Great new hoteland amazing location!”
The Damai Puri Resort & Spa was one of the hotel highlights of our Borneo trip! We didn`t expect the nice clean room, very very nice and helpful stuff and this great location for that little price!!! We were there during the week and were almost the only hotel guest. Which means that we were almost alone at the enormous pool and the beach. The hotel is quite new and is built very tasteful. The rooms are not very big but clean. There is no extra but for the price to pay it is really a great deal. The location is just great, the view spectacular to the beach and the Santubong mountain in the back. It is also less than 30 minutes from Kuching.

Beautiful resort in a stunning but remote location”
we arrived at damai puri at 11.15am in the morning having taken an overnight flight from melbourne, australia.we were aware that check in was not until 3pm, however the kind and friendly reception staff invited us to look around the resort for a short while, as our room would be ready at 12 noon (which it was). shortly after we had checked into our room, a refreshing welcome drink was delivered. after settling into our room we ventured to the resort's swimming pool (largest i have ever seen)! taking a couple of shady lounges overlooking the south china sea. being equatorial, the temperature and humidity in sarawak is always very high, however every afternoon saw the arrival of a lovely breeze which made laying in the shade quite pleasant. the resort's two restaurants both offer lovely food delivered by friendly smiling staff. the prawn umai and sarawak luksa dishes in elements restaurant were excellent. we stayed at damai puri for 11 nights and enyoyed our stay thoroughly, however as the resort is about an hour away from the closest city (kuching) my only negative comment is that there are no alternative dining options, just the two resort restaurants. even though these both offered great food as did the pool bar cafe and room service, it would have been good to have other dining options, given our stay was for 11 nights. the staff were quite surprised at the length of our stay, and we were treated very well, most people only stay a maximum of one week at damai puri, which would be due to its remote location. the spa centre offers great massages, and there are also non motorised water sports (kayaking) at the beautiful beach in front of the resort. overall a very friendly relaxing resort with good value for money.

Great venue for retreats”
We stayed at Damai Puri for 4 days and 3 nights. Upon the arrival at the hotel, my husband and I were captivated by surrounding scenaries, the sea and mountains. What a perfect and beautiful place for our retreat! My son also enjoyed himself at the children's pool and we had alot of fun playing together. The location was excellent. It was within walking distance to the cultural village and rainforest walks. The hotel also had shuttle service to Kuching city. Well, we had a good rest and re-charged for more challenges back at work.

Beautiful place to get away and relax”
we really loved our weekend getaway at damai puri. the staff were lovely and the setting/location is beautiful. you have the option of swimming in the pool or the beach, both were great. the spa is a great way to relax and unwind. the hotel did have a nice romantic vibe, but we were there on a singapore public holiday weekend so there were a lot of families with young children, its also a great place to take the whole family but probably better to go at a quieter time of year if you want a coupley-retreat. the rooms are not very sound-proofed either as we could hear children running around in the room next door.

A Surprisingly Relaxing 2 Day Stay at Damai”
We had read reviews that were less than flattering about Damai Puri and when they were unable to arrange a pick up for us because we were arriving at Kuching Airport late at night we were nervous. However it turned out to be a very pleasant 3 nights and 2 days. Arrived late Sunday and left early Wednesday so we were staying during the quiet time and as a result we did not expect everything to be operating. There was still a choice of restaurants and refreshment bar available at times that suited the work roster. When we wanted to shop the staff opened the shop up for us. All of the staff were friendly and very willing to help when asked for things, I am sure that they were pleased to have something to do. We wanted to relax by the pool swim in the sea and maybe walk in the jungle. We were able to do all of this without leaving the Damai Puri and the environs. The room was on ground level and had a great view across the pool and out to sea. We had a relaxing time and really enjoyed ourseves. The resort is looking a little tired and the breakfast buffet is not strongly geared to western palate but there were enough options. For us we loved the location and would return to be beside the sea and jungle in this beautiful spot. We enjoyed the restaurant meals in the evenings because the staff were friendly and the local dishes were tasty. By the way getting a taxi from the airport worked out cheaper and the driver was more thn willing to pick us up for our return. So if you want a relaxed stay in a good clean room and you don't mind a little bit dated, you should give this a go.

Paradise on Earth!”
our stay at damai puri was delightful, so much so that we extended our stay three times, just couldn't leave! comfortable rooms, beautiful ocean views, kind staff, wonderful - and gigantic - infinity pool (one of the largest we've ever seen), easy beach access, proximity to water sports, hiking trails and monkey sitings. two minutes from the cultural village (great traditional dance show) and the wonderful food court at damai sentral with a great mix of budget dining options and wonderful teas and coffee drinks. can't wait to visit again!

