Four star Hotel with 5 star service!!!”
My husband and I have stayed at this hotel many times during our visits to Thailand over a period of 12 years. Whenever we plan to stay in Bangkok we always try to have a few days here. We have generally always booked a room in the separate Wing of the hotel. Often , right from when we first used this hotel, we have been upgraded free of charge to a more expensive room. Therefore I do not think it has anything to do with how many times we have stayed there. We like the hotel as although being handy for many places it is also in a relatively quiet area of Bangkok, (or as quiet as you are likely to get in Bangkok). It is more of a business hotel than a tourist hotel. Each of the rooms are individual. We have always had immaculately clean and well presented rooms regardless of whether they have been in the main building or the annexe. We generally book bed and breakfast, (as we like to try different laces to eat in the evenings). The breakfast is lovely and if you have a good appetite at breakfast there is plenty of variety both Thai and European. As for the staff, well they are wonderful. They are always very well turned out. They are courteous and polite and know their jobs inside out. Nothing is too much trouble. On our most recent visit we caught an airport shuttle bus from the Don Meung airport to the terminal at Mo Chit. As we left the bus my husband lifted his case off and left his holdall on the floor of the bus as it drove off. It was when we transferred our luggage to a taxi that I noticed the missing holdall. Due to Bangkok traffic it took over an hour to get to the Davis hotel from the bus terminal. We reported the loss to the reception staff uon our arrival to see if they could ring the bus station on our behalf. The concierge ' Daniel' was straight on to it. He rang the airport and the bus conductor had noticed the bag and left it at the bus station at the airport whereupon the hotel chauffeur was sent to collect it. By the time we had un -packed and s
Excellent Value Boutique Hotel”
The Davis is a true gem in a sea of generally overpriced competition. The Davis provides spacious rooms at up to half the price of other hotels offering similar space and equal service. It would serve equally well as both a business stay, and for holiday leisure. I've stayed in a Deluxe Room, a Designer Room and Superior Room, all of which are clean and well appointed, with rich wood paneling. The beds are comfortable and both firm and soft pillows are provided. The bathrooms are spacious with separate shower and bath, marble floors and sink. You can connect both via LAN (cable provided) or wirelessly at a reasonable cost. Service is prompt, friendly, with due attention to detail. It has two wings, the main wing and corner wing with a small "plaza" in between. The two wings are otherwise not connected through internal corridors, so I prefer to stay in the main wing, though both are equally nice. It may at first glance seem remote and out of the way being at the end of Sukhumvit 24, but it truly is not. Transportation into and (more importantly) out of the soi is easy - there are always taxi's at the wait and for the more adventurous, a constant flow of motorcycle taxi's. The BTS (Skytrain) Promphong Station is at the front of the soi, as is one of the more popular and upmarket shopping malls, Emporium. There are all kinds of eating establishments, both local and western all around. Attached to the main wing is an Au Bon Pan, and attached to the Corner Wing is a Starbucks, plus a Subway and McDonalds across the street. Nearly every nationality of cuisine you can think of is within no more than a 10min walk or ride from the hotel.
A Gem of a hotel on Sukhumvit”
i found this hotel after thorough searching on agoda's website and cross checked with reviews on other websites too. yes, i'm that anal a traveller with a penchant for getting good deals and "discovering" gems. and that's what davis hotel is. for the money, you can hardly find a hotel property that can match the completeness right down to the small details that separate full fletched hotel with the trimmings from the wannabes (eg.. visuals, lightings, aesthetics in every space, corridors, the air temperature, no mildew odours etc, the very way staff have been selected and trained to make you feel like a welcome guest, need i go on?). i'm not saying that the davis is the best i've been to in bkk. but for the price i paid, nothing comes close! the location is good too... sukhumvit soi 24, although be warned that the distance out to sukhumvit road (phromphong bts / emporium) is not quite a 5 to 10 minute walk. instead, take advantage of the hotel tuktuk on the way out, and coming back, for the more adventurous individual, go for the motorcycle taxis found right at the sukhumvit road and soi 24 junction. it just costs 20 baht and a 3 minute ride, a real part of the bkk experience if you ask me.
Best hotel in Bangkok yet!”
i always wanted to stay at the davis and now i'm wondering why i ever stayed anywhere else. located in a very quiet part off sukhumvit rd about a mile down soi 24, this hotel rocks! very comfortable room with great service and a friendly staff. walking distance in any direction to major shopping and good restaurants, including a newer lebanese place right across the street. i highly recommend this place, especially for the business traveler, as they have an outstanding internet connection, something i had never experienced in bangkok before this. the bed is perfect, the bathroom clean and the shower is divine. you will love this place. it is an absolute 5-star in every way but the price. the breakfast, which came in my deal, was very good.
