Great family resort. ”
The kids loved the little slide into the pool and the pool itself
Lovely resort styling, Britt was the best staff member I encountered. Inclusion of a hot breakfast would give a better start to the day. Access to a pay as you go coffee machine for a better caffeine top-up as the cafes are a decent walk away. Smoking area needs to be moved as smoke kept coming into our room and hot water system needs checking as it took nearly 2 minutes to get hot water. The pool bar could accommodate barista coffee which would be great. Pool bar staff very pleasant and quick service. Beautiful pool ambience made my stay very enjoyable and the beds, pillows and blankets very comfortable.
Great location ”
Loved our stay at Mantra Portsea. Went with our older girls. Great location 10 minute walk to Main Street for shops and restaurants. Great sushi shop across the road was handy for a quick lunch. Lovely pool with lots of sun lounges. Basic continental breakfast with cereals, croissants, toast, fruit salad etc. lots of lovely cafes in Main Street if you prefer a cooked meal. Two minute walk through beach access gate directly to beautiful beach. Have stayed here before and will stay here again. Friendly staff.
value for money”
have to pay extra to clean up room.
Fantastic place for a holiday ”
We had a 4 night stay at the hotel and were really pleased with the modern room (studio), it’s space and facilities. The pools are amazing, and with the music playing into the afternoon and early evening, it’s really great vibe. The swim up bar is great! Breakfast was ample for a continental one. Coffee was fabulous. They have a pool table and tennis courts and have a walkway to the beach next door. The staff were very helpful considering we changed our plans and requested to add an extra night. You can walk to Macrossan st - we opted to drive. I would highly recommend this hotel as it has so much to offer.
A real treat ”
The staff were super accommodating and friendly. The pool area is fantastic, with late afternoon and evening music creating a great vibe. Our room was located on the ground floor with walking distance access to the pool. A balcony was great and everything you need is catered for in the kitchenette. A full size fridge, and large lounge area were great. The bed was very comfortable - so important as I don’t do well with hard beds. Overall a great accommodation. Breakfast was enough (continental) as invariably I’d eat too much if was a hot buffet! A walkway to the beach is next door. And Main eating strip probably a 15-20 min walk. Some of the facilities include the Pool table, tennis (small cost) spa and multiple pool areas . I’d recommend the studio as the hotel room is lovely but just a room. We preferred having the kitchen facilities and breakfast bar For our 4 night stay. Definitely return, great, modern and extensive facilities .
Excellent location ”
Great location within walking distance to everything you need. Helpful staff, clean comfortable rooms. The pool bar closes at 6.30pm is the only downside.
Thanks to the hotel staff for bottle of wine on my 40th birthday. Had a great stay.
Mouldy smell in our room. ”
Lovely foyer and pools. Lots of corridors. We had a cheap deal and got a room at the back with mouldy smell. No security screen on the sliding door which was the only ventilation. So had to sleep with it shut.
Beautiful Port Douglas Vacation”
The resort was nice. Close to town and good access to beach. The pool was excellent for kids! The only downside is it wasn’t ideal to carry dirty towels to reception for replacements. Bit gross. Breakfast options limited.
Needs updating ”
Needs updating tiolet wasnt working properly tiolet role holder falling off wall no tv in main bedroom
No housekeeping, poor water pressure, we could barely have a proper shower. Some staff were unfriendly. breakfast was actually not too bad, the pools are nice and cocktails cheap. Better off staying in an air bnb for the price we paid
Mantra Portsea was so fabulous, the service was so wonderful, my daughter loved all the pools, and our room was so spacious and clean. Swim up bar was a bonus!
The grounds are just stunning”
Very beautiful grounds and clean rooms. I had mixed experiences with the staff - some seemed eager to help and others acted quite uninterested in being welcoming. The pools are absolutely fabulous. I would come back here again.
Amazing Stay at Portsea with our friends from the uk!”
We stayed here for 2 nights with our friends from the UK and we absolutely loved it!! Can not fault the apartment and could definitely stay a lot longer! The only thing we could fault was that you have to pay for wifi in this day and age is a bit crap but that is such a minor issue.
This hotel is NOT a 4 Star. This is a 3 Star at best. We booked a bedroom suite which had a leaking air con, very dusty floor and furniture, furniture very outdated (think 10 yrs old). But worst of all was the bed. The mattress as of terroble quality due to having no firmness at all and sinks in a lot, and to add insult to injury, the bed was on wheels with no lock with the slightest touch causing the bed to slide down into the living room. The staff were friendly however it’s misleading that the hotel is being presented as a 4 Star which it clearly from our own experience is NOT. If you looking for a cheap, dusty, depressing place to stay for bottom dollar then this is your place, otherwise look elsewhere !
Excellent resort. Really enjoyed the pool and pool bar. Good location from town.
Good but NO FREE INTERNET ”
The room was fine in the location was fine but everybody has free Internet nowadays . Not the Mantra. Very frustrating. Ran out of data on phone and had to go downtown to find some internet. Breakfast was fine. They are a good value but if you factor in internet you lose some Value. Like airlines, good prices sometimes but add ons.
Lovely spot for a couple's away trip ”
Pros: the staff were great! Very polite and friendly. The breakfast was good. Location was wonderful just a short walk to the city centre. The pool was beautiful. We didn't go in since it was too cold ( no heater) but it was well layed out. Cons: no room service. We didn't know there was a hot tub. No information was given about it.
Noisy and overpriced”
This review is based on accommodation at peak season xmas 16. The lounge room was empty and the was a bad echo. The kitchen ok except cook plates were small and in an awkward spot. Bedrooms were good, bathroom good. The worst part of this accommodation was that we were on level 2 and above us there was a family of heavy footers. Kept dropping stuff on the floors which were tile, it was like a marble being rolled along the floor. Complained twice to reception but did not fix the problem. Paying $1850 for 5 nights I felt that it was very over priced. Our room also had the tennis court directly outside the bedroom and lounge room and the buffet was on the other side of the tennis court. The kids pool in front of our balcony. I wouldn't call it a peaceful place to wake up in to say the least. The buffet breakfast was not what I was expecting, bacon and eggs would of been nice. The main pool is way to shallow and the pool bar service was terrible sometimes waiting 1/2 hour to be served. I would never go back to this Mantra, I have found it to best the worst one Ive stayed in so far. Would not recommend this hotel.