Weekend break”
The usual teething issue with room location/arrangements, however the staffs was good to handle it. Room was average and what is good about Damai is the location. Remote and quiet so it was good location to be away from city life. Plenty of sleep. Best to rent a car for the duration of the trip as public transport is not available. The hotel is near by a local food court where you can have breakfast. You can also find a local tour guide office if you plan to climb Mount Santubong. Good seafood restaurant about 20 mins away in a village called Kampung Buntal. Driving to the city for Rooftop seafood is about 30-40 mins, easy drive. Its only about 27 KM away. Overall, the stay was good.

Fantastic hotel with a great beach ”
this must be our 5th stay at damai puri and we would go back to it again and again. the rooms are clean and of a nice size. the adult pool is clean enough and is a good size for lap swimming. the beach is brilliant for playing and swimming. breakfast was very good with a great selection of both western and malaysian food. the staff were friendly and helpful. absolutely no complaints about this hotel except for perhaps having internet or wifi in the rooms would have made it perfect.

Good service at a good price”
A pleasant 45 min drive from Kuching airport brings you to the Damai Puri resort. It is a sizeable and well laid-out resort with plenty of things to do for a 2-night stay. For children, it has an excellent water pool and a pleasant and safe beach. Breakfast buffet was reasonable with a range of choice. The on-site restaurant could have an increased choice to include continental menu. Complementary wifi in and around the lounge area was also a welcome addition.

My family holiday experience ”
I can say Damai Puri Resort and Spa is a great location for a family holiday if you are looking for a quiet getaway. We arrived early on the day we checked in and was immediately upgraded to a suite room. Very kind of Rina (Reception). The rooms are well maintained but I guess the hotel management can look into a thing or two about the general maintenance of the whole resort. My two kids age between 10 and 3, loved the pool very much and the beach. However for both pools, it would be good to maintain cleanliness on a daily basis. While swimming you can see debris of insects and such. Beach are and the area under the cafe should be monitored for cleanliness. High tide brings in the debris to the beach and it may also bring in that damp smell. Room service took a long time (1 hour) to respond and two days to clear our tray from the room. This should be rectified immediately. Breakfast spread should be revised with more choices. Discount vouchers for visitors may encourage guests to try out the restaurants. Damai Puri is about 5 minutes walk to the Sarawak Cultural Village and there is a food outlet at Damai Central. This was good for us. Otherwise, the resort can treasure the friendly staff (mostly locals) and its good location. Maybe a good daily briefing and motivation would encourage them to be more friendler and ever ready to serve Damai Puri Resort and Spa guests to their very best.

i am really satisfied with the service given by their staffs named michelynie & especially faiz from front counter. their staff named faiz (i forgot to ask his full name) willing to fetch my children and i from damai beach to damai puri with his own transport due to no shuttle is around. unlike one staff in damai beach didn't even bother to help find a transport for us.

Pleasant stay”
The sea view from the balcony was amazing. There is a private beach and it was very relaxing to stroll along the beach in the morning when the tide was low. However, there is only one restaurant in the resort, so we had to walk to Damai Central or Damai Beach Resort for different food. The gym and spa were closed during our stay, but we spent a nice and fun morning in the big swimming pool in the resort.

Superb beachfront location with infinity pool”
Damai Puri resort & spa. A little disappointing after paying the same price for immaculate rooms & professional service . Deserving of a 2 star. Rooms at Puri resort are simple and clean but have the typical mouldy smell - it permeated the linen and was coming from the air conditioner (a little concerning). Unfortunately no screens on door so couldn't turn aircon off and have door open (mosquito's). Paid for deluxe seaview with a balcony, on arrival given room with partial seaview and a door that didn't open to balcony. Was moved after stating unhappiness. The resort was almost empty so not sure why we were given partial view room. Staff friendly and obliging however could do with some training in professionalism. No towels or water provided in the gym and the aircon didnt work however they had a good mix of weight/cardio machines & free weights which were new. Glass in foyer needs a good clean. I needed extra pillows due to a bad back and was charged an absurd rate (7AUD - a little excessive considering I can buy a superb seafood dinner for that price). Nice big resort style infinity pool with sunlounges overlooking beach and pool. Food in restaurants reasonably priced. Location great, right on the beach with Santubong behind, cultural village and Damai central which houses several restaurants, bars and cheap food court (meals approx 7MYR) a 3 minute walk away. Free wifi in lobby which is a bonus. Cocktails cheap but really haven't any substance. Save your money and try Escobar at Damai central on sunset instead for your cocktails - same price but with some alcohol in them. Escobar also has free wifi. Looking at the other accommodation options in the area this would have to be the pick, it just needs some minor adjustments & staff training and it could be outstanding.