One of our options”
The hotel is so far so good, I enjoy the hotel's clean environment and comfort room condition, the breakfast is great to me at all. Many people complain his free wi-fi's standard, however, my personal experience is that it is acceptable to me. Many years ago I lived around Davis in another hotel, I enjoy the so called middle-class living environment around The Davis Bangkok. But this time when i live in here, I found the environment around Davis changed to be too noisy and crowd, I don't know why, and of course it is not Davis can control, but it make Davis down value, I am so sorry about that. Besides, the staffs' attitude can be more initiative in terms of opening door for customer and other minor but concrete performance when treating customers, nobody help me to carry my luggage when I arrived there from airport, but it is Davis, one of the most famous old brand hotel in Bangkok, I believed that their staff can contribute more to customers. And finally, the location of the hotel is too far from BTS, especially if Hotel's environment is far less elegance if compared with before. Finally, The Davis Bangkok is recommended to be one of customers' selection in Bangkok, but personally, if I come back to Bangkok again, I will try some new hotel again.
I never stay anywhere else”
This is the fifth review I have written. The Davis is the place to stay in Bkk...I will not tell you why because it will make it more difficult for me to book future reservations. It's good, and probably the safest and best place to stay in Bangkok. SIDE NOTE* :If you cannot get in to the Davis, I suggest a hotel run by some close acquaintances, "The Royal Asia" it's not top drawer but it's clean and security is good. The staff is usually quite attentive. Soi 8 Sukhumvit.. stones throw from Nana.. much too close for a married man.
my favorite bkk hotel”
i have stayed at the davis hotel for several years now on my frequent trips to bangkok. it is the best hotel i have stayed at (practically anywhere) for the money! it has attractive, spacious, clean rooms. they are well kept. the service is great and a tasty breakfast spread. it is in an area that has rapidly developed since i first stayed there 6 years ago. there is much more going on there now than before. it is also a short walk to the skytrain and it is not far from the major bkk attractions. the davis is on the level of a marriott or hilton hotel, but is half the price. i highly recommend it to any traveller going to bangkok.
Fantastic value for money”
Lovely hotel with a nice calm, elegant atmosphere. I only had 10 hours in Bangkok & could have toughed it out at the airport, instead I treated myself ($42!) to the Davis and it is a treat. The rooms are very nice, pretty much every amenity plus some that come as a surprise like the choice of pillows from the "Pillow Bar". Good internet connection in the rooms, wireless or cable and very luxurious bathrooms. The Davis often has deals so keep checking the site as sometimes it's too expensive for me to stay & other times it's a bargain. The staff are very helpful & service is excellent, my favourite Bangkok hotel.
A wonderful experience”
The Davis hotel is a very stylish, modern hotel in an interesting part of town. There are wonderful local restaurants right around the corner as well as a great shopping district within a 10 minute walk. You can take a taxi or tuk tuk ride to the two major downtown areas and be there in about 10 minutes (depending on traffic) Our room was very comfortable and the staff was extremely helpful. They will even arrange tours for you upon request. There is an extensive list of day tours at the front desk that is definitely worth looking over. The Davis hotel is an architectural delight; with well manicured grounds and relaxing pool areas. We had a wonderful time in Bangkok at the Davis!
Welcoming smile!”
The location of the hotel is away from the business shopping district, therefore the environment is quite and the traffic around is not chaotic, it make us traveling more enjoyable. The room is surprisingly value for money. As we book through Agoda, we enjoy the Hot Deal benefit. We paid only half the price. However, even if we were to pay full rate, given the room size and comfort Davis Hotel provides us, it is worth! I will go back to the same hotel for my next Bangkok trip, definite!
My wife and I had a perfect weekend 'getaway'”
We had high expectations after seeing the Davis online. I am pleased to say that all our expectations were met or exceeded. We upgraded to a Villa to pamper ourselves and had a fabulous time all round. Reading other reviews, much was said about the high quality staff and we can underscore the fact that they are friendly and attentive and most personable, from the front desk through to the cleaning staff. All were ready and willing to help in a friendly and professional manner. I would heartily recommend The Davis for couples wanting a romantic 'escape' to families wanting a hassle-free visit to Bangkok. Major shopping is within walking distance or a short taxi drive. Good restaurants and bars are in the vicinity and you have a wide choice of activities. Exceptional value for money - exactly what we wanted for our 'fantasy weekend in Bangkok'
Nice Rooms at Low Rates! Great Location”
I enjoyed my stay at the Davis Hotel. I booked a suite with a full kitchen, living room, and separate bedroom. It was quite spacious, well appointed, and quiet. The price was very reasonable for the quality of the room and the hotel in general. Although traffic in Bangkok can be bad, "driver provided scooters" are available right out front to take you to the SkyTrain or the Emporium shopping mall--great for short trips (not for the faint of heart!) Overall my stay at the Davis was very pleasant and I would return.
