Datong District hotels & places to stay

We have rented 3 family rooms. The family room is so so so big... there are 2 beds with extra ordinary size, i think it is bigger than a king size bed. The bathroom is big as well with bath tub and japanese toilet bowl with warn toilet seat and push button biddet. The ameneties are replenished everyday. The restaurant for breakfast is impressive and very clean. The menu is ok, probably not as fancy as 5 star hotels, but they change some of the menu everyday. They probably check who the guest are as they serve bacon and fries aside from traditional taiwanese cuisine. The MRT is just 5-10 minutes walk, depending in how slow you are. It was a nice walk. The MRT is underpass. Better ask the receptionist so you will not get lost since there is no big sign. Probably small thing to improve: cleaner carpet due to stains, but anyways they provide slippers, and not all towels are very white but they give new towels everyday... and lastly, 1 english news channel only. But anyways, you are there for vacation and see taiwan. The staff are nice... opppssss before i forget, ensure that you return all the keys, you will be charged 200ntd for each if you lost it., and we lost 1.In addition, you can contact the hotel for hotel pick-up and drop-off. If i go back to taiwan, i will stay here again.very good hotel for reasonavle price with carrefour (supermarket) just 2 mins walk and starbucks outside.

This hotel is definitely the best I’ve stayed in Taipei. It’s located 2-3 minutes away from the metro and to my surprise it’s also the location where the airport rail is. Hence it was very convenient to get around without the need to keep transferring metro lines lugging our luggages. We could get everywhere easily as it’s centrally located. Staffs were pleasant and check in was a beeeze too. Facilities were simple and well maintained. The pictures are true on Agoda. This got to be the best location & budget for every traveller.

We really enjoyed our stay at City Suites. We were upgraded from a standard room to one with a lovely outdoor terrace overlooking the local neighbourhood, which would be great for a few-day stay (unfortunately we were only staying one night!). Taipei can be a very noisy city and though this hotel was in a convenient location for tourism (historical Datong District) and reasonably close (15 minutes walk) to Taipei Main Station as well, it was very peaceful and quiet. Decor was comfortable and stylish; staff were helpful and polite; breakfast had a focus on Asian food. Majority of the other visitors were Japanese, so Japanese and Mandarin speakers well catered for. By far one of the nicest places we have stayed in Taiwan, where hotel accommodation can be very overpriced and hard to find. Will definitely go back. Recommend upgrading to a superior room (ask for a terrace).

The hotel location is not perfect, takes around 6-8 mins walking to 中山 subway station. The hotel offers shuttle bus to 中山，台北車站、or 西門 subway station every hour till 7pm. Also, the hotel is near 迪化街 which is excellent for shopping snack and local stuff at excellent deals, compare to other tourist areas. Although the hotel is old, but the rooms have been renovated and clean enough.. I would recommend this hotel to others if they offer special promotion!

The hotel was accessible to a bus station & MRT station. Just about 5-10 minutes walk. The free breakfast only serves loaf slices, buns, coffee and teas. It is also near Ningxia night market, about 5 minutes walk; also neighboring 7-eleven, Family Mart, Starbucks, and a coffee shop. If you have a local sim, you can register it and use a U-bike which is just stationed outside the hotel.

Stayed here for two nights, supposedly just for a night. The staff was really helpful to arrange me one bed for two night since my booking for two nights is two different separate booking. The hostel is just a few minutes walk from the Airport MRT. So if you are coming to other parts of Taiwan via HSR or TRA, just look for the Airport MRT and exit the Y18. From there, just go straight and turn left after the police station. To be honest, I thought that the hostel is nearer to Taipei Main Station, but it's actually nearer Beimen Station. From the hostel also, you can walk yourself going to Ximending. Their door closes at 11PM, so be sure to arrive hostel before that. Also, the place is a refurbished office space, I think. Their lobby is at 2nd floor. Breakfast also was great with coffee, bread and jams, and sometimes nuggets and fries. I must say their bed is really comfy as compared to other dorm beds I have slept in, so five star for that.

The hotel is just a few footsteps away from the Ninghsia Night Market and close to the historic Dadaocheng district replete with tea houses, cafes, and old townhouses converted into spice shops and trendy boutiques. Overall, a great experience, staff were very welcoming, and the breakfast was decent. However, the toilet seat had urine stain when we checked in, the door was not sufficiently soundproof (chatter in the hallway was audible) and the floor was a bit worn out.

