Lovely hotel,friendly and professional staff ”
In the beginning I planned to stay only 2 nights but due to the good service and friendly atmosphere at the Lily Pad Inn and also of course the charming Old town of Dali I prolonged my stay with 2 more nights.I recommend warmly the lily Pad Inn for its location, its good service, its friendly and helpful staff who try all the time to make you pleased to be their guest through for exempel commun dinner with other guests for symbolic expenses.The excellent english of the staff which is not usual in China make it easy to get information on different activities and programmes, The Lily Pad Inn gaved me really much value for the modest money I paid.

Comfortable guest house close to Old City”
For the price this guesthouse represents very good value for money. It's walking distance away from the outer walls of the Old City and is in a quiet area. As a bonus my room also had a view of the mountains. The room itself was very large and clean with it's own toilet/shower room. I don't think I requested my own private bathroom so must've been upgraded which was nice. The staff were very friendly and spoke good english and were always willing to help and give advice. Only negative experience I had a was a group of guests playing guitars and singing at the top of their longs directly outside my room until about 11:30pm. Wouldn't have mind usually but was completely shattered having just flown in to China and taken an overnight train to get to Dali! This is a guesthouse/hostel aimed at backpackers and travellers on a budget so if you're expecting a hotel to interenational standards then this probably isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for somewhere comfortable to stay for a few days with friendly staff and guests then I would highly recommened the Dali Lily Pad Inn.

Dali trip with toddlers - can be done!”
We were two families, each with two children under 5, that traveled to Dali together. The staff at the Lily Pad Inn were extremely friendly and took great care of us. They made us feel like guests staying in their home. While some staff did not speak English, those that did were very good. Family rooms were comfortable in size for us. There were no baby cots (but we actually did not ask), but the family rooms had one large bed 180cm and one full/double bed 150cm. Rooms were very clean with classic style furniture, but it would have been nice to have a chair (only one wooden one which served as a table). Bathrooms are large, but the kind where it's a shower room (no separate shower), and no bath tub. Apparently rooms are not cleaned by default, and you must ask if you want it (we learned this at the end). Food was inexpensive and average, but it was nice to have breakfast waiting for us on time (you can arrange night before). Otherwise you have to walk to a different nearby hotel, or into the old town, about 5-10 minutes (15-20 min with little kids). This was a nice little family-style inn complete with local Chinese flavor, but with some of the comforts of home.

Location Clean and Affordable”
The Lily Pad in is a great place to stay. It is very affordable and a very nice and friendly place. The room was very large with a very large bathroom that was located on the second floor. The staff is great and spoke excellent English. While not located within the old city, it is located across the highway. Having said that, the old city entrance is only a 5 minute walk. I actually liked that the property was not within the old city as the old city is very crowded and the hotel is very quiet in a nice location. There are a couple of other guest houses nearby to explore different breakfasts. Lily Pad does have a restaurant which has good food. I would highly recommend this property.

Friendly, and English communication possible”
The deli lily pad guest house is located 5minutes away from the ancient castle. It is quiet at night, and not so far away from the castle. 5minutes from the west gate. Just in case you miss your meal, there's also two restaurant near the road. Amenities are quiet satisfying compared to the amount of money I paid. Atmosphere : beautiful chinese garden and interior. But I didnt talk to them much. Familiy business maybe. It is pretty quiet place, so if you're planning to hang out with new friends , this place is not recommended. Overall, I think it is worth staying. If I d visit dali, yunnan again, i'll revisit this place;

delightful, lovely place”
I had a wonderful time. People were nice, place was clean, and Dali is beautiful. Lots of activities available and if you want to hang out and read you can do that too. Loads of tourists in the city, but not too many out on the trails. I appreciate the whole ambience of a hostel and I'll recommend this place to anyone I know who is visiting Dali. Great opportunity to explore little villages while biking along the lakeside road with very little traffic. Two thumbs up.

Excellent staff & value for money”
We spent 4 nights at the Lily Pad. The staff went above and beyond to make us feel at home, and provided useful advice throughout our stay. Location was also very convenient - 5 min from the beautiful Old Town, right at the bottom of the mountains (bedroom with park view means a nice view of the mountains). The King bed room we stayed in was spacious and cozy - only downside being the lighting (bit dark) and the shower which took a while to get hot shower (though the staff tried to find a solution quickly once we raised the issue). Nonetheless an excellent value for money with great staff, would recommend.

Decent hotel, a 10-min walk from Old Town Dali.”
Our room was a little dark and cold, but it seemed pretty clean and they gave us an electric blanket and rented us a heater for the room. The courtyard has a lot of possibilities, but it was definitely not kept up. The receptionist spoke English, which was helpful to us. They had a hot pot dinner served for all the guests who wanted to join. It was fun and a nice experience to share with everyone. The hotel is close to Old Town Dali and also to the Three Pagodas... both places you'll want to see while staying here.

Hostel price, 5 star hotel service ”
We stayed there for 3 days and we absolutely loved it. The staff were very friendly and trustful, gave us a lot of advices, helped us to arrange our bus. They have tried their best to bring satisfaction to the guest, from delicious breakfast to the room service, we were very amazed by the professionalism they have showed. The rooms were spotless clean and comfy, we loved the pillows. On our last night we even got free update, we really felt like being at home. we would recommend this place to anyone who travels to Inne.

Great location and very sweet staff ”
This guest house is in a great location right across the street from old town. The owners upgraded me to a private room for free and provided towels. The rooms were very comfortable and the owners were more than happy to answer questions about what to do in town. The owners were a bit mothering at times, always checking on you and talking to you, but they were very sweet. I enjoyed doing the family style dinner with everyone.

Nice Chinese family atmosphere”
We stayed for 3 nights at the Lily pad in. The location is close to the old town however you need to cross a highway. The hostel is simply furnished and the beds are very hard. Twice we didn't have water in the evenings (due to local drought period). We really enjoyed living with the family which cares about you and it very genuine. Pros: Chinese family (participate at the dinner!), location, price Cons: Basic rooms, water problem

Good enough for a short budget stay”
Spent a few nights here with 3 other friends in a double bunk bed room with a private bathroom. It was a nice hostel "compound" tucked away from the main street but still conveniently-located and within walking distance from Dali shopping/restaurant area. English-speaking staff was very helpful and friendly. We signed up for the dumpling-making activity. While it was a fun way to get to know the other guests, it took awhile and we wished we could've spent the time going out and exploring. All in all, a good stay.

Although the staff wasn't so effective (check in a bit complicated, difficulty to find the keys of the room..) the place is perfect for the price and the location is super : just outside the old city so it is quiet but you can reach this main area in 3 min walk !

Very nice Hotel...until the water supply ran out”
I was impressed with the location and rooms. They served good pepperoni pizza. The old town was within walking distance. My impression of the hotel was positive until the water supply dried up in the bathroom. Also, the wifi range is limited to the main section of the hotel.