Davis Hotel, Bangkok - a boutique gem”
The elegant modern style of this boutique hotel is matched perfectly with the friendly but unobtrusive service. Set in a trendy neighborhood with excellent amenities (Starbuck's, a great supermarket, the Davis is an oasis of cool in bustling Bangkok. the only drawback to the Davis is the 15 minute walk to the skytrain. The hotel offers a classy tuk-tuk shuttle every 30 minutes and the walk is along a nice street with an excellent street food vendors area, so it can be an interesting experience. however, if you are using the skytrain frequently, the walk can get a bit annoying. All in all, the Davis is an excellent hotel for tourists and businesspeople alike and offers style, comfort and solid service in a great neighborhood.
The Davis Hotel. Where else?”
The Davis Hotel is your no-frills, reasonably priced, home away from home in Bangkok. It's got everything one needs for a short stay. A massage and steam facility to get over the jet lag, a roof top pool, a well equipped gym and the rooms are perfectly comfortable and clean. It's a bit of a hike from the BTS (Skytrain) but if you are brave enough to hop onto the back of a motorbike cab and weave in and out of the traffic on Soi 24 you'll be at the Sukhumvit, the BTS and the Emporium mall (one of Bangkok's finest) in a couple of minutes.
Excellent value for money ”
I've stayed at the Davis several time and I'm always confused whether to check in at the main reception or side side wing. The entrances are about 50m apart and I usually get it wrong. The staff are efficient and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean and well appointed. I've never used the restaurants and I don't thnik many other guests do either since they never seem to be used. Th price on Agoda is very good and if the location was on Sukhumvit Road as opposed to near Rama IV I think the price would be much higher. I like the location since it's near shopping on Rama IV and plenty restaurants across the whole range of prices. I've already booked my next stay at the Davis.
Why stay anywhere else”
I have stayed in Davis Hotel numerous times and would not want to stay anywhere else. I the time I have seen all room types, from studio to executive, 2 bedroom suite. All rooms are equal in their tasteful decorating, always perfectly clean and the staff are great. Nothing too much to ask. I walk with a bit of a limp and everything is done to make me comfortable in the hotel. I know bangkok must have "a thousand" hotels but I would not want to stay anywhere else! it feels like coming home every time I check-in to the Davis Hotel. Hopefully be back in December again to stay with you.
My stay at The Davis, Bangkok”
The Davis Hotel in Bangkok is centrally located and is a very nice property. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful and the rooms of a high standard. The fridge was well stocked and the room service menu was adequate. Internet was available in rooms which important for business people. Because the hotel is located in 2 buildings it was quite confusing for our taxi driver from the airport. Our tour operator waited at the wrong building for some time before realizing there were two buildings. Drink prices in the lobby bar were excessive. Overall a very nice property and happy to recommend it.
Back Again!”
I've been staing at the Davis Hotel since 2005. I love it! It's in a great location on Sukhumvit 24. It has everything you need. You really do not have to leave the block. Emporium Mall and the BTS station is at the end of the soi. Plenty of restaurants, ATM, mini-marts, etc... The hotel itself is well kept with spacious, well-designed rooms. There is the Main Wing which is where I stayed. The room was very attractive and designed in a more traditional style. I have also stayed many times in the Corner Wing. The rooms there are more hip and modern. You can't go wrong with either wing. They serve a nice breakfast in the morning with enough variety to be suitable. The service is excellent. I will be back again really soon.
Enjoyed staying at the Davis Hotel.”
We stayed a total of 2 weeks as we were there for business. We felt really at home at the Davis... enjoyed the staff... they were always smiling, very friendly, very helpful - even extended more than necessary. The hotel itself was really nice, we enjoyed the pool and the spa, they had such a relaxing spa floor with thick towels, great lounge to just hang out. We were surprise that the cost was very reasonable for the service and hotel amenities the Davis had to offer. The only drawback was that the smoking rooms were in the same floor as the non-smoking floor and so, for us who do not smoke, our nose is sensitive and the smell is prevalent, especially when the elevator doors open to our floor. But once we get inside our room, the cigarette smell is gone. Oh, and the food was excellent, We will definitely stay at this hotel when we return to Bangkok.
Great Room & Good Service”
The Davis Bangkok is a very nice hotel in the heart of Bangkok. It's tucked away at the end of Sukhumvit Soi 24 and for some travellers it may be a little far from Sukhumvit, but it's only 2 minutes by motorcycle taxi. I stayed here on two occasions and I have bene impressed with the room size and decoration. The servide is impeccable. Only a minor negative point, the pillows are too overstuffed to my liking.