We had a good stay in this establishment. Pros: - Location - About 10mins walk to Zhongshan MRT, <= 5 minutes walk to the famous Ningxia Night Market. - Toilet - Automatic and high-tech Japanese toilet with seat warmer and warm water function - Bathtub with Jacuzzi - Good water pressure and one could soak in the bathtub. - Washing Machine - This is a life-saver because it definitely trimmed off the weight of our luggage for NOT bringing extra clothes. Detergent powder smells good too, and it definitely did not smell cheap. I am wondering what is the brand, Ariel? - Elevator - Although this is a standard for modern hotels, I still need to highlight. - Quiet-to-no-noise nights - Door is heavy but it is so for a good purpose, sound insulation. - Airport Transfer - Staff helped to arrange an airport transfer to Taoyuan Airport for our early morning flight. Cons: Nothing much but if I have to, these are my nitpicks: Bedroom space could be bigger and staffs could be friendlier and warmer.

Rooms are very clean. They change sheets and give you water/toiletries/slippers everyday. The hotel is really close to a day market (just one block) with a lot of shops nearby. Make sure you explore the area for some good eats. The hotel is also just a 15min walk to Ningxia night market. It's not as huge as Raohe or Shilin but there are also good restaurants near the area. The best part is that the staff is REALLY NICE! They speak english too! Would book here again next year!

I booked this hotel for its location (opening of Tipsy House Beer Botique down the block) and price. Upon arriving at the address, I was a bit hesitant as the first floor seemed a little dodgy but the signs pointing to the hotel were very clear and as soon as we stepped out of the elevator, it was as if we were transported to a different world. Wonderful, well-decorated, great ambiance are a few of things that sprung to mind. It was a very quick and efficient check in, and a very pleasant and clean room! I will definitely return!

This is the best option for someone who puts the great priority on the location. The hotel is between Zhongshan station and Taipei station. It takes 5,6 minutes to each station on foot. The room itself is cramped and dated, I have to say. However, considering the price and location, this would be a good deal. One thing about my room is that TV doesn’t work. No extra amenities such as body soap, shampoo or sort of stuff. So you’ll need to bring them.

We arrived in the wee hours of the morning, and not only did Wilson wait for us to arrive, DG Hotel also let us check in early free of charge. They also upgraded our room for our first night! While they already had been open for more than a year compared to when I last went, everything still felt brand new, well maintained and taken care of. They also added English instructions for the vent and AC (something I took note of during my first stay). A lot of places to eat in has also opened nearby, so you can take your pick. The location is quite nice because it's still near the main attractions but is in a quiet neighborhood. Audrey helped us book a tour at the last minute, and I wish I can give more than 5 stars for the staff of this hotel (Audrey, Wilson, Summer, Cindy, guy with glasses). :)

Some of the quibbles in the reviews are right and make sense. Perhaps for big groups and those with heavy luggage, Jian Shan is not the most convenient choice. However, if you're solo or a small group that's not overly fickle, JIAN SHAN IS THE BEST. My room was, yes, small... But it was clean, the design was unique, the bed was comfortable, even the bathroom was extraordinary! It is a very practical choice for me looking for value for money and at the same time experience. The hotel has a very unique character that makes it a travel highlight by itself. And yes, this four(?)-story hotel does not have elevators, but the walk upstairs is a pretty good work out, LOL! If you don't have a lot of heavy luggage, then it's not a big trouble. In conclusion, I WOULD DEFINITELY STAY HERE AGAIN NEXT TIME.

The room was just like in the picture. It was not too big but spacious enough for me, my mom, & my well-built brother. Even with the extra bed (futon) installed, we still had space to perform Muslim prayer. The bathroom was clean and had complete amenities. It had modern bidet (yes, the one with buttons!) too. I was happy with that since finding hotel that its bathroom had bidet or water for cleaning was quite a bit of a homework. As a Muslim, it was important for me. Anyway, I would like to suggest the hotel to install shower curtain because the shower was so powerful. The staffs were very friendly & helpful. One of them spoke decent English so we could communicate without problem. They also gave us 3 bottles of mineral water on our first day & gave 3 additional bottles on our second day.

