Great service and quality, a pleasant staff, excellent location, excellent dining room, excellent service
Good choice ”
Great location in the beach in Chaweng town . Pros - decent room, although dated . Great staff, good pool and service Cons - limited pool side seating . Resort is a little run down . No gym . However great option
This is a quite spot quite close to, but adequately separated from the rough and tumble of the late night Samui night crowd . We joined that crowd by foot up the beach. It is an old thai style hotel which means it is a bit dark inside. It scared my thai gf at first I think but we got very comfortable there . It has been kept up well and the staff would clean the room I believe up to 11:30 at night. The food was good at the restaurant and the pool bar and shaded spots around the pool all help you adjust your mood to the new day. The small beach direct off the hotel is private , the water was cleared every night by the tide change. The whole place was kind of special.
Nice hotel in Chaweng beach.”
Room is very clean but interia design is suitable for a couple honeymoon actually. Beach is very clean but there is no parking area in the hotel. You have to park a car beside the road in front of the hotel.
When I first walked in room, the ac took a while . The next day the manager was walking around breakfast and asked how things were and I mentioned ac. He had his people on it immediately. Things only got better. Tremendous staff including manager make this hotel work. Nice big rooms. Don’t expect great view from the rooms because of upcoming construction. The pool and beach area were very nice and the breakfast was great. This hotel is a little older but they do a great job!
Amari is much better”
Old, clean but dowdy with small pool, noisy construction next door, poor beach after massive storm in Jan 2019. Much better value further borth where beach is intact pools are more inviting and the Getmans don’t hog the sunlounges. Needs massive make over and new towels desperately. Try Amari or Sala instead. Location of Dara not good while beach is missing and while construction is going on next door. Maybe by 2020 or 2021 it might be worth reconsidering. Staff try hard but needs a complete make over to complete with the newer places along the beach further north.
Friendly staff ”
We stayed 8 nights and unfortunately the weather was against us so had many raining days. Nothing can be done about the rain but the deluxe room is not pleasant enough for lounging around in all day. Having said that though there is nothing wrong with the room just there is limited choices to entertain you in the room ,TV channels are very lacking but the WIFI is amazingly fast so can't complain about that. The resort is looking very tired and could do with a bit of a spruce up but the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful. As the property is very narrow it doesn't have a big beach frontage , enough for about 8 beach lounges and limited space around the pool so lounging by the pool is just about not an option and beach only works if the tide is out , other wise water laps at the bottom of the lounge chairs. The breakfast menu is pretty static with about a 3 day turn around but still plenty of it and staff never fail to refill your tea and coffee. We asked for a late check out '2 pm' on our our last day and the staff kindly accommodated this at no charge which was greatly appreciated. Location is perfect close enough to the hustle and bustle but far enough away from the parties so you can have uninterrupted sleep. Plenty of shopping and places to eat within a minutes walk. Lots of stairs which is a buggar if you have bad knees but if you are fit not a problem . Bathroom floor was an accident waiting to happen 4 different levels and shiny tiles in wet sections so had to be vigilant with this and leave a light on for late night visits. Would I recommend this place , most definitely , just small hiccups to be aware of , in fine weather it would be a great location rooms are spacious just not made for raining weather. Would we stay again yes but next time would go for a one bedroom unit.
Great location and great value at the discounted Agoda rate I paid”
The hotel is a great alternative to the pricier Oriental and Shangri-la nearby. Although not as luxurious as those two, it is luxurious enough and has its own FREE shuttle boat (every 30 minutes) to the nearby Saphin Taksin skytrain stop. The breakfast buffet was 1st class, as was the room.
Chilling in Samui”
A nice hotel and the room comfort and size was good. The view was nothing to write home about as either side of this hotel was waste land and apartments. Decent value for money and no issues with the 4 star rating.
Good Hotel for the Price”
The room was great, amazing wifi (fastest in Thailand I have had), hot water and great water pressure. Restaurant was only so so, better food a short distance away. A couple bugs in the room because there were cracks under the door, but somewhat expected in Thailand.
Relatively upscale in the middle of party central”
This place is not for light sleepers due to the area. We could hear house music in the room at 4am every night. It is close to the airport so you get jay noise too. However that's true of all places in chaweng. For quiet, go further south. If you don't mind the noise the Dara villas are nice.
Good location, excellent services, romantic stay”
Our stay was excellent experience. The staffs are friendly and very service-mind. Location is in the middle of Chaveng beach which is very convenient to find good food and nightlife. The pool is connected to beach which makes it a very nice view to relax in a pool. The best thing is our romantic dinning experience on the beach where the table was well arranged for us. The staffs, the atmosphere and the foods made it a wonderful anniversary for us. Will definitely go back again!! and 10/10 for staff services
This is as good as it gets in Thailand. Location absolutely spot on, 2 minutes from the action but very quiet. Nice ethnic feel to the hotel, rooms very nice. Staff spoke surprisingly good English and were very efficient. Can walk down from the very nice and clean pool onto the beach. Difficult to think of negatives apart from maybe the cocktails at the pool bar, which are not overpriced but the bar staff put hardly any alcohol in at all so in that sense they are overpriced.
Great hotel, great location”
Whenever I travel to Samui, I always stay in Dara Samui. Decdntly priced, and feels very luxurious. Good wifi, good room service, friendly staff, and right next to the beach. I will stay here again next time I visit Samui.
Great as always”
Dara Samui is always a great stay. Perfect for the nightlife in Chaweng, just a 5 minute walk to main area of restaurants and bars. Room service was good, food was nice. Will stay hre again next time I visit Samui.
I stayed in the villa closet to the swimming pool and beach. Great to chill the bed chairs and enjoy chewang beach. I hired a kayak with girlfriend and went around a couple of private islands of the beach. Nightlife is very close ark bar being one. So many restaurants shopping and bars also near. Outside showers and inside bath. Got used to it as the water pressure was good for hot showers
Excellent location, nice pool, nice beach”
I stayed here for 5 nights and the location was awesome (close to everything in Chaweng). The hotel rooms were spacious, the pool was nice, the beach was great as well. A couple of things I disliked was (1.) privacy into the bathroom - there is a sliding glass window that separates the living area and the bathroom, it's frosted in some parts, so there is no privacy (I was traveling with a friend). (2.) Construction, they have demolished the next door property and in the early mornings you can hear all the construction noise (it didn't matter during they day, we were on the beach or walking around, just in the morning). All in all, I enjoyed my stay here.
Best Location in Chawang”
Pros: - Room is large and clean. - Breakfast is ok. - Large pool. - helpful staffs Cons: - Room decoration is not stylish. - Loud music at pool from 10:30am.. I think most people want to enjoy quiet sun and pool in the morning. - Free drink or late check-out if you give a +ve comments in tripadvisor on-site. - Fair price.
nice stay and convenient location to nearby shops”
It was slightly above average but the setback was that there was no wifi service in the rooms and we had to walk quite a distance to the lobby to enjoy the wifi. the second setback was the room numbers were a bit confusing and no lift service. but the decor of the outdoor and pool was very nice. it is also conveniently located to nearby nightlife and shops.
Great location ”
This hotel is located right in the center of the busiest and most happening road in Samui Island, Chaweng. All the staffs here are English speaking and friendly. The room we stayed in is very spacious with a separate bath area and toilet. A lot to choose from the breakfast menu. The hotel located right on the beach. I can't find any dislike about this hotel except there are a lot of mosquitos which I think you can solve that problem easily. Highly recommended.
