small, but comfortable and charming hotel”
Daiwa Roynet Hotel Kyoto-Shijokarasuma is on a wonderful location in the heart of Kyoto. Staff is professional and easy-going. The breakfast is O.K..Taking bus is a smater tip for the tourists.
Ideal Location-Excellent Service-Value for Money”
Pros: - really good location, access to 2 different train lines [5min walk from Exit 5, one line going north south 2 stops from Kyoto stn & other going east (1 stop from gion) west], - 10min walk to Shijo Dori Bus stop (takes you to kinkakuji & other attractions), - 15min walk to Nishiji market - Very helpfull staff. Mo trouble with English, always happy to help. - New hotel so facilities are immaculate. Small rooms from western standards but they're well designed & include alll amenities. Bathroom was a lot larger compared to most airbnb's we stayed in during our trip (wished it's Tokyo branch was a similar price). - Laundry on lvl 5 was great as it allowed us to travel light. We booked via Agoda & was cheaper than booking direct with hotel. - $10 buffet breakfast was good value for money - convenience stores right at the door step.
Nice stay experience in Kyoto”
We stayed for 3 nights and I can tell that we are satisfied. The hotel location is not far from the center of Kyoto. The door is only 30 meters from exit 6 subway (Shijo) or Karasuma Station (Hankyu line to Osaka). Nice base to explore Kyoto. Lawson (minimart) is only 10 meters from hotel. Beds are comfort, bathrooms are cleans. The laundry room is very easy to use. One minus: they should train the female reception staff to smile genuinely. When I checked out, I do not understand how to use the machine (yes, they provide check-out machine). So, I give them the room card directly at reception. One of the female staff replied: " there is English menu on the machine" without smile and right gesture. That's it. The other things is SUPERB!
Above average”
I have stayed at Daiwa Roynet hotel in various location in Japan (Fukuoka, Okinawa, Wakayama), and this is by far the only bad experience I had with this hotel group. Staff were so unfriendly. They wont help make any reservations that is beyond your stay of hotel. This is totally understandable with restaurants (although not even restaurant reservation on the checkout date after checkout time), but for airport limousine as well! They told me I need to make a reservation via phone(Japanese only) or at the Kyoto station in person. and Ms Nakashima just refused to make a call for me and only gave me a phone number to call to. so you got to have a Japanese phone and able to speak Japanese in order to stay here and book a bus to the airport. Ms Nakashima only informed me with the phone number, which I later found out the bus can be booked via internet, and she won't even help to find that out. I don't recommend this hotel to anyone who doesn't speak Japanese.
good retreat”
although it was a bit expensive, the hotel is certainly great place! you can travel easily from and to the hotel by subways. it is located walking distance from Karasuma the main street of Kyoto. with the price, the hotel should provide a simple breakfast. but if you stay in the hotel, the restaurant on the first floor offers 1000 yen all you can eat buffet for breakfast.
Great Location and Nice Accommodation”
We really enjoyed our stay and would make this our base the next time we're in Kyoto. The fifth floor laundry was a life saver and a great place to meet fellow vacationers. Staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. There were plenty of dining options within a short walk and the Shijo subway station was a half block from the front door. We loved exploring the shops on the side streets around the hotel and having easy access to the key attractions of Kyoto.
Good location, worth it for the price! ”
This hotel costs the same as nice airbnb rooms in Kyoto, so we opted to get this option instead. Hotel room size is average for the normal room size of Japanese hotels in good locations. Walking distance from Kyoto's shopping districts and key train stations. Hotel room is well-maintained, clean and comfortable to stay in. Will definitely book here again when i go to Osaka!
Exceptional”
Excellent western-style hotel near Kyoto Station! Clean and modern, with an upscale feel. Nice little touches: complimentary quality green and (seasonal?) ume (plum) tea, bathroom mirror has heated fog-free section, and automated checkout for when you need plenty of time to get to the airport. Would definitely stay again!
2 nights stay at Daiwa Roynet Hote in Kyoto”
The name of the hotel was not familiar to me and did not know what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised to get a larger than usual room, clean with WIFI and everything I needed. Location was good, a few bus stops from Kyoto station and Gion....
Excellent hotel, great location”
Loved the location of the hotel. Walking distance to the main drag of Shijo Dori full of shopping and restaurants including Nishiki market. Short walk to the subway and bus stops to get to anywhere in the city easily. Two stops from the main Kyoto station if you are taking the Shinkansen.
