Avoid this hotel at all costs !!!”
This hotel is TOXIC !! They bomb their rooms with a perfumed concoction to cover up molds. fungus and odors, and with no screens on doors and windows, to kill all insects. The smell is overwhelming and settled poisons won't go away. As a health professional I know that when any human breaths these poisons all night long its damaging to one's health. After at least 100 hotel stays in Asia, I've never been to a hotel that was more toxic than the DaKanda. I got an instant headache and nausea. When I asked for my money back it was denied. I had to walk away to find another hotel. If you read this and still book a room at this hotel you'd be foolish. People have died in hotels in Thailand who bomb their rooms with toxins like this.
The room was nice. The resort located near the street market, however it was very far from the Fullmoon party. The beach was quiet and peaceful at night. I was very impressed with their nice staff. They were great and very helpful.
Best resort ever!!!!”
We stayed at Da Kanda for our honeymoon from August 23-26, 2018 and again from August 28-September 1, 2018. We left in between to head farther south on Koh Phangan for the full moon party and planned to go to another island, however our initial stay was so incredible all we wanted to do was go back! The beach was the best we encountered on the entire island (and we scootered around about half of it), the staff, especially Nan and Yu, were the friendliest and most accommodating hosts you could ask for, and the resort ambience was unparalleled. We travelled during a low season and had the beach and entire resort to ourselves much of the time. We spent the days playing cards on the balcony of our beachfront villa, walking the beautiful beach, and swimming in the perfect pool. We truly couldn’t have asked for a more relaxing, beautiful, and memorable honeymoon spot. When we returned the second time Nan and Yu knew we were coming back due to our reservation and made sure we had the BEST villa at the resort. They put sweet smelling flowers and swan towels on our bed and lovingly showed us to our room with huge smiles. It was an unforgettable trip and we will absolutely return. We are so grateful to have chosen this resort and it continues to be the best decision we made while in Thailand.
Beautiful location, underwhelming facilities”
I had the Beach villa which was an incredible location directly on a quiet beach. Room was spacious and comfortable. Restaurant had decent food at reasonable prices considering location. Staff is very friendly. Main complaint is that the facilities are a bit outdated. The TV is an old CRT and the shower must be 10 years old and trickled our warm not hot water. For the price, I’d expect a hot shower. Overall it’s a nice place with a good location.
Nice and comfortble”
Staying here for a week in a standard room, and it was standard to say, but everything you needed, all rooms with a balcony so it was excellent. Great if you are travelling, and an excellent location onto a very beautiful beach. I would recommend staying here if visiting for a week or two, great and quiet location also.
Very nice hotel”
It never happens, but it happened now - this guesthouse looked better in reality then online. No bad things to say about this place, everything is at it should be - the pool, the staff, the free shuttle to the pier, the restaurant (a bit pricy but good quality and VERY nice staff), the rooms,... Recommend!!
We originally stayed for 3 nights but extended another 2 nights, all the staff are amazing that includes the maids, the lads in the bar and the lady behind reception! the 2 rooms we stayed in were clean and comfortable, good food and beer at the beach restaurant/bar area thats is next the clean pool area. A great experience will be back here start of feb for somewhere to kip after the full moon party! would recommend to anyone, enjoy. Jonny and Jamie from the UK. x
one of the best hotels all around”
the food at the restaurant was so good we ate most of our meals there. the staff was as friendly as you get and they were always helpful! the location of the hotel was right on the beach and very close to the main part of the island for shopping and spas. the pool was wonderful to relax at and if i go back to koh phangan i will definitely stay at this resort again!
Gladly to live in again.”
Very near Thong Sala town center, so we could go there for shopping and sure night market for cheap and various nice food. The swimming pool is good, we had a great time there. I have booked three times 10 days in total, that's the best way to explain this is a very good place to live in. We would like to go there again.
Good hotel , Nice beach Can walk from the Pier”
In hotel Motorbike rental fee 250 , But they suggest to walk a bit and you'll got per day nearby. Bike is 100 baht a day. Nice beach , very cool breeze at night time Food is only for Foreigner , No Thai Food The villa is also nice but I stayed inside the building
beautiful banana garden ”
we thoroughly enjoyed our stay except for one thing: the bathroom was so smelly! every time we turned the shower on it stank of sewage. as long as you close the bathroom door after youve finished in the shower, then you should be ok. except this, everything was perfect. lovely garden with banana trees, swimming pool right next to the beach, nice breakfast included in the morning.
Magical Beach, very helpfull and kind staff!”
The area which this hotel is located have no night life attracktions near by, so it is more suitable for a couple travelers especially honey-mooners.. cause the surrounding area and the beach are pure magic of the first thing you imagine when talking about Island vacation!
Basic & run down”
Stayed here for 2 nights. Pre booked which was a shame as we would've moved out after the first night. The room was barely furnished with concrete bedside table & seat. Bathroom was also concrete but not even painted. The shower was pathetically powered and there was water dripping from the bedroom aircon unit into the shower. The pool looked as if it hadn't been cleanes at all & the pool loungers were well outdated and dirty. Do not be fooled by the website photos. They were probably when it first opened. Would not recommend.
rude owners ”
Nice room and roomy bathroom, but don't be fooled its called a resort - it's far from that! Fan is not going to cut it, it is really hot in the room. Internet connection in room 3 wasn't working properly, you had to type the password again and again and if lucky, it worked for 2 minutes - the worst internet connection in one month of traveling in SE Asia. The reservation through agoda was having a little sign the room has A/C, after checking with the most inpolite older couple (owners) we found out it is only a fan room. Shower has a weird current, it took ages to wash the soap off. We wanted to get a ferry+bus combo to Krabi since there was a pricelist in the room. We found out the prices changed from 800 to 900B (without drop-off). We got it for 850 in the first travel agency with drop off at the pier, with no bargaining. Owners are really rude and wouldn't recommend staying there.
Not worth it”
The staff at reception is very poorly trained we were had four rooms and eight guys. They completely messed up the checkin and wasted one hour. They were simply not able to understand what went wrong and who has which keys. Swimming pool was also not good. Rest of the property is ok.
Great Staff, Beach and Bar. The Hotel is near the Pier and in a good location.
Everything you need. Clean Pool is nice Beach is close
Continuation of stay.”
I had stayed here on a rolling holiday to say, and kept staying for a few more and a few more days. Absolutely stunning beach location and relaxed ambiance in the garden area. Ill definitely be back.
We loved Dakanda it is in an area away from the craziness but close enough to access easily. The staff was awesome they helped us with everything and made sure we were enjoying our selves. The restaurant was a little slow but that’s been pretty common in Thailand as a whole. Other than that if my wife are ever down that way again we will be checking into Dakanda.
