Very clean and comfortable, En-suite clean, good hot water pressure with breakfast downstairs. Staff warm and welcoming with good communication via email and text. Close to city centre. Perfect location to Spirit of Tasmania. Highly recommend to others. Will visit again.

Excellent”
We booked fairly last minute, and the owners were brilliant when we got there. The room was clean and cosy, as was the whole property. Our breakfast was included, and was served in the cafe part downstairs. Food was excellent! All round, this was a great cosy little place to stay!

Lovely room and hosts”
The location of the lodge was very close to the port of Spirit of Tasmania with the bluff lighthouse and an impressive restaurant (Mrs Jones), all within a few minutes drive away. There’s also a pub next to the lodge which is convenient if you arrive late at night and need a food fix. The hosts were generous and very friendly. We stayed here twice and enjoyed both our stays at this property.

Great Place”
Exceptionally friendly owners. Even though they had virtually came off a plan after a holiday. (Yes they still deserve a break) they welcomed us with open arms. Didn’t have time to try their restaurant a few blocks down, as were only staying one night. But if we return this way next time. We definitely will. Thanks Sally & Jan(owners) Kind regards from Dennis & Jan (Western Australia)

Dannebrog Lodge was clean, tidy and comfortable. It is a 3.5 star facility in a good location in Devonport and the price with or without breakfast reflects that.

Nice little quaint B&B in the middle of town overlooking the ferry.”
B$B was nice but Devonport does show mch nterest in making the place attractive to tourists. The last tree planting was done by our forefathers. Since th emphasis has been on carparking and rubbishy buildings. Devonport just doesnt get the tourism “boat”. I have been here 5 times on the ferry...one look from the deck at Devonport and you want g anywhere but here...

Casual/Homey Lodge”
We arrived late from the Spirit of Tasmania. From the Melbourne end, it took 2 1/2 hours for the car to get loaded. Jan was all ready to greet us at the Lodge in his usual friendly self. Breakfast (included) was a no fuss affair; you tick what you need the night before & when you want the breakfast. If you need a breakfast earlier than 7 am, Jan will wake up early to serve you. The bed was comfortable and there is a little bar fridge to store your drinks; otherwise you could use Jan's French Door fridge in the kitchen. Coffee was good with the expensive coffee machine Jan purchased. You could have coffee anytime of the day at the Lodge. You could even buy dinner and bring it back to the Lodge to eat. The only setback is the lack of air-conditioning. However, the weather in Devonport is so pleasant, you don't really need an air-con. Jan also owns a restaurant called Dannebrog Cafe which serves very good steak and service was impeccable. It is within walking distance from the Lodge and he works there as well. You can see Jan loved what he is doing. There are other restaurants in and around Devonport; but don't try Little Asia - you will be truly disappointed with what they serve. I ordered Gado Gado (Vegetarian) and it must have been the worst I have ever eaten. The Bento cafe near Target is pretty authentic and good. We travelled (on the recommendation of Jan) to Mansour's Cafe nearby, serving Lebanese food and it was truly good. So was the view. From Devonport Lodge, we drove to Burnie, Stanley, Smithton, Mallawah, Cradle Mountain. We ate at the Cradle Mountain cafe where the girl overcharged us (we added up what we ordered and the cost did not tally) and so we went back to get a refund of $10.90 back! Don't trust them. All in all, a very comfortable and down to earth stay at Dannebrog Lodge.

Relaxing and enjoyable”
I had booked to stay in Room 1 and arrived to find that this room had been given to someone else. The manager immediately offered to include complimentary dinner for two from the Dannebrog Restaurant as compensation for not getting room 1, which we ate in the breakfast room as the Spirit of Tasmania went past outside. The room that we were given was clean and spacious and we enjoyed the breakfast the following morning.