A little pricey but otherwise excellent”
I stayed here for 1 night in March 2018 for a business trip. The facilities were more than adequate, the staff was polite and attentive as is usual in Japan. The location was a bit far from any major stations, but we were picked up by taxi from Kyoto Station so it did not affect us. The stay was uneventful, and although it was perfectly pleasant, it was slightly overpriced in my opinion. I would certainly stay again if cheaper or more optimal locations were not available.
Nice clean and functional hotel for reasonable price in Kyoto”
Not necessarily the most central, but in easy walking distance to some cultural areas, very close to subway for access to further out temples and city centre area and easy to get a taxi here to everywhere we wanted to go. We ended up doing a temple tour loop by taxi from here for the day and price was pretty good. Room was very large for japan, nice shower and bathroom (seperate steam containing glass room for shower) and a few good facilities in the hotel (laundry, ice machine, vending machines, restaurant and late night staff, umbrellas, etc). really quite enjoyed our stay here and sadly had to cut down 4 night stay to 3 after i miscalculated JR rail pass!
整潔, 員工英文流利”
i stayed 4 nights in this hotel. this hotel is near 四条商店街 by walking around 10 mins. the location is good but no elevator for train exit which near hotel. If you have a heavy luggage, i recommend you to take the bus. Good bus network in Kyoto. the bus stop is near hotel. you can also join the membership for this hotel group, thank you!
Great location, comfortable room”
The hotel was easy to find, only 5 mins walk from the Shijo subway and main street (Shijo Dori). The bus stop was just a few steps along the street, it was convenient travelling to Kyoto JR. The Hollywood Twin room we stayed in was spacious, the bathroom was bigger than normal Japanese hotel bathroom with large bathtubs.
Value for money”
Pros: 1) 3mins walk to Shijo station, 5mins walk to Karasuma station. 2) card access into lifts. Safe and secure. 3) staff was helpful Cons: 1) no lift access from the nearest train station exit so we had to lug our luggages up and down the stairs. 2) no concierge service. We were given a cart and we had to put our luggage and the items we requested from the hotel (iron, ironing board, pillows) on the cart and pushed it up ourselves. And we were 2 petite ladies! If you can find a better deal near Karasuma Oike or Karawamachi stations, it may be more convenient with the trains cos we had to change train a couple of times at Karasuma Oike (not Karasuma) during our stay.
Great hotel !”
The hotel room is quite big compared to other hotel in Japan. The bath tub & shower facility and design in the hotel room is perfect. The location is very good that it only take a few minutes walk to metro station and 15-20 minutes walk to most of the tourists spots and shopping mall near the hotel. The only thing is the staff in the reception are not friendly and helpful enough. Overall, I will highly recommend this hotel !
Could be so much better”
This hotel is in a good location - shopping, culture and food all very near by. And the subway next door But it is let down in several ways: the rooms don’t have safes, the TV offers nothing in English (not even CNN). The furnishings and carpet all feel a bit old and in need of replacement. And the biggest issue for me was the highly unreliable wi-fi. It ranged from a download speed of as low as 0.3 in the evening when you might want to watch a movie or Skype someone to a far better 16 at around 10am when you’re either out or about to be. The staff did not help me with this, in fact the manager I spoke to didn’t understand what download speed was or an iPad. I chose this place on the basis that it was a Daisy Roynet and that they claim to provide WiFi... was very disappointed
Exceptional”
Located very near to Shijo Station. Very convenient. Room size is okay. There's still space to walk around even with 2 big luggage bags opened. There's a proper work table. Room is brightly lit and clean. Checking out is easy. There's locker to keep your luggage after checking out. You have to insert 100 yen first and you can get the coin back after you collect your luggage. So it's technically free. Overall we are satisfied with the hotel.
Terrible smell”
This hotel is ok because I got a great deal for the price. The rooms are larger than usual. However there are two issues that for me ruined my experience: 1) The lobby has an awful smoking smell, it feels like you are walking into an ashtray when you arrive to the hotel. The rooms are non smoking but still feel like the smell was odd. 2) The WiFi is awful. You can connect to it, but it goes so slow you cannot check almost any website. Super frustrating.
Pleasant stay”
I love the consistent green tea aroma from lobby to room. Good location but may want to take extra consideration when bringing your children and you are carrying baby stroller as train station is approx 300M walk from hotel The rest is good, room a bit small but its typical Japanese hotel