Located near Zhongshan station, the place is convenient; however, it is in quite a quiet area , so it may not recommended for people who want to enjoy the liveliness of Taipei. The staffs here are really friendly and willingly want to help you with anything. The room we booked has no mirror on the dressing table, so ladies might find it inconvenient to put on make up.

the main reason i booked this because of its strategic location. few steps from exit 1 of Green/red line Zhongshan station. hi-life, watsons, underground mall, banks ningxia market are within reach. as to facilities, the fridge was working, aircon doing well with fan if you want colder, hair dryer, complete toiletries from shampoo to condom :)... tea/coffee facilities. they even allowed us to leave our luggges before and after our stay. the only con we saw was the fact the personnel in the reception had hard time communicating in english, except for the Mr. but they would try their best to help you. but overall it was a great stay.

The place was great. Its very near the train station so you can optimized your stay in the stay. The facility was very clean proper and the staff were very verse in English language. They also offer affiliate tours that is why where we were to go the other hard to reach destination. Just dont expect a heavy breakfast as they dont serve rice or noodles. However, the breakfast offered to us were very good specially the spread. They only served variety of bread with 4 types of spreads for you to choose from. The coffee was great as well. I love that they have areas for laundry also. Lastly, best part of my stay was their rooftop smoking area. You can basically have the best view of the area and the train station. I would definitely book again on this hostel when go back to Taipei.

I really enjoyed If Inn. The staff was so helpful and friendly, it was almost too much for someone who isn't used to telling people what I'm planning to do that day or what I've already done that day. The room designs and decor were fun. My only complaint was that the door of the room we were in was tricky to lock. You had to pull it hard so the lock would catch, and for the first couple of times we'd inadvertently leave the door unlocked. The staff did tell us what we needed to do when they showed us the room, but giving the door an extra shove wasn't exactly habitual for us. Breakfast was pretty good. The woman making and staffing during breakfast was amazingly cheerful and friendly and even asked us what we liked to eat best. She had our preferences ready for us the next morning! The internet was strong in our room, which was quite a treat compared to our previous hotels. I'd definitely stay here again.

Comfortable simple hostel. It was perfect for what I needed. They don't provide towels or toiletries, but the price is so good, and I'd rather have a clean place to sleep and shower, so bringing my own towel is so not a big deal. There is handsoap and toilet paper of course. I stayed in a 4 bed all female room. There is AC in the room. The linens are very clean and comfortable. The lockers are huge and can definitely store a large suitcase (I just brought a carry on size and had LOTS of space left over), and there's a hanging rod to hang your clothes inside the locker. And there's a shoe shelf outside the room to store your shoes as well. They have a newer standard water dispenser that has ice cold warm and hot water. It's a comfortable place to sleep that was close to the red line which was exactly what I needed

I had a 4D3N stay at Enjoy Hotel. Hotel staff is polite and helpful and check-in is speedy. The Zhongshan district is a less busy district so that tourist could experience the down-to-earth Taiwanese living style. There are many relaxing cafes near the Zhongshan train station and the food is delicious. Small restaurants and breakfast places are plentiful around the hotel so that tourists could experience local Taiwan food easily. There are also department stores and small boutiques near the train station. Surprisingly there are many salons in the district and I had a haircut in one of them on a Saturday at 11am, of which I am very satisfied and it made my trip memorable.

This trip was my second visit to Taibei. First time, i booked the hotel by my friend's recommendation, not using Agoda. This time, i booked the hotel via Agoda. The hotel was not far from the Zhongshan station exit no.5 (as far as i remember), took 10 minutes by walk. the morning shift staff was really fluent in english and had no difficulty communicating with her (helped me a lot for finding locations of various places, fare information and so on) Although it is winter, the temperature reached 17 degrees celsius. Therefore, i sweated a lot and mosquitoes tried to sting me (itchy). I had hard time falling asleep in the midnight because of mosquitoes. When i asked for sterilization, they immediately did it. (After sterlization, i could fall asleep easily) The hotel staff, managers they are all kind and eager to help others :) Hope to see you guys again and happy new year! ^^

Modern and comfortable room in a fairly good location. It is near to one of the nightmarkets and not far from the metro station. They were unable to change my booking despite having contacted them prior to checking in which was a little irritating. The main issue with this hotel was the noise. The other guests/staff were not considerate of guests sleeping. We were continuously woken up in the night because of this ( we were in room 1 right by the door).
