Narita International Airport is located northeast of Tokyo, a full 70 kilometers from the city center. It’s a crucial hub in Japan, handling more than 35 million passengers in a given year. Narita International Airport operates a comprehensive list of flights to major cities across the world. The major carriers are All Nippon Airways and Japan Airlines, but there many primary routes also operated by Delta Air Lines and United Airlines. International flights depart from either terminal, so it’s important to check the itinerary before proceeding to the airport for an outgoing flight.

There are several airport hotels near Narita International Airport. Most of them are immediately west of the terminal buildings, and they include mid-range and luxury options. Airport hotels are especially comfortable for late arrivals and travelers who don’t plan on spending much time in Tokyo. They're also commonly used for long-haul stopovers between Europe and Australia.

For those who do stay near the airport, Narita town has a few notable sites worth visiting. Despite the massive airport on its fringes, the town itself is quaint and relatively quiet. It features a few memorials, a Museum of Aeronautical Science and Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple. Locals say the latter is well over a thousand years old.
