful. Worth a particular mention is the generously spaced bathroom and comfortable shower and bath, perfect after a day out. Didn't have time to try the breakfast but coffee and the blueberry cheese cake we had for afternoon tea was nice. Everywhere we needed to visit was within 10 mins drive. Will definitely stay here again.
Best Hotel in Local but lower than park Hyatt Standard”
Staffs are warming and friendly. Environment and Atmosphere is luxury and brilliant. Breakfest is good and match its level. However, as a park Hyatt level hotel, pens, bottle waters prepared in the room do not match luxury level compared with St. Regis or other luxury hotel brands in SPG-Marriott. Details decide a lot. The whole is good, but hope them notice about that.
Beautiful hotel and exquisitely maintained
A Grand Hotel in Canberra, outstanding service”
A visit to Canberra is only complete with a stay at this grand hotel.
Professionals and business people”
The Hyatt Canberra has an old world charm. It's a beautiful hotel with friendly and helpful staff. We got a room upgrade (as it was our wedding night) and it was an absolutely perfect experience.Couldn't recommend this hotel highly enough, stylish, classy and beautiful hotel!
Great weekend treat”
'Santa' thought my husband would enjoy the Versailles exhibition, and to top it off, a weekend of indulgence at this lovely historic Canberra hotel. The concierge could not have been more accommodating with the delivery and collection of his hired bicycle. And while he rode up Mt Ainslie I visited the sauna and spa and then lingered over the delicious buffet breakfast. Thanks Santa
Beautifully appointed with welcoming and staff who cannot do enough for you. Delicious food as well. But for me the bathroom. I felt transported to the times xx when art deco was de rigeuer. I am looking forward to staying there again.
Fabulous 90th Birthday”
not me - was my mother-in-law - so we stayed at Hyatt in Canberra and had a great weekend - lovely breakfast, helpful staff and a nice evening in the members bar - mind you it was not cheap - recommended for those who want to spoil their loved ones!
Great Weekend Stay”
Lovely hotel with attentive and courteous staff. The room was large and immaculate with an enormous and beautifully appointed bathroom. Perhaps the most comfortable hotel bed we've ever experienced. Breakfast was good with wide choice, however some hot items were cold.
Pile on the smoked salmon!”
We had originally booked in at suites on Northborne which was a huge mistake from the start. Stayed the first night and was woken up with grinders and jackhammers next door at 5.45am and was so upset we decided to check out as it wasn't worth the risk of ruining the rest of the stay. Decided to book PH as a treat, was so glad we did. We were travelling with a young baby and was conscious of her screaming the place down but as soon as we arrived life became immediately stress free with the arrival of doorman and concierge. Bags were whisked away and our car parked (had to pay $25 but it was so worth not worrying about ticket inspectors etc) and we were warmly welcomed. Asked if we wanted to upgrade to the ambassador lounge access for a mere $60 I immediately said yes. After checking into our comfortable room I oohed and aaghed at the beautifully appointed clean marble bathroom with its heavenly deep bath and rain head shower. John the doorman pointed out a few scuff marks and furniture that needed to be replaced. If I hadn't worked 5 star myself I'd probably would have complained but I'm sure they know all about it. The ambassador lounge was just a treat. Lovely cold continental breakfast with Bircher Meusli and my favourite smoked salmon. Fresh coffee, fruit, pastries - I felt so lucky to be alive to eat so well! All the staff made us feel welcome, even when my husband strolled in with the baby in a sling. Most 5 star establishments don't like babies because of the noise and discomfort to other guests but I suppose we felt so at ease that the baby didn't cry once...
We have stayed at the Hyatt Canberra previously and we were not disappointed this time either. Beautiful hotel and gardens, very close to Canberra City Centre (cab cost approx $10). Did not eat at the Hyatt, as breakfast is very expensive. Suggest walking or cabbing up to New Acton and grabbing brekkie there. Some excellent cafe's and very good value. Overall though, the Hyatt is a great place to stay!
very relaxed, very congenial”
I have stayed here a number of times because it is so pleasant, and very good value for money. The bathroom is especially nice! The hotel has a unique structure/layout and ambience, being the old Hotel Canberra. The buffet breakfast is good. I was attending a conference and it was most pleasant to return to the hotel after each day. Certainly one of my favourite hotels and the only place I would stay in Canberra.
Excellent hotel - attentive staff”
I find this hotel very relaxing to stay at. After a drive from Sydney it is very easy to relax in and is very close to the heart of the city as well as Kingston and Manuka. The hotel is so pretty that the ambience relaxes. There is a tangible feel of quality to the whole hotel.
Close to certain attractions. Good to self-drive”
It was quite good, esepcially the room conditions. Just that food is expensive and it would be better to take the trouble to eat in the city area. Buffet dinner is at AUD 70 per person, while buffet breakfast is at AUD 40. Dinner is still ok, as we had food like lobsters and crabs around. You may want to reconsider the breakfast. With the room charges i am paying, I would have hoped that breakfast is included but no it wasnt. There is no free wifi around. You would need to pay to do so .
Good for relaxation”
The stay was comfortable, though it was not easy to get from the train station to the hotel ( as I did not want to take the taxi there as it was expensive). The room condition is good, everything is clean and tidy. The sad thing is that there is no free wifi for the user, which makes things very inconvenient. ROom charge is not cheap, thus i thought free wifi should be included in the package at least.
